Positioned as a strategic hub, the Dubai office will help SAIL boost steel exports, deepen industry linkages, and reinforce India-UAE trade ties, the ministry said. Live Events Dubai's role as a gateway to the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region and its investor-friendly environment make it an ideal base for expanding into emerging markets. It marks a significant milestone in SAIL's evolution into a globally competitive steelmaker and reflects India's growing profile in the international steel arena, the statement said. As per the steel ministry, SAIL, one of India's largest steel producers, sources approximately 2.5 million tonnes of limestone annually from RAK-based Stevin Rock LLC, with future procurement set to rise as part of SAIL's capacity expansion from 20 to 35 million tonnes per annum. Earlier this week, the minister inaugurated offices of NMDC and MECON in Dubai. Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL) is among India's top four steel manufacturing players having a capacity of over 20 million tonnes per annum.

Raipur: The Chhattisgarh government plans to install more than 5,000 mobile towers , particularly in tribal dominated Surguja and Bastar regions, in a phased manner within a defined timeline, officials said on Thursday. Officials informed this during a high-level review meeting of the state's Electronics and Information Technology Department at Mantralaya Mahanadi Bhawan chaired by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai. CM Sai directed officials to accelerate installation of mobile towers and fibre optic networks, particularly in remote and underserved regions such as Bastar and Surguja, an official statement said. He reaffirmed the state's commitment to digital transformation , calling electronics and information technology a key pillar in the vision of 'Viksit Chhattisgarh 2047', aligned with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Viksit Bharat 2047' roadmap, it added. "In order to ensure governance that is efficient, transparent and accessible, it is essential to strengthen digital infrastructure across the state. Under e-District 2.0, the government will expand its current 85 online services and cover 250 more offline services soon under it, enabling citizens to access key schemes and facilities from home," the CM said. The CM also directed officials to upgrade the State Data Centre to Tier-III standards for enhanced digital reliability. Officials informed in the meeting that a target of installing over 5,000 mobile towers has been set and it will be achieved in a phased manner within a defined timeline, the release said. In the meeting, Sai inquired about the progress of major projects like Atal Monitoring Portal, Niyad Nellnar and LWE (Left Wing Extremism) Saturation Dashboard, BharatNet Phase-2, Chhattisgarh State Data Center (CGSDC), Aadhar Enrollment In-House Model, e-District 2.0, CG Swan, e-Procurement and Capacity Building. The department's principal secretary Niharika Barik highlighted key digital milestones, including the long-pending data centre upgrade tender, now finalized after four years. The release said Barik noted the successful rollout of the Khanij 2.0 portal, Wi-Fi Ministry Scheme, and the e-District Portal. Additionally, the BharatNet Phase-2 proposal has been submitted to the Centre, and an Atal Monitoring Portal has been developed to track KPIs of 100 schemes across 19 departments, it said.

It's that time of the year when taxpayers rush to file their returns. But many are stuck because ITR-2 and ITR-3 forms are still not available. This has caused confusion and worry among salaried individuals and professionals. Why the delay? Here's a simple look at the reasons behind TAKING SO LONG?Tax experts say that ITR-2 and ITR-3 are far more detailed than the basic ITR-1 or ITR-4 forms. People who file ITR-2 or ITR-3 usually have earnings from multiple houses, capital gains, foreign income, foreign assets, business or professional work, directorships, unlisted company shares and time, the government has made major changes to these forms. For example, taxpayers now need to report capital gains earned before and after July 23, 2024 separately. There's also extra reporting for deductions, exemptions and Tax Deducted at Source (TDS) section of these changes, the Income Tax Department needs more time to update the online and offline filing systems. This is one of the main reasons behind the NEEDS TO FILE ITR-2 AND ITR-3?Not everyone needs these forms. ITR-2 is for individuals and Hindu Undivided Families (HUFs) who have salary income, more than one house, capital gains, foreign assets or overseas income, or if they are company directors or hold unlisted shares. People earning from business or professional work do not use this the other hand, ITR-3 is for self-employed people, independent professionals and partners in firms. It covers income from business, profession, capital gains, unlisted shares, derivatives trading and more. Contrastingly, if your income is simple, only salary or pension, ITR-1 or ITR-4 is usually THE TAX DEPARTMENT SAYSMeanwhile, the government has already extended the last date to file your ITR to 15 September 2025. So, taxpayers who usually file by July 31, have extra time this May 27, 2025, the government in its press release said, 'In view of the extensive changes introduced in the notified Income Tax Returns (ITRs) and considering the time required for system readiness and rollout of ITR utilities for Assessment Year (AY) 2025-26, the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has decided to extend the due date for filing returns.''The notified ITRs for AY 2025-26 have undergone structural and content revisions aimed at simplifying compliance, enhancing transparency, and enabling accurate reporting. These changes have necessitated additional time for system development, integration, and testing of the corresponding utilities,' it government further mentioned, "This extension is expected to mitigate the concerns raised by stakeholders and provide adequate time for compliance, thereby ensuring the integrity and accuracy of the return filing process."WHAT SHOULD YOU DO NOW?If you need to file ITR-2 or ITR-3, there's no need to panic. Use this extra time to collect all your papers, check your income details, get your Form 16, bank statements, capital gains statements and keep all proofs the forms are live, filing early will help you avoid last-minute stay patient, stay prepared, and keep an eye on the Income Tax website for the release of the ITR-2 and ITR-3 utilities.- Ends
