This Morning viewers stunned by Dermot O'Leary's age as he celebrates birthday on air
This Morning viewers were taken aback as they discovered Dermot O'Leary's age as he celebrated his birthday on Friday (May 23).
As the show kicked off, presenter Alison Hammond announced that Dermot would be turning 52 tomorrow and that the festivities would span the entire programme.
"We're gonna be dancing into the bank holiday because, guess what? It's a certain someone's birthday this weekend. Who is it? I have no idea," Alison joked.
"Am I allowed to say how old you are?" she then inquired, to which Dermot responded: "Well, you're going to say it anyway because you love the fact that I am older than you."
Alison went on: "He is an incredible, unbelievable, I mean he doesn't look it but he's 52 years old," reports Wales Online.
"We are dancing into the weekend," she declared as they began twirling to Yazz and The Plastic Population's 1988 anthem, The Only Way Is Up.
Alison then disclosed that she had picked out a special tune for her colleague.
"This is just for you because I love you very much. This song is for you, go for it," she said before Carly Simon's You're So Vain filled the studio.
"Thanks everybody," Dermot chuckled as he mockingly took bows towards each camera.
"That's my favourite thing that you do, it makes me laugh. Literally, he comes into the studio and takes a bow for everyone before he starts the show, absolutely love it," Alison said.
Dermot shared that he hadn't made extensive plans for his birthday weekend, although he contemplated taking a short holiday.
"I mean, it's a really big one, 52 and all," Alison quipped, as Dermot responded: "Lovely thing is, you're just right behind me."
Wrapping up their exchange, Alison said: "I hope you have a lovely day. Obviously I'm not going to be with you, I'm gutted it's not your birthday today but I'm gonna make it your birthday today."
This Morning's audience was taken aback after discovering Dermot's age, with several viewers taking to social media to express their astonishment.
"Wow Dermot looks great for 52!" exclaimed one fan, while another commented: "Dermot on top form as ever."
"Dermot looks younger than Shephard," observed a third, as someone echoed: "I was just thinking exactly the same."
Elsewhere, another viewer offered celebratory words: "HAPPY BIRTHDAY DERMOT you lovely man you."

BBC boss' damning verdict when asked EXACTLY what MasterChef's John Torode said
John Torode's contract on MasterChef will not be renewed, the BBC and production company Banijay UK said on Tuesday, following an allegation of using racist language Offensive language John Torode allegedly used on MasterChef was a "serious racist term," a BBC boss has stressed. Tim Davie, director-general of the BBC, said the slur was so severe he was not prepared to repeat it when pressed by journalists what exactly Torode is alleged to have used. The presenter was sacked from his role on MasterChef last night, after the allegation he used racist language was investigated and substantiated by an independent investigation led by a top law firm. Although he denies the allegations, Torode, 59, follows Gregg Wallace, 60, out of the door, departures which put the future of already recorded celebrity and amateur versions of the BBC show in doubt. But Mr Davie, 58, last night insisted MasterChef does have a future with the broadcaster beyond 2028, when its current deal runs out. Asked exactly what Torode said, Mr Davie last night replied: "I'm not going to give you the exact term, because I think, frankly it was serious racist term, a serious racist term, which does not get to be acceptable in any way, shape or form." In relation to MasterChef's future, the BBC boss continued: "I absolutely think it does (have a future), I think a great programme that's loved by audiences is much bigger than individuals. It absolutely can survive and prosper, but we've got to make sure we're in the right place in terms of the culture of the show." Torode and Wallace had fronted the show since it was revived as MasterChef Goes Large in 2005. When Wallace was axed, it was thought Grace Dent would replace the former greengrocer, having covered for him on Celebrity MasterChef earlier this year. Torode's absence leaves questions on who may work alongside Ms Dent, a food critic with prior TV and journalism experience. Torode last night continued to insist he had no knowledge of the "offensive" comment he is accused of making, despite lawyers Lewis Silkin upholding the complaint, said to be from 2018. It also emerged on Tuesday the defiant presenter, who also appears on This Morning, found out about his dismissal through the BBC News website. He claims he was never contacted by the BBC or MasterChef's production company about their decision not to renew his contract on the cooking programme, of which he has been part for 20 years. A statement from Banijay UK, the programme's production company, said: "In response to John Torode's statement, it is important to stress that Banijay UK takes this matter incredibly seriously. "The legal team at Lewis Silkin that investigated the allegations relating to Gregg Wallace also substantiated an accusation of highly offensive racist language against John Torode which occurred in 2018. "This matter has been formally discussed with John Torode by Banijay UK, and whilst we note that John says he does not recall the incident, Lewis Silkin have upheld the very serious complaint. Banijay UK and the BBC are agreed that we will not renew his contract on MasterChef."

Slump in Gino D'Acampo's wealth since being axed by ITV revealed as shamed chef plots new life abroad
GINO D'Acampo's earnings have dropped by over £150,000 after he was axed by ITV. The channel cut ties with him in February after allegations of inappropriate behaviour. 4 New documents filed at Companies House show net assets of £195,999 for the financial year ending in April, compared to £352,534 in 2024. The shamed chef faced a considerable loss in earnings, with cash intake of £199k - down from £704k the year before. It comes after The Sun told how the former This Morning telly cook is relaunching his brand in Australia amid his UK woes. The Italian, 48, is launching 'multiple work projects', including two new restaurants and a culinary tech platform, 11,000 miles from his Hertfordshire mansion, which is now on the market for £4.2million. Last week Gino's representative said: 'He loves Australia a lot - the people, culture, cleanliness and environment.' While Gino will keep a base in the UK, he will be spending increasing amounts of time Down Under over the next two years as he also sets up a new cookware range for the international market. A source added: 'Gino has had a fantastic career over here - and still has an incredibly loyal fanbase. 'But it's been made clear to him that TV opportunities over here are few and far between in the wake of recent allegations, and that's frustrating. 'While Gino has always denied any wrongdoing, he's a pragmatist and knows it's time for new adventures. 'He's been inundated with offers Down Under following a really successful tour there. Gino D'Acampo slammed for 'highly inappropriate' cooking video as fans say 'that's disturbing and upsetting' 'He spent some time in Australia a few years ago, and loved it. He still has a large social media following and plans to capitalise on that in the next stage of his career.' The source said the star will be launching two new restaurants in Australia and will split his time between there and the UK for the next two years. His wife of 22 years, Jessica, and their three children will remain in Britain. The source added: 'But if all goes well, Australia is a full-time option.' 4 4

Olivia Attwood hits back at cruel backlash over new This Morning summer gig after fans threatened they will 'stop watching'
Olivia Attwood has hit back at backlash over her upcoming gig on This Morning after cruel trolls insisted it 'wouldn't work'. The former Love Island star, 34, who is a regular Loose Women panellist, is joining the This Morning team as a summer host in the coming weeks. While she's built a successful career fronting multiple ITV documentaries and reality shows, the news of Olivia's new slot didn't go down a hit with some fans. Traditionalists went as far as threatening they'll 'definitely stop watching' if Olivia joins the morning show. But ITV's golden girl Olivia has assured she is determined to succeed in the new gig and prove the haters wrong. She exclusively told The Sun: 'Those who know me understand the hard work I've put in to get where I am today. 'I'm forever grateful to Love Island for being the springboard to my career, but I'm excited to show there's so much more to me beyond the villa. 'It's been a lot of hard work, but I've always stayed focused on my goals and believed in myself and I'm very thankful for ITV in believing me.' Other stars who are fronting This Morning this summer include Sian Welby, Dermot O'Leary, Emma Willis, Josie Gibson, Rochelle Humes, Joel Dommett, Craig Doyle, and Andi Peters. Recently Olivia hit out at the 'stigma' of being the partner of a successful sportsman, insisting she funds her own lavish lifestyle and has worked 'relentlessly' since being catapulted to fame when she left the Love Island villa in 2017. She became a bona fide WAG when she tied the knot with footballer Bradley Dack in a lavish central London ceremony in the summer of 2023. The TV personality dated Bradley, 31, prior to entering the ITV reality show and he was already a footballer playing for League Two team Gillingham FC. Olivia slammed 'gold digger' claims and said it doesn't matter what job her husband has because she works 'seven days a week'. She told MailOnline: 'I think people are like, "She works seven days a week, surely she's got some f*****g cash". 'Maybe in the beginning when Brad and I first started dating, there was a bit of a stigma around it [dating someone who plays sport for a living]. 'And people can kind of go, "Oh", a bit of an eye roll and stupid comments like, "Oh my gosh she's with him cos he plays football". 'I've got my own money, so it doesn't really matter what he does for a job.' Straight-talking Olivia shot to fame thanks to her stint in the Love Island villa in the summer of 2017, which saw her reach the show final with her ex-boyfriend Chris Hughes, 32, who she dated until February 2018. The former grid girl has since become a household name and a regular face on TV, appearing on The Only Way Is Essex, I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!, This Morning and Loose Women. Olivia has also fronted many of her own shows and presented Bad Boyfriends, Getting Filthy Rich and The Price Of Perfection - admitting she has 'bitten the hands off' TV executives for 'big jobs, little jobs, whatever I could get'. But this success did not come overnight and she told how she 'grafted' when she left the villa while working relentlessly to get where she is today. Olivia told MailOnline: 'Post Love Island, I knew where I wanted to be. I knew I wanted to stay working in television, and I was very dedicated to that, and everything I've done is working towards that bigger goal. 'I've been very patient and I've learnt the craft, I'm still learning, I've taken the big jobs, the little jobs, whatever I could get, I just bite their hand off for it.' 'Relentlessly pursuing that bigger goal and I'm working really hard at it, it doesn't come overnight', she added. 'Even when you get a big platform like Love Island, you still need to prove yourself to people. 'I think sometimes people become impatient off the back of reality shows, but these kind of things, they don't happen overnight, you have to stick with it. It takes graft.' Olivia has enjoyed the spoils of a lavish lifestyle thanks to her lucrative television career and is regularly seen toting around Chanel and Hermes handbags. She has also enjoyed many luxurious trips throughout the years - in the last nine weeks she has been seen in France, Miami and Ibiza. In her popular TV documentary, Price Of Perfection, Olivia was very candid about her own cosmetic tweakments and confessed she spends a 'couple of grand a month' maintaining her image.
