Adam Treloar sidelined for at least six weeks as scans reveal another serious calf injury

Western Bulldogs
midfielder Adam Treloar faces an uphill battle to play much more footy this year after scans revealed another serious calf injury.
Treloar was substituted out of Sunday's big win
over Richmond after suffering yet another calf issue.
7NEWS chief
AFL
reporter Mitch Cleary said he will be sidelined for at least six weeks.
'Adam Treloar's scans have revealed a calf strain,' Cleary said on Monday.
'Set to be sidelined for at least the next six weeks.
'Going to be touch-and-go for a H&A return… finals another conversation (if Dogs make it).
'The All-Australian also out of contract for 2026.'
The 32-year-old, who became an All-Australian for the first time last year, was playing just his fourth senior match of the season.
He missed the first seven games of the year after a pre-season injury, but managed just one match (against Port Adelaide in Round 8) before he was sidelined again.
Treloar returned to face the Hawks in Round 13, and played against the Saints the following week before going down once more on Sunday.
With nine rounds left in the season, it leaves Treloar's season hanging by a thread.
The Bulldogs look likely to make the finals, which will give the veteran more chance to recover but also will leave coach Luke Beveridge with a massive decision on whether to select the injury-prone midfielder.
Earlier this month, Beveridge maintained they would continue to pick him when he's fit.
'We're hoping he's got a future beyond this year and that will take care of itself. We'll work through that,' he said.
'He's just such an influential player and an esteemed player over a long period of time, that by and large, week to week, he's probably going to be in our best 22 or 23 so we'll pick him when he's when he's feeling fit and healthy and strong.'
The Western Bulldogs currently sit in eighth position on the ladder ahead of Friday night's huge clash against Sydney.

Slovenia's late equaliser spoils the Matildas' Montemurro welcome party

Latest posts Pinned post from yesterday 10.50pm Slovenia's late equaliser spoils Montemurro's welcome party A 91st-minute strike from Mirjam Kastelec has earned Slovenia a 1-1 draw with the Matildas in Perth, denying new Australian coach Joe Montemurro two wins from two games and spoiling an improved performance from the hosts. After a scoreless opening half at HBF Park on Sunday evening, the Australians secured a deserved breakthrough five minutes after the break when Remy Siemsen set Ellie Carpenter up to float a cutback to Michelle Heyman, who placed a side-footed volley into the net. But a late flurry from the Slovenians was rewarded a minute into added time when an effort from Naja Poje Mihelic bounced off the post and back into the path of fellow substitute Kastelec, who slid in front of a desperately retreating Australian defence to fire home. It dampened a performance from the Australians that showed signs of improvement as they continue to adapt to the new possession-based principles of Montemurro – even if the margin was well off the 3-0 victory they secured over the same opposition on Thursday. After a midweek win characterised by struggles with the Slovenian press and sloppy turnovers, the hosts were cleaner with the ball in their defensive third in the re-match, which resulted in fewer opportunities off giveaways for the Europeans. This was accompanied by improvements in the side's movement and combination play going forward, particularly from Carpenter and Amy Sayer on the right. The promising build-ups, however, were frequently let down by the final ball or stymied by desperate last-gasp defending. That was until the 50th minute, when Siemsen's inch-perfect ball for Carpenter set the wingback up to put it on a plate for Heyman. Charli Grant came close to killing the game off in the 70th minute, but had her shot cleared off the line. The visitors then raised their intensity. Having hardly been sighted to that point, Mackenzie Arnold was called into action in the 90th minute to deny Kastelec, but the Australian keeper could do little about the 22-year-old's effort a minute later. Seeking to bounce back, Montemurro will now shuffle his deck for fixtures against Panama on July 5 and July 8, with Carpenter, Cooney-Cross and Kennedy among eight players leaving camp to make way for eight new squad players. yesterday 10.30pm Thanks for joining us tonight It was not the result many die-hard Matildas wants would have wanted tonight but, hey, it was a friendly and all eyes are on the right choices for Australia ahead of next year's Asian Cup. The Tillies were smooth and created enough chances. A second ball in the back of the net for Australia would have proved all the difference. In any case, there's optimism for the future. Good night. yesterday 10.17pm Not a bad Sunday night turn out yesterday 10.02pm Full-time: There's the whistle The match finishes at 1-1 – a result which will leave the Matildas a tad frustrated. No-one wants to give up a goal in injury time, and that's exactly the mood here. The Tillies were impressive throughout, creating numerous chances but could only put one in the back of the net after a goalless opening half. The window was open for Slovenia to somehow snatch an equaliser .… and they did. yesterday 9.59pm GOAL: Oh, no, the equaliser 90+1′ - SLOVENIA have SCORED. An equaliser in stoppage time. That's well against the script, and against the flow ... Mirjam Kastelec pounced on a ball in the box and slotted at home. The ball bounced off the left post and, in this case, it was fortuitous for the visitors that it went in the right direction. Australia 1 Slovenia 1 yesterday 9.54pm The big final minutes have arrived 85′ - The big final minutes have arrived. The Tillies can't simply try and protect a one-goal lead. Slovenia have at times looked dangerous on the counter-attack. As Australia draw heavily on bench rotations, the emphasis on exposing the squad must be balanced with locking in the victories. yesterday 9.51pm More changes for the Tilles That big chance for Australia came closely after a few more substitutions. The Matildas are rotating through the squad now. yesterday 9.48pm This was a decent chance 77′ - The Matildas hover in the attacking third with venom. There was basically three different shots on goal. One shot is expertly cleared from the goal line by the Slovenian 'keeper.

Cameroon player dunks ball in his own basket to help Australia to miracle win

Australian Emus coach Robbie McKinlay had a list of plays drawn up with just 48 seconds left in the fourth quarter and his team down by six points to Cameroon at the under-19 basketball World Cup. McKinlay's playbook wasn't needed to win the game, however. Cameroon's Amadou Seini dunked the ball in his own basket to help send the game into overtime and Australia staged a remarkable comeback win. Seini's mistake is extremely rare, but it has happened before in basketball. In an exhibition game in 2013, University of Kentucky player Joe Young tried to save the ball from going out of bounds and as he flicked it behind his back, it landed in his own net. Seini's act was remarkable in that the centre received the baseline pass from his own player after an Australian basket and immediately dunked to gift the Emus two points and reduce the margin to four. Alex Dickeson hit a crucial three-pointer for Australia with four seconds remaining to tie the game and send it into double overtime. The Emus eventually secured a 101-96 victory with Roman Siulepa and Dash Daniels each scoring 22 points. The Emus are in the toughest group in the tournament, paired with favourites the USA, Cameroon and France. Australia had lost on the first day of the tournament against the USA by 15 points, meaning they needed a win against Cameroon to keep their tournament hopes alive ahead of the final group game against France. Apart from gifting the Emus two valuable points, Seini had enjoyed an outstanding game, finishing with 15 points and an under-19 World Cup all-time high of 25 rebounds, sharing the record with Australia's former NBA star and Sydney Kings owner Andrew Bogut.

Picklum was chaired off after emerging from the water, letting out a huge yell in excitement of the achievement. 'She's (Silva) been surfing so well. I knew she's such a competitor and she's such a fighter,' said the 22-year-old from Gosford. 'I was pretty scared all the way till the end even though I had a couple of good scores. But yeah, she's capable of great things and I'm so happy to get that one over her.' Aussie Molly Picklum enjoys the spoils of her triumph in Rio de Janeiro. Credit: AAP The WSL Tour's most consistent women's surfer in 2025 — reaching the quarter-finals in eight out of nine events, including three Finals - Picklum enjoys top spot with just two regular-season events remaining on the calendar. 'I've worked so hard this year to really put my best foot forward,' she added. 'I've dreamt so much of winning here in Rio, too. I'm a real energetic person, I love the Brazilian energy, and to get a win this year means so much for sure. 'Thank you so much and shout out to everyone back at home. I know you're all probably up watching and I felt all the love.' In the men's draw, Aussie Ethan Ewing was beaten in the semis by American Griffin Colapinto, 14.84 to 14.20, after earlier downing defending champion and home hope Italo Ferreira (14.43-13.30) in the quarters.
