£30,000 is all you need for Audi's brilliant electric GT

The GT does have a number of known issues, and dealerships and independent specialists are familiar with what tends to go wrong. While the GT has less moving parts than its ICE counterparts, there are plenty of things that can still break or fail.
Like many electric cars, most of the issues that afflict the GT are software related, but these can typically be resolved via an update at a dealer. We'd also recommend getting a dealer warranty should any major components like the battery or motor fail.
Drivetrain: Watch out for the dreaded dead throttle pedal, especially after coming to a stop at traffic lights. Turning the car on and off again can cure the issue, but a software update should stop it recurring – check the car's history to see if this has been done.
Some 2023 cars were recalled due to battery fire risk, so check to make sure that has been done too.
Gearbox: Watch out for the 'Drive system malfunction' message on the dash – various issues can cause it. Worst case is the car will need a new gearbox and coolant system, which can fail, but a software update can sometimes cure it.
Tyres: Big EVs with oodles of power generally get through tyres quickly so check the wide, 265-section rubber. A set of four can easily set you back £1000.
Brakes: A long brake pedal or fluctuating pressure could mean brake module failure. Replacement costs vary, but a new servo is between £600 and £1000.Make sure the brake hoses have been repaired, particularly if you're looking at a 2022-24 car. Front axle hoses could tear, leading to brake failure.
Electrics: Cameras and infotainment screens are susceptible to software glitches. Dealer updates should cure them. Same applies to the rear spoiler, which can sometimes fail to deploy.
'Electrical system fault. Safely stop the vehicle' is a warning message you don't want to see. It could mean the front motor is leaking coolant and needs replacing – it can cost around £10k if you don't have a warranty.
An owner's view
Dusan Prastalo: 'I've owned a 2022 E-tron GT since July last year and love its stunning looks, high-quality interior and smooth, powerful drive. Despite initial hesitation about battery longevity, I was won over by the design. It's comfortable, has good range (260-280 miles) and solid efficiency (up to 3.9mpkWh).
"There were a few early issues – recalls, a brief SOS fault, noisy brakes and rattling plastic trim. Surprisingly, build quality doesn't feel as premium as on my older Audi TT and A1. Still, I enjoy the driving experience and performance, though Audi could have done better with traditional quality details like door feel and cabin refinement.'
Also worth knowing
E-trons need servicing at a dealer or specialist every two years or 20,000 miles, whichever is first.
The standard Goodyear Eagle F1s are tailored towards efficiency, so if you want a bit more grip you might consider swapping them for Michelin Pilot Sport 4s.
E-tron GTs are available in Vorsprung trim; RS versions come in Carbon Black, which adds sporty black styling, or range-topping Carbon Vorsprung, which has a carbonfibre roof and Alcantara cabin trim.

New Jaguar car that lead disastrous ‘woke rebrand' seen for the first time… with fans divided over whether they like it

JAGUAR'S controversial new concept car has finally been revealed in person for the first time - sparking intense debate between fans. Onlookers got to see the Jag which has been at the forefront of its "woke" rebrand. 5 5 5 5 Jaguar unveiled its new Type 00 concept car for the first time on Friday morning at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. The car will never go on sale in its existing form. Instead, it is a concept car exhibited to showcase Jaguar's new "exuberant modernism." The car stunned Goodwood's guests with its spotless, striking blue exterior which drew large crowds from across the festival. The colour was a significant departure from the pink colour dressing the 00 when it was first announced late last year. When the 30-second ad was first unveiled, flashing up a number of slogans, including "live vivid", "delete ordinary" and "copy nothing", fans on social media were not happy. Musk simply asked Jaguar on X: ''Do you sell cars?' This weekend, fans had the chance to comment on the car's new design after physically seeing it. Jaguar boss doubles down & DEFENDS new 'woke Tesla' pink EV in controversial rebrand Speaking to The Times, many fans were left unimpressed by Jaguar's new concept car and new brand direction. "The back's horrendous," said one fan. Another assessed: 'They've wrecked the brand. " The logo is awful, it looks like it was designed by a child. One fan even said the new ad campaign had led him to sell his F-Pace. Others did enjoy some of the features of the new car, saying they thought it was cool and futuristic. In November, the controversial ad excluded any images of its sleek sports cars as it touted its transition to a fully electric, ultra-luxury company. The scrapping of the well-known big cat badge in favour of a geometric 'J' design also drew fierce criticism. At the time of release, one Facebook user commented: "If I wasn't sure before, now I'm convinced Jaguar have completely lost the plot. This woke nonsense won't gain anything." Another said: "As someone who worked for this iconic brand up until production cessation in June it really does sadden me to see the direction the company has decided to take." 5

My niece thought she had gotten a ‘great deal' after trading in her $30,000 Ford… I was furious after learning what the car dealership had done

A furious uncle has accused a car dealership of ripping off his niece when they sold her Ford Ranger for almost double what they paid her for it when she traded it in. Car enthusiast Razz Ghetto blasted a dealership within Car City Minchinbury, western Sydney, after learning of his niece's bad experience there. She had bought the Ranger with her then-partner for between $20,000 and $30,000, but decided to trade it in for a cheaper model and some cash. The influencer said he was stunned to learn his niece had left the dealership with only a VE V6 Holden Commodore and $3,000 cash. He claimed his niece was told the Commodore was worth about $10,000 to $11,000, and that she received $14,000 in total, including the cash payment. But, he claimed a VE V6 Holden Commodore in good condition would only sell for about $5,000, and was likely worth significantly less. In a major blow to his niece, the dealership advertised the Ford Ranger for $24,995 soon after she traded it in, the car enthusiast claimed. 'They've just taken the first offer not knowing better,' he said in a TikTok video. He said the deal fell well below the $20,000 minimum he expected the car to go for. This broadly aligns with the estimate from Carsales, which values a 2014 Ranger Wildtrak with similar specifications at between $21,700 to $24,900. 'I know at the end of the day, people should know better before doing these things, but sometimes people are in a position where they don't have an option,' he said. 'And why can't they be given a fair go at least?' The Sydney man said the problem was bigger than the dealership in question, claiming car dealers were taking advantage of inexperienced sellers. 'I understand they've got to make money, that's what they do but come on,' he said. 'They see people coming and they'll grab them and they'll rip them (off), because they don't know better.' Social media users shared their outrage, including some who said they no longer sold at car yards, preferring to sell privately. 'It's a car yard, what do you expect?' one wrote. Some were less sympathetic, including one who said dealerships could not be expected to pay retail prices. 'A car yard will never pay retail on a trade, its worth $20k on [Facebook] Marketplace privately but to a dealer that needs to add load pay staff and make a profit you are never going to get as high as if you did privately,' they said. Another agreed owners needed to take responsibility when selling their vehicles. 'Unfortunately it does come down to you. Got to do a bit of your own research when you're making a big investment,' they said. A Car City Minchinbury spokesman declined to comment on the specific incident, but said it takes customer satisfaction 'very' seriously. 'We encourage any customer with concerns to reach out directly to the dealership involved so matters can be appropriately addressed,' he said.

Swap Gear! Dua Lipa shows off her lightning pace at Goodwood Festival of Speed with outfit change quicker than an F1 pitstop

Dua Lipa showed she was a perfect fit for this year's Goodwood Festival of Speed - with an outfit change quicker than a F1 pitstop. Arriving at the event in a black leather jacket and black, ripped jean shorts and a white T-shirt, the singer switched into a striped yellow shirt and blue jeans in record-breaking time. The 29-year-old headed to West Sussex for the charity auction of a customised Porsche 911 GT3 RS. Emblazoned with her name and the German word Rennstall, which means racing team, the colourful car was designed by Ms Lipa, with all proceeds from the auction going to the Sunny Hill Foundation. The Albanian-British star set up the charity in Kosovo to support vulnerable people in the country, with a focus on arts and culture. The sale is being organised with Sotheby's, which says the car has a value 'in excess of $400,000 (£346,000)'. Ms Lipa, said to be worth £100million, has been a Porsche ambassador since 2023. But the singer, who announced her engagement to actor Callum Turner, 35, last month, has shown she's still happy to take the train. On Tuesday, she was spotted at St Pancras station after returning from holiday on Eurostar. More than 200,000 car fans and families are enjoying the sold-out Goodwood Festival of Speed – which has become the nation's unofficial motor show set in a stately home garden party. The four-day automotive extravaganza takes place in the parkland grounds of Goodwood House, near Chichester, and is hosted by the Duke of Richmond – under whose stewardship it has grown massively in scale and ambition since its launch in 1993. As well as attracting a record number of champion drivers and cars from Formula One – this year enjoying its 75th anniversary – the Festival of Speed provides a launchpad for debuts from sporting, luxury, supercar and mainstream car firms including Aston Martin, with its new Vantage S and Vanquish Volante, BMW, Chevrolet and Ferrari. Goodwood marks the UK debut of Renault's new R4 E-Tech electric crossover, which is also tackling the challenging 1.16-mile hill-climb course. Priced in three trim levels from £26,995 to £30,995, the new R4 is the more practical sibling of the award-winning Renault 5 E-Tech, costing from £22,995, which landed in UK driveways from April. Order books for the R4 open from July 15 ahead of the first deliveries in October. On static display is a design model of the head-banging £140,000 555hp Renault 5 Turbo 3e mini supercar, which accelerates from 0 to 62 mph in under 3.5 seconds, up to a top speed of 167 mph. Expect first deliveries from 2027. Legendary American marque Chevrolet is unveiling its first hybrid Corvette 'muscle-car' with my name on it: the 643 horsepower (473 kW) E-Ray. Combining a 6.2 litre V8 petrol engine with an electric motor, it accelerates from 0 to 62 mph in a sizzling 2.9 seconds and is available to order in right-hand drive from £153,440 for the coupe and £159,230 for the convertible. First deliveries in September. Chinese car-giant BYD presents its new premium brand Denza, ahead of its UK launch in early 2026. It is showing three fully electric and plug-in hybrid cars: a Z9 GT shooting brake, upmarket MPV called D9 and a rugged Land Rover Discovery rival called B5. BYD itself recently launched its new Dolphin Surf electric city car with a range of 200 miles and priced from £18,650. Ferrari is featuring four new models, including debuts of the new Amalfi sports car, which I road tested this month, the 296 Speciale, F80 and 12Cilindri. The giant central display in front of Goodwood House honours 60 years of car design by the legendary Gordon Murray, whose highlights include the McLaren F1 supercar and lightweight T.50 hypercar.
