TV execs revealed stars like Julie Wilson Nimmo, who played Miss Hoolie, and Andrew Agnew, who portrayed PC Plum, are back for the new version.
Kim Tserkezie, who was Penny Pocket, and Juliet Cadzow, the show's Edie McCredie, are also set to reprise their roles when the revamped series airs on CBeebies and BBC iPlayer.
However eagle-eyed viewers spotted that original cast member Rodd Christensen was missing from the line-up.
Rodd, from Las Vegas, played Spencer the Painter in the popular children's television programme from 2002 to 2005.
One viewer wrote: "Why isn't Spencer (Rodd Christensen) in these photos? Is he going to be in the show?"
A third added: "My kids absolutely loved Spencer, we're gutted he's not coming back."
Another said: "Will Spencer be a part of the reboot?"
Rodd, who now lives in Las Vegas with his family, explained to a fan on Instagram that he would not be involved at this time.
He said: "I would've loved to, but I won't be a part of this reboot at this moment."
The original show, filmed in scenic Tobermory, Mull, ran from 2002 to 2005.
Miss Hoolie returns to Balamory as fans go wild for first look at new BBC series
And the new series will blend familiar faces with a host of new characters, offering preschoolers a 'joyful mix of stories, comedy, songs and adventures'.
At its heart remains the charming fictional town of Balamory and its lively inhabitants, where brightly-coloured houses cluster around a scenic harbour and life revolves around the nursery school and its caring teacher.
Brand new characters include scientist and inventor Ava Potts, played by Danielle Jam, local vet Dr Ollie Carl Spencer, who lives with his two children and the Harbour Master, played by William Andrews.
Filming will take place both in studio in Glasgow and on location in Tobermory, the real-life Isle of Mull town that inspired the show's iconic setting.

Kate Morton, Head of Commissioning BBC Children's and Education, said: "It's wonderful to see some of the original cast returning alongside new faces, creating a perfect mix of nostalgia and discovery for families to enjoy together.
"This vibrant new series will delight both children and the grown-ups who remember it fondly."
The original Balamory was also shown in Australia, Canada, the US and Hong Kong.

The show stars a giant T-Rex, triceratops, brontosaurus, and other lifelike dinosaurs like spinosaurs, velociraptors, and baby dinos As Glasgow continues to embrace dinosaur fever this summer, a prehistoric spectacle is gearing up to storm into Braehead Arena for the September weekend, promising a jaw-dropping experience for families. The hit show Jurassic Earth is set to take over the arena on Friday, September 27, bringing lifelike animatronic dinosaurs to the stage for a thrilling 75-minute interactive adventure, Glasgow Live reports. Two performances will take place on the day, at 12 noon and 3pm, with tickets now available through the Braehead Arena website. Featuring an extraordinary cast of creatures, the show includes a 22-foot-long, 14-foot-tall walking Tyrannosaurus Rex, reportedly the largest in the world, alongside an 18-foot triceratops, a towering 26-foot brontosaurus, and a range of other species. Dinosaur fans can also expect to meet characters like Spencer and Stevo the spinosaurs, Rocky and Richie the velociraptors, Dash the carnotaurus, Tank the triceratops and a host of baby dinosaurs. The show promises up-close encounters, audience participation, songs, dances and even dinosaur ranger training for the younger crowd. Russ Smith, CEO of Braehead Arena, said the upcoming event is a perfect fit for the venue's future vision. 'We have big plans here at Braehead Arena so what better way to kick them off than with the biggest show of all – literally,' he said. 'These dinosaurs are incredible, I saw the show with my kids and they loved it so it was something I definitely wanted to bring to the arena. 'Apparently space is sometimes an issue for the larger dinos so this is the perfect venue – we certainly don't have any concerns on that front so let's go BIG. 'We want to be everything to everyone here at Braehead Arena, so this amazing modern marvel of a show is perfect for us… you'll have a roaring good time.' At the centre of the action is Ranger Danger, the audience's guide through the experience. Children will take part in a special training session to prepare them in case of an unexpected dinosaur escape, all part of the immersive fun. Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! Chloe Ferry shocks mum by sending staggering amount to bank account as a surprise
Determined to make sure her mum Elizabeth knew she was loved, Chloe Ferry sent her thousands of pounds so she could go out a treat herself to something special Flush Chloe Ferry stunned her mum by sending her £15,000 for her to treat herself with - and shared her generosity with millions of her followers. She wired the eye-watering sum to Elizabeth in a spontaneous act of kindness before telling the world all about it. She uploaded a screenshot of their conversation to Instagram and her mum knew straight away what she would be buying - a new coat she has had her eye on. Captioning the exchange 'Best feeling giving my mam the treatment she deserves', Chloe told her to "check her bank account... sent you 15k happy birthday" even though it wasn't her big day. Elizabeth replied to her reality TV star daughter saying: "In shock thankyou so much I'm speechless but really happy don't have to worry now. I'm lucky x" Geordie Shore's Chloe then told her: "I no its not your birthday I was joking, but that is for you to treat yourself. Love you. You deserve the world." Her thrilled mum said: "I def will I'm on cloud 9 I can buy that rain coat I saw the other day x". The 29-year-old was declared a millionaire back in 2020 and the cash has continued to roll in. Chloe makes her money from her appearance on Geordie Shore, her Instagram sponsored posts, which can be worth over £3,500 each, as well as personal appearances at various events and nightclubs across the country, and of course, through her beauty products range. She has also appeared on Celebrity Big Brother and Celebs Go Dating. The pair are close and have helped each other cope with some family trauma after Chloe announced that her dad had died from cancer in 2022. She struggling following his death, and had been working out at the gym in an effort to help process her grief and boost her mental health. Alongside the video, Chloe captioned it: "RIP to my beautiful dad. You asked one wish at Christmas for all of us to be happy and together and here we all are we miss you everyday and we wish you were here." She added: "I've struggled to write this and still can't accept it what I'm about to say! "I'm a very open person and normally happy to share all details of my life, however this is a time where I really need to have some privacy. I sadly lost my dad after his battle with cancer and it still doesn't feel real. "I am going to take a break from social media and work commitments. "As a family we are all dealing with this and trying to come to terms with it... I'd really appreciate it if I was given some time to deal with it in my own way!" Chloe shot to fame when she was just 19 on Geordie Shore and earlier this year, when speaking to The Mirror, Chloe admitted that if she hadn't got her foot in the door of reality TV, she would have ended up 'on the dole'. Opening up about how different her life would be without the success of Geordie Shore, the Newcastle native admitted: 'I would probably be on the dole. No joke about it. 'In all seriousness, I did year 11 twice to try and get GCSE's and I didn't get any. I went to college to do dance and I failed it. So, I'm not sure where I would be without Geordie Shore.'
