The perfect Scottish beach near 'best fish and chips in the world'
To celebrate the good weather we have been having lately, the Daily Record is heading to the seaside for our latest Walk of the Week. Once per week, we shine a light on one beauty spot around Scotland—and this time it is Stonehaven Beach.
Stonehaven Beach is situated by the town of Stonehaven in Aberdeenshire. Around just over one kilometre in length, it is bordered by the Carron Water and the town's harbour jetty.
The beach is unique in that it features both sandy and pebbly areas. The southern end is generally sandier and is more popular amongst sunbathers.
Stonehaven Beach also includes an electric board that displays up-to-date water quality predictions during the summer. This is very handy if you are planning to take a dip but want to make sure the water is clean beforehand.
The beach is also known for being popular amongst water sports enthusiasts, and has even received a Keep Scotland Beautiful Seaside Award. These awards honour the very best beaches across the country.
Additionally, Stonehaven Beach has received hugely positive feedback from visitors. It has an overall score of 4.6 out of five on Google based on 496 reviews.
One visitor shared: "For any given day, this is the perfect spot. You could go with friends, family, kids, pets, and during day or night.
"The beach has a warmth to itself that's embracing. This harbour town has a lot more to offer if you are taking a day's trip."
Keep reading for a few photographs showcasing Stonehaven Beach's beauty. For more travel inspiration, check out some of our past Walks of the Week below:

Tomorrowland main stage goes up in flames two days before festival opens
Firefighters have battled to stop the blaze from spreading to nearby woodland after the blaze ripped through the main stage at the festival site. A huge fire has engulfed and completely destroyed the main stage at the Tomorrowland festival. Firefighters have battled to stop the blaze from spreading to nearby woodland after the blaze ripped through the main stage at the festival site in Boom, Belgium. The festival was due to start on Friday and around 1,000 employees are understood to be at the site, however no festivalgoers have yet arrived. According to local site VRT News, it is currently unclear whether anyone had been injured in the fire. Residents nearby have been asked to close their windows and doors. As reported by the Mirror, thousands of revellers make their way to the festival every year for one weekend where they listen to electronic sets. A festival spokesperson told local media: "Our priority now is the safety of our visitors and those in the surrounding area." The mayor of Boom, Jeroen Baert is understood to have cancelled his holiday in Germany and will be returning to handle the fall out from the fire. Fire crews shared concerns the blaze could spread to nearby woods and images have shown the blaze rapidly spreading through the area - although locals have been told the smoke is not toxic. Tomorrowland's main stage is considered a centre piece of the festival and typically reflects its yearly theme. This year, the theme was "The World of Orbyz." Video shared online shows the fire ripping through the main stage with thick plumes of smoke being sent up into the air. Fireworks could also be heard popping off, although it is unclear if they are directly linked to the cause of the fire. Another clip showed the fire appeared to have started on the right side of the stage. Shocked employees could be seen moving away from the main stage towards a grassy hill as the blaze continued to tear through the structure. Further videos shared online revealed the blaze had completely destroyed the main stage, leaving the frame of the structure behind. Photos also showed emergency services had arrived at the site with firefighters bravely battling the inferno. Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! The fire is a disaster with attendees, many of which are travelling by plane, set to arrive as camping opens tomorrow. The main stage makes up a huge part of the festival area and would significantly impact the number of attendees should the decision be made to shut it down but keep the weekend slot open. The Mirror has contacted Tomorrowland's management for comment. The festival draws revellers from across the globe over two weekends in the summer. Ahead of Weekend 1, the festival announced David Guetta and Charlotte De Witte among their headliners. Tomorrowland Belgium welcomed an estimated 400,000 people from more than 200 countries in 2024. The festival sold out in record time this year with 800,000 people expected to have attended over the two weekends, according to DJ Mag. According to Eventplanner, the festival has made more than 112.8 million Euros in revenue in recent years.

The Scottish foodie village with gorgeous beach perfect for summer day out
It is once again time for the Daily Record's Town of the Week. Every week, we choose one town or village from across Scotland and delve into everything it has to offer. For the latest edition of our weekly series, we are journeying to Cullen. The pretty village by the seaside in Moray is a great place to spend a sunny summer day, with plenty of walks and beauty spots to check out. The most notable destination around the village is Cullen Beach, a golden sandy beach that looks out over Cullen Bay. It is sheltered by the surrounding cliffs, making it a great spot for a swim. Another top beauty spot well worth checking out is the Cullen Viaduct. The disused railway line, which dates back to the 1880s, crosses the Burn of Cullen. Meanwhile, Cullen is perhaps most famous for being where Cullen skink originated. The iconic Scottish dish is a thick Scottish soup that includes smoked haddock, potatoes, and onions. It isn't just its history that makes Cullen a top foodie destination. Despite its small size, there are various restaurants and cafés that serve up top-quality food. Among the standouts of the village's food scene are Linda's Fish and Chips and the Rockpool Cafe. The former is a great spot to pick up a fish supper to enjoy on the beach, while the Rockpool Cafe serves up a wide selection of breakfast and lunch dishes—including of course Cullen skink. See below for some photographs of Cullen's highlights.
