Stuart Kettlewell hails Max Stryjek after Kilmarnock's cup win over Livingston
Stryjek has returned to Scottish football three years after leaving Livi for Wycombe and after a season of largely playing understudy at Jagiellonia Bialystok in his homeland.
Speaking after his first home match in charge, Kettlewell said of his keeper: 'You just see his experience, don't you? He's some character, but he just wants to play football. He wants to get back out on the pitch.
'He's been a guy for a number of years now that's been active in the game, playing, being involved, under pressure, doing well.
'So I think you can kind of see that in his performance. He's been really vibrant about the place and delighted that he performed as well as he did.'
Killie triumphed thanks to a 31st-minute own goal from Mo Sylla, who was unfortunate to see the ball bounce in off him after some poor handling from goalkeeper Jerome Prior.
'I need to rein myself in for being negative, because I absolutely think we can play much better than what we did,' Kettlewell added. 'I think we'll have to over the course of the season.
'What the players showed us was a bit of grit, a bit of determination, to make sure they dragged themselves across the line to get the three points.'
Livingston manager David Martindale was encouraged by some of his team's attacking play and is set to add to his squad in the coming days.
Martindale will attend a work permit hearing on Thursday in a bid to sign 36-year-old DR Congo international striker Jeremy Bokila from Willem II, who were relegated from the Dutch top flight last season.
'I'm pretty confident it will get passed, he is coming from a real top level,' he said.
'And then there's two younger ones who I'm speaking to their parent clubs about. Whether that's going to be loans or permanent deals…
'If I can get those three players in the building this week or early next week, I'll be over the moon with what we've got, although we would need to trim the squad a bit.'

Rennes are now thought to be the next Ligue 1 club ready to come to the table after selling former Celtic striker Kyogo Furuhashi to Birmingham and preparing to bank a further £20m from the sale of another striker, Arnaud Kalimuendo. But Feyenoord could jump to the front of the queue with sources in the Netherlands insisting that the interest in the Moroccan international is 'very serious' even if a £15m fee would be 'at the very top end' of Feyenoord's budget. Igamane has been named in Russell Martin 's squad for the Champions League double header against Panathinaikos but is not expected to lead the Rangers attack in tomorrow night's first leg tie, with former Feyenoord frontman Danilo tipped to get the nod up front. Tributes have been paid to a teenage Scottish ice hockey player who lost his life after falling from a balcony at an Ibiza hotel. Gary Kelly died instantly in the fall at the Ibiza Rocks Hotel in the early hours of Monday. According to local media, two ambulances were sent to the scene but paramedics could do nothing to save him. The tragedy comes just two weeks after Evan Thompson, from Aberdeen, lost his life at the same hotel. The 26-year old was celebrating with friends when he fell from a balcony. Mr Kelly's family have paid tribute to him on social media. In a post on Facebook, Kharis Kelly wrote: 'Our hearts are shattered beyond words. Our handsome boy has gone to the other side, Absolutely no words.'We are asking everyone to respect our privacy as a family while we try to navigate through this tragic news. The death of the teenager comes weeks after young Scottish holidaymaker died at the same hotel in similar circumstances. Evan Thomson, 26, from Aberdeen, died after falling from a sixth-floor balcony at the Ibiza Rocks Hotel on July 7. On Monday afternoon, Ibiza Rocks issued a statement and confirmed that it had paused events following the deaths. The statement read: "We are deeply shocked and devastated by the recent incidents that have tragically occurred. 'Our priority is to support those affected and their loved ones during this incredibly difficult time, and to fully assist the authorities with their investigations. 'The safety and wellbeing of our guests has, and always will remain, our highest priority. "Given the seriousness of the situation and out of respect for those involved, we believe it is right to pause our advertised events programme at this time."
