The latest Fortnite update is set to arrive soon, bringing with it a host of new content and bug fixes – so what time will the game be going down for maintenance?
The latest Fortnite update is poised to arrive following a new round of downtime, with high expectations for a wealth of unannounced content.
Fortnite has been basking in a surge of fresh content recently, arriving at such a pace that it would be easy to assume frequent updates were being rolled out. However, this hasn't been the case.

Epic Games' summer break has been ongoing since June, allowing the diligent developers behind Fortnite some well-deserved rest, and the average player was likely none the wiser. The introduction of Blitz Royale mode and Squid Grounds Reload takeover more than satisfied fans, but now, there's plenty more on the horizon.

The forthcoming Fortnite update promises to bring new content to the game, along with a host of much-needed bug fixes to keep the game running smoothly. So when exactly does the downtime commence? Here's what you need to know about the impending Fortnite downtime.

Is Fortnite down?
Fortnite downtime is slated to start on Tuesday, July 15 at 1am PDT / 4am EDT / 9am BST. This timing has been confirmed in a recent tweet from @FortniteStatus, aligning with the downtimes of updates 36.10 and update 35.10.

Updates have typically lasted between two and three hours recently, so we can anticipate that the upcoming downtime will conclude by 4am PDT / 7am EDT / 12pm BST at the latest.
Fortnite early patch notes
If you're keen to discover what's in store for the next Fortnite update, your best bet is to visit the Fortnite community Trello board. This is where the developers keep players in the loop about upcoming bug fixes.
Here's everything tagged as 'Fixed in Next Game Update' on the Trello board, spanning various modes:

General issues
Nanite Buzzsaw may appear incorrectly to others – When a player equips the Nanite Buzzsaw Pickaxe for the first time in a match, it may briefly appear distorted or misplaced to other players.
Lego Fortnite
Save the World
Chests and other containers may appear already opened or empty in Hit the Road – Searchable containers (chests, toolboxes or storage boxes) may appear already opened and/or contain no loot. Interacting with these containers will still award Cassette Tapes.
Considering the amount of time many developers have had away from the game, it's a relatively brief list. However, we anticipate the forthcoming update will bring a host of additional fixes as the Epic Games team gets back on track.
Regardless, we'll gladly welcome any fixes over none at all.

Fortnite downtime continues as Epic Games confirms reason for surprise maintenance extension

Fortnite has been taken offline for an extended period of time thanks to the 36.20 update, with the game failing to reappear after the predicted two-to-three hour downtime period, and now, Epic Games has made a new statement about the ongoing issues Fortnite continues to experience downtime following an unexpected extension to its maintenance period, and Epic Games has now issued a fresh statement explaining why the game remains offline. ‌ The Super season of Fortnite has largely proceeded without significant glitches, with Epic Games' summer break providing their developers a well-earned rest, whilst ensuring no lapse in content. The introduction of the immensely popular Blitz Royale mode and the Squid Grounds Reload takeover have kept players thoroughly engaged. It's been a substantial season, with players relishing the opportunity to dive in. ‌ However, things are currently going awry as the 36.20 update downtime has commenced and failed to meet its estimated two-to-three-hour completion time, leaving the game silent and players unable to access it. This has resulted in a frustrating morning for potential players, but Epic Games appears to have an explanation, having released a new statement. ‌ Here's what you need to know about the ongoing Fortnite downtime. Epic Games addresses prolonged downtime In response to the unexpectedly lengthy downtime experienced by the game, Epic Games has issued an official statement. After more than six hours of downtime, the company has disclosed that it deliberately extended its server shutdown to address internal issues. "Hey everyone, we're extending downtime while we work to resolve an issue discovered during offline checks," the company announced in a tweet. "We'll do our best to get Fortnite servers online ASAP. Keep an eye on this thread for any future updates." The current Fortnite downtime, as initially reported and analysed, has thrown up some curious data from game statistic site Osirion, which notes that the game's version number actually decreased with the latest update – a rare occurrence that previously led to significantly prolonged downtime. Unearthing issues during offline checks is hardly encouraging, suggesting problems with Fortnite's content rather than its internet connectivity. Nonetheless, Epic Games has been transparent about the situation. Fingers crossed that players will be diving back into the action soon.

Shadow Labyrinth release date and when you can play the bizarro Pac-Man metroidvania

The Shadow Labyrinth release time has been confirmed by developer Secret Level and will be consistent across all platforms, including the Nintendo Switch, with one key exception The eerie and sinister interpretation of Pac-man's lore, Shadow Labyrinth, is preparing for its debut on various platforms, including the much-anticipated Nintendo Switch 2. ‌ Do you remember Secret Level? We barely do, despite it having its moments. The Prime Video anthology series had a plethora of peculiar ideas about the video games it featured, with the origin of Mega Man receiving a spotlight and a new story involving a mash-up of different properties serving as the most buzzed-about episode, largely due to the surprise appearance of some Helldivers. ‌ However, one episode did manage to raise eyebrows. A dark, sticky and warped version of Pac-Man was unveiled in the episode titled Circle, which reimagined the iconic yellow character as a demonic and savage parasite that manipulates its host into becoming a vessel for its insatiable hunger for all living things. It's an utterly bizarre reinterpretation of what is essentially a pixelated ball navigating a simple maze, but it certainly grabbed attention – and now it's set to grab even more as its video game adaptation, the metroidvania title Shadow Labyrinth, is nearly upon us. ‌ It's slated to launch on multiple consoles, but most notably, it will be part of the Nintendo Switch 2 2025 line-up. Here's wishing it the best, especially as it's launching close to the release date of Donkey Kong Bananza. The game fully embraces its concept, challenging you to navigate a maze teeming with monsters and horrors, battling your way to the end of what is set to be – you've guessed it – a labyrinthine journey. But when exactly does it drop? ‌ Here's everything you need to know about the Shadow Labyrinth release date. Shadow Labyrinth release date The release date for Shadow Labyrinth is scheduled for Friday, July 18 at midnight local time, excluding most US timezones. This information has been disclosed on the game's page on the PlayStation Store. This midnight timing is consistent across all timezones except in the United States, where the game will become available at 12am EDT nationwide, resulting in a 9pm PDT / 11pm CDT launch time on Thursday, July 17. It's a somewhat perplexing arrangement, but at least players across the US might have the opportunity to start playing the game simultaneously with their mates on the other side of the country. After all, uncovering this peculiar world and deciphering all its mysteries is likely to be a hefty task, so we might require some intellectual reinforcement.
