Plus One: 2.24 lakh take admission after second allotment
Of them, 1,41,229 students took permanent merit admission, while 83,751 took temporary admission.
While 1,07,092 took admission to their first option allotments, 17,294 did not take admission despite getting allotment. Applications of 258 candidates were denied owing to various reasons.
In the sports quota, 2,639 took permanent admission and 1,992 temporary admission. As many as 1,469 did not join despite getting allotment and 10 applications were denied.
In the model residential school category, 1,039 candidates took permanent admission and 84 temporary. Seventy did not take admission though they had received allotment.
A total of 3,18,574 seats were available for single-window admission. With 2,24,980 students taking admission, the number of seats left is 93,594.
Students who failed to take admission despite getting allotment will not be considered for further allotment.
Students who have been unable to apply till now can apply for supplementary allotment after the third allotment in the main phase in a couple of days.
Plus One classes will begin on June 18.

Third allotment for Plus One vocational higher secondary single-window admission will be published on https://admission.vhseportal.kerala.gov.in to allow students to take admission from June 16 till 4 p.m. on June 17. As no temporary admissions will be allowed, students should pay the fee and take permanent admission.

School/combination transfer admissions to begin on July 25
The district/inter-district school/combination transfer allotment for Plus One higher secondary admissions will be published to facilitate admissions from 10 a.m. on Friday till 4 p.m. on July 28. As many as 55,419 applications had been received for the school/combination transfer till July 21. Of these, 54,827 applications that were found valid will be considered for the allotment. Results can be checked on 'Transfer Allot Results' link using the candidate login. Vacancies remaining after the school/combination transfer will be published at 2 p.m. on July 29 to enable merit-based spot admission.

Children who lost parents show remarkable resilience under kinship foster care: Officials
Kozhikode: The landslide that struck Mundakkai-Chooralmala in Wayanad on June 30 last year robbed several children of their parents and loved ones in a matter of moments, leaving them with deep scars. Seven children lost both their parents in the disaster and two of them have now turned 18. As the tragedy nears its first anniversary, district child protection officials said five children, who lost both parents, are now under kinship foster care in the houses of close relatives. They have adapted remarkably well to their new realities and are reportedly doing well. "All five aged between 5 and 16 are attending school and living with close relatives, mostly uncles or aunts. Since most of them are too young to fully grasp the depth of their loss, they've adapted well," said Karthika Anna Thomas, district child protection officer, Wayanad. Three of the five children are girls. One of the youngest, a five-year-old girl, spends time with her aunt's new born baby. The infant's laughter and presence have become a source of healing for her. According to officials, those who lost their fathers, including a 2-month-old baby, are with their mothers, and vice versa. Two of the 14 children are from Tamil Nadu. District child protection unit authorities said they continue to monitor the emotional, educational and recreational needs of the children. "Even so, outreach workers say that during birthdays, Vishu, Eid and other festivals, the children miss their parents' absence deeply," an official said. The entire cost of one student's degree education, of the two who reached adulthood, is being covered by the management of Don Bosco College in Sultan Bathery. The other, pursuing Plus One studies in Kozhikode district, had earlier dropped out of school but resumed studies after the tragedy. New houses are being built for many children under govt's rehabilitation township plan. Also, those who lost both parents were provided Rs 10 lakh, while those who lost one received Rs 5 lakh, deposited in fixed joint accounts in the names of the children and district child protection officer, with the children receiving interest from deposits. Also, 19 children receive Rs 4,000 monthly under Centre's sponsorship scheme. Additionally, private organisations and individuals, through state govt, contributed Rs 31.2 lakh to six children who lost both parents.

Plus One admission: 5,729 students get supplementary allotment
As many as 5,729 students have received allotment in the second supplementary allotment for Plus One higher secondary admission. Of the 14,333 applications received, 14,056 applications were considered for allotment to 29,069 vacant seats. As many as 23,340 seats remain vacant after the second supplementary allotment, while 8,327 students are yet to get allotment. In Malappuram where 4,149 applications were considered for allotment, 1,605 students got allotment. Only 471 vacancies remain in the district for the remaining 2,544 applicants. In Palakkad, only 799 of the 3,336 valid applications secured allotment. Only 316 seats are left for the remaining 2,537 applicants in the district. In Kozhikode where only 995 allotments were made, 416 seats remain vacant for 1,241 students yet to get allotment. The maximum number of vacant seats left is in Kollam – 3,040. Here, of the 95 valid applications, 93 were given allotment, leaving only two students yet to get allotment. In Pathanamthitta where 2,931 merit seats are vacant, 100% allotments were made. In Alappuzha, 2,795 seats are left though only two students are awaiting allotment still. In the model residential school category, 14 students secured allotment. Six students are yet to get allotment, while 361 seats are vacant in this category. Admissions as per the second supplementary allotment will be held from 10 a.m. on Wednesday to 4 p.m. on Thursday. Those who have secured allotment should take admission. Vacancy and application submission for district/inter-district transfer will be held from July 19 to 21. Allotment as per the transfer allotment will be held from July 25 to 28. Vacancies after this will be published to facilitate spot admission. The admission procedures for this year will conclude on July 31.
