Pakistan will begin the tour with a three-match T20I series against the West Indies. Photo: PCB The Pakistan cricket squad arrived in Lauderhill, Florida, on Sunday via Dubai in two separate groups, ahead of the three-match T20 International series against the West Indies next month. According to details, the second group comprising Mohammad Haris, Hussain Talat, Hasan Nawaz, Sahibzada Farhan, along with the coaching and support staff, departed recently and has now joined the squad in the USA. The first group, including T20I captain Agha Salman, Saim Ayub, Fakhar Zaman, Mohammad Nawaz, Abrar Ahmed, Khushdil Shah, and Faheem Ashraf, had already left for Lauderhill on Friday. Meanwhile, emerging pacers Ahmed Daniyal, Salman Mirza, and Abbas Afridiwho failed to retain their places in the squadhave returned to Pakistan from Dhaka. The Men in Green will begin the tour with a three-match T20I series against the West Indies, with fixtures scheduled for July 31, August 2, and August 3 at the Central Broward Park & Broward County Stadium in Lauderhill, USA. All-rounder Agha Salman will lead the T20I side, which sees the return of key pacers Haris Rauf, Hasan Ali, and Shaheen Shah Afridi. Following the T20Is, both teams will contest a three-match ODI series, set to be played at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Trinidad and Tobago on August 8, 10, and 12. Wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan will captain the 16-member ODI squad, which includes one uncapped player, Hasan Nawaz. Senior stars Babar Azam and Shaheen Shah Afridi have been recalled to strengthen the lineup for the 50-over format. Pakistan T20I Squad: Salman Ali Agha (c), Abrar Ahmed, Faheem Ashraf, Fakhar Zaman, Haris Rauf, Hasan Ali, Hasan Nawaz, Hussain Talat, Khushdil Shah, Mohammad Haris (wk), Mohammad Nawaz, Sahibzada Farhan (wk), Saim Ayub, Shaheen Shah Afridi and Sufiyan Muqeem. Doubtful Shadab Pakistan's T20 vice-captain Shadab Khan is likely to miss the Asia Cup 2025, scheduled to take place in the UAE from September 9 to 28, as he continued to recover from shoulder surgery. The all rounder underwent successful surgery in the UK earlier in July after sustaining a shoulder injury, which had already ruled him out of the three match T20I series against Bangladesh and the ongoing West Indies tour. According to sources, Shadab will need a minimum of three months to regain full fitness and return to competitive cricket. This timeline made his participation in the Asia Cup highly unlikely, with his return expected only in October. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has not yet named a replacement for the deputy captaincy role. During the Bangladesh series, no vice captain was appointed in Shadab's absence and the squad announced for the West Indies tour also did not include a designated deputy to skipper Salman Ali Agha. The PCB has yet to release an official timeline for his recovery or confirm any plans for a potential return. For the unversed, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) recently unveiled the highly anticipated schedule for the Men's Asia Cup 2025, confirming that arch-rivals India and Pakistan will lock horns on September 14 in the UAE. This edition of the continental event will follow the T20 format, serving as a crucial warm-up ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup 2026, co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka. The tournament features eight teams split into two groups. Group A consists of India, Pakistan, UAE, and Oman, while Group B includes Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka and Hong Kong. The event kicks off on September 9 with the curtain-raiser between Afghanistan and Hong Kong. Pakistan will begin their campaign against Oman on September 12, followed by the high-voltage clash against India two days later.

Emon stars as BD stun Pakistan
Bangladesh's Parvez Hossain Emon celebrates after scoring a half-century during the first Twenty20 international cricket match against Pakistan at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka on July 20. PHOTO: AFP Bangladesh secured a commanding seven-wicket victory over Pakistan in the first T20I of the three-match series at the Shere Bangla National Stadium on Sunday, thanks to a match-winning half-century from Parvez Hossain Emon. Chasing a modest target of 111, the hosts suffered early setbacks as debutant Salman Mirza struck twice in his opening spell. He removed Tanzid Hasan for just one run in the first over and followed it up with the wicket of Bangladesh skipper Litton Das — also for one — in his second over, leaving the home side struggling at 7-2 in 2.2 overs. Parvez Hossain and Towhid Hridoy then steadied the innings with a crucial 73-run partnership for the third wicket, rebuilding Bangladesh's chase after the early collapse. The stand was eventually broken by Abbas Afridi, who dismissed Hridoy for 36 off 37 balls, with Bangladesh at 80-3 in 12.3 overs. Emon continued his fine form, anchoring the chase with a composed knock. He brought up his second T20I fifty and remained unbeaten on 56, guiding Bangladesh to victory in 15.3 overs. Jaker Ali chipped in with 15 off 10 deliveries to help Bangladesh take a 1-0 lead in the series. For Pakistan, Salman Mirza impressed on debut with figures of 2/23 in 3.3 overs, while Abbas Afridi picked up one wicket. Batting first, Pakistan showed early promise through openers Fakhar Zaman and Saim Ayub, who found boundaries to keep the scoreboard ticking. However, the momentum quickly faded. Saim was dismissed for six by Taskin Ahmed in the second over, and Mohammad Haris followed soon after, hitting a boundary off Mahedi Hasan before being bowled on the next ball. Skipper Agha Salman struggled to get going and fell to Tanzim Hasan Sakib for just three. The pressure mounted as Mustafizur Rahman removed Hassan Nawaz for a duck, reducing Pakistan to 41-4. Mohammad Nawaz's run-out due to a miscommunication further dented Pakistan's hopes, leaving them at 46-5 in 7.4 overs. Fakhar Zaman was the standout performer, scoring a resilient 44 off 34 balls. However, his innings was cut short following another mix-up, this time with Khushdil Shah, resulting in a run-out at 70-6. Abbas Afridi offered some late resistance, smashing three sixes, while Khushdil tried to stabilise the innings. Their 33-run stand was broken when Mustafizur dismissed Khushdil for 17, leaving Pakistan at 103-7 in 16.2 overs. Taskin Ahmed returned to dismantle the lower order, dismissing Faheem Ashraf (5), running out debutant Salman Mirza for a duck, and eventually removing Afridi for 22 to wrap up the innings. Pakistan were bowled out for 110 in 19.5 oversmarking their lowest T20I total against Bangladesh. Taskin Ahmed led the bowling charge with figures of 3 for 24, while Mustafizur Rahman claimed 2 for 29. Mahedi Hasan and Tanzim Hasan Sakib chipped in with a wicket apiece. It is pertinent to mention that the second T20I of the series will be played at the same venue on Tuesday.

Emon, Taskin shine as Bangladesh crush Pakistan in series opener
Bangladesh registered a dominant seven-wicket victory over Pakistan in the first T20 International of the series at the Shere Bangla National Stadium on Sunday, dismissing the visitors for a paltry 110 before chasing down the target with ease. After opting to bowl on a tacky surface, Bangladesh found success early when Saim Ayub flicked one straight to deep fine leg in the second over. Mohammad Haris followed shortly after, falling to Mehidy Hasan Miraz, who had earlier conceded a few boundaries but made a key breakthrough. Skipper Agha Salman and debutant Hasan Nawaz failed to make an impact, while Mohammad Nawaz was run out after a mix-up in the middle. Fakhar Zaman, dropped twice during his stay, tried to anchor the innings with a 44-run knock, but his dismissal once again stalled momentum. Khushdil Shah (17) and Abbas Afridi (22) added a valuable 33-run partnership for the seventh wicket to help Pakistan cross the 100-run mark. However, the visitors were bowled out for 110 in the final over. Taskin Ahmed was the standout bowler for Bangladesh, finishing with 3 for 22, while Mustafizur Rahman delivered a tidy spell, picking up two wickets for just six runs in four overs. Bangladesh's chase began shakily, losing Tanzid Hasan and captain Litton Das with only seven runs on the board. However, a composed 73-run stand between Parvez Hossain Emon and Towhid Hridoy steadied the innings and turned the tide. Hridoy scored 36 before falling, but Emon carried his bat, scoring an unbeaten 56 off 39 balls. He was named Player of the Match for his efforts. Jaker Ali remained not out on 15 as Bangladesh crossed the finish line with 27 balls to spare, taking a 1-0 lead in the series. The second T20I will be played at the same venue on Tuesday.
