Uttarakhand CM meets Vice President in Nainital
Nainital (Uttarakhand) [India], June 27 (ANI): Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami met Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar in Haldwani, Nainital district on Friday. The Vice President was on a three-day visit to the state.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister also presented him with the state's local products.
Ahead of this, addressing the 156th Founders' Day celebration at Sherwood College in Nainital, Dhankhar urged students to set goals beyond personal success and dedicate themselves to the nation and society.
He said, 'Don't have a narrow or self-centred goal, have a goal for society, for humanity, for the nation.'
He called on the youth to adopt the spirit of 'Nation always first' and uphold a sense of nationalism that is unconditional, saying it is the minimum expected of citizens of a country with 5,000 years of civilizational depth like Bharat.
'You will have to imbibe a spirit, Nation always first. We will have to subscribe to nationalism without qualification, unrestricted, because that is what Bharat, a unique nation with 5,000 years of civilizational depth, deserves minimum,' he added.
He said that accessibility and affordability of quality education are fundamentals for any democratic nation to achieve.
'Quality education, its accessibility and affordability are fundamentals for any democratic nation to achieve. Education is a gift of God. If you get a quality education, you are lucky. If you get this kind of education in a nation of 1.4 billion, you are privileged in the right sense. Education is a great equaliser. Equality in law or otherwise can be optimally and best secured only through education. Education hits very hard at inequities, injustice, and that's what you are going to do all your life', he added.
Dhankhar also urged parents not to impose their ambitions on their children, cautioning that such pressure could limit the nation's future in science, research, and innovation.
He said, 'Parenthood is the most important obligation you owe not only to your children but to the entire humanity. And so, please do not stress your children. Don't decide what their object in life is. If you decide, all of them will end up being in pursuit of money, in pursuit of power. Where would we have scientists? Where would we have astronomers? Where would we have people who define destiny for the entire globe?'
He said that Bharat is no longer just a country with potential but one that is steadily rising, with remarkable progress in infrastructure and the economy over the past decade.
He urged students to carry this momentum forward, stating that the goal of becoming a developed nation, 'Viksit Bharat', is not just a dream but a destination. (ANI)

While local bodies and panchayats in Uttarakhand already had women's reservation, this move ensures women's leadership now emerges even in cooperatives. The implementation of this policy at the grassroots level is being seen as a potential game-changer. Opportunities for self-employment On March 8, 2025 (International Women's Day), the government launched the Mahila Saarthi Yojana as a pilot project in Dehradun. Under this scheme, women are now earning livelihoods by driving auto-rickshaws and two-wheelers to ferry passengers. Additionally, schemes like Lakhpati Didi, Mukhyamantri Sashakt Bahna Utsav Yojana, Ekal Mahila Swarozgar Yojana, and Drone Didi are creating multiple self-employment opportunities for women across the state. 'Women are the backbone of Uttarakhand's society. Our government believes that without empowering women, the progress of society is impossible. That's why we've launched several women-centric schemes that will prove to be game-changers in the future. Ahead of the annual Amaranth Yatra, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha interacted with various stakeholders here on Saturday to discuss arrangements for smooth pilgrimage. The lieutenant governor said the administration has made preparations, including security-related, for comfort of the visiting pilgrims. "Despite challenging weather conditions and tough terrain, efforts have been made to ensure better facilities for the pilgrims. Many of you are aware of this. Significant improvements have taken place. I also know that people from Jammu and Kashmir, especially those involved in this yatra, have served with dedication and will continue to do so," he said in his address. Stakeholders assure full support for Amarnath Yatra, Muharram: LG Sinha Speaking to reporters after the meeting, the lieutenant governor said the stakeholders have assured of all possible support to make the yatra a success. "I had invited all the senior leaders and representatives of the political parties to the Raj Bhavan and requested them to make the Amarnath Yatra and Muharram successful. They assured me of support for both the yatra as well as Muharram," said Sinha. "The members of the civil society, religious leaders, DDC chairpersons, office bearers of business and trade associations, and MLAs, were here for consultations today. Senior officers were also present. We have been doing this endeavour for the last four years," he added. India's economic outlook: PHDCCI says India will remain fastest growing among G7 peers, cites 61% trade surge
India will continue its robust economic growth trajectory and outpace major industrialised G7 countries, supported by strong domestic demand, sound macroeconomic fundamentals and a favourable demographic profile, the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI) said in a report. The report, titled Population, Productivity, Partnership: Rethinking G7-India Collaboration , highlights that with an average real GDP growth of over 8% from 2021 to 2024, India has consistently outperformed all G7 countries—Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Citing IMF projections, the industry body said India is expected to maintain a growth rate above 6% on average through 2029. 'India's consistent real GDP growth makes it the key growth driver for the world economy,' said Hemant Jain, President, PHDCCI, according to ANI. He credited India's momentum to structural reforms such as GST, the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme, and expanding digital infrastructure like Aadhaar and UPI. In terms of purchasing power parity (PPP), India's share in global GDP has risen from 7% in 2020 to 8.3% in 2024 and is expected to exceed 9% by 2029. A key driver, is India's demographic edge—with over 68% of its population in the 15–64 age group—compared to ageing G7 populations where over 10% are above 65. By 2030, this share is expected to double in many G7 countries, leading to shrinking labour pools and increasing dependency burdens, ANI reported. India's merchandise trade with G7 nations has grown 61%, from $154 billion in FY21 to $248 billion in FY25, while maintaining a steady trade surplus. 'This reflects India's rising export competitiveness,' the report said. It also noted India's global leadership on initiatives such as the International Solar Alliance, Mission LiFE, and the Global Biofuels Alliance. In technology and digital governance, the report said India's approach to AI, with initiatives like BHASHINI and Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI), showcases a human-centric and ethical model. PHDCCI said strategic cooperation with G7 on clean energy, climate finance, supply chain resilience, and healthcare will define future growth trajectories.
