She shared, 'I believe we're at an inflection point where we must choose between further fragmentation or renewed connection. The practice of Deep Listening isn't just a nice communication skill – it's a necessary foundation for addressing complex challenges, in a business or society, from climate change to adapting to AI.' Kasriel hopes that by creating a comprehensive guide 'to equip readers with practical tools to bridge divides in their personal lives, professional settings, and communities,' she will ultimately contribute to a less polarized, more connected world.

Kasriel's reflections on polarization and the urgency of reconnection made me think about how her professional background might have positioned her to understand and teach about the power of listening. I asked her how her experiences shaped her thinking in the book. She shared, 'As a broadcaster, I spent years interviewing people from presidents to market traders to musicians, but it took me time to learn that the most compelling stories emerge when you create a space where people feel deeply heard.' She admitted that, early on, she made the mistake many interviewers make – planning the next move or question instead of being fully present. Kasriel explained, 'For too long, I squandered my attention thinking of the next brilliant question to ask, the best way to challenge my speaker, rather than being fully present with what was unfolding right in front of me. In the book, I tell the story of an interview I conducted with the Ethiopian president, Meles Zenawi. He was a complex and contradictory character, but my desire to hold him to account about human rights abuses stopped me from broadcasting what could have been a truly illuminating interview – he cut it off early.' The experience stuck with Kasriel, as did another more recent experience. She shared, 'I interviewed a climate denying dairy farmer, and here I was able to use Deep Listening to uncover his deeper narrative, to make sense of his story, so that when I published it on the BBC website, though it was framed with substantial climate science, he still felt heard.'
Kasriel adheres to this commitment to listening in her work beyond journalism and broadcasting. She explained, 'In my work as an executive coach and mediator, Deep Listening plays a central, indeed indispensable, role. I've discovered here how rare it is for someone to feel completely listened to – how people open up and share authentic perspectives when they sense you're genuinely interested rather than just waiting for your turn to speak.' She added, 'In my mediating, I witnessed how transformative it can be when people who see each other as enemies have the experience of being genuinely heard by the 'other side.' In these settings, I refined techniques for creating safety and holding space during difficult conversations-skills that directly informed several of the eight steps in my methodology.'
Given her extensive experience, Kasriel realized that listening is not a passive act but a deliberate practice. She noted that both meditation and academic research demonstrate that Deep Listening 'isn't passive but requires active engagement and careful attention to what's beneath surface-level communication. Through listening differently, you transform what your speaker shares or even thinks.'
Kasriel's stories throughout her book reminded me how often we underestimate the impact of being deeply heard by others. I asked her if a pivotal moment or experience convinced her that Deep Listening could be transformational. She explained, 'The global study I outline in Part One of my book, in the chapter 'How Deep Listening Will Enrich Your Life' – represented a defining moment in demonstrating to me Deep Listening's power.'

She had 1000 participants from 119 countries engage in the project, and the results are powerful. Kasriel noted, 'The academic researchers were struck by a consistent pattern: regardless of background, when people experienced being truly heard, they a greater degree of connection with their conversation partners, felt safer to express themselves and genuinely understood, and gained insight about themselves, linking to an openness to re-examine their own attitudes.' The conversations took on difficult issues, yet people could engage meaningfully. Kasriel explained, 'They also demonstrated better listening behaviours even as they discussed topics about which they profoundly disagreed: Does personal success depend on social class? Should reparations be paid to the descendants of enslaved people? Social media – good or bad for humanity?'
What was most striking for Kasriel was the ripple effect that Deep Listening could produce. She stated, 'What ultimately convinced me to dedicate my work to this practice was recognizing how often Deep Listening creates ripple effects that extend beyond the initial conversation. When people experience being deeply heard, they become more likely to listen deeply to others, creating a virtuous cycle that gradually transforms communication patterns. Seeing this phenomenon repeat across different settings, from corporate boardrooms to diverse communities, made it clear that Deep Listening represents not just a personal skill but a social technology with the power to, in part, address our most pressing collective challenges.'
There are eight steps to Deep Listening in Kasriel's book: 1.) Create Space; 2.) Listen to Yourself; 3.) Be Present; 4.) Be Curious; 5.) Hold the Gaze; 6.) Hold the Silence; 7. Reflect Back; and 8.) Go Deeper. I asked her which steps people find most challenging and why. This was an easy answer for Kasriel; she said Step 6. As she conveyed, 'Hold the Silence consistently emerges as the most challenging aspect of Deep Listening for most people that I train. As I explore in this chapter, silence makes many of us profoundly uncomfortable – we rush to fill it, perceiving it as awkward, unproductive, or even threatening.' Kasriel further explained that a discomfort with silence is deeply ingrained in us and cultural: 'This discomfort reveals how deeply our culture conditions us to equate communication value with speech rather than receptive listening. Many participants in my workshops report feeling almost physically unable to allow silence to extend beyond a few seconds, describing an overwhelming urge to jump in with questions, commentary, or redirection.'
Kasriel attributes the difficulty that people have to both internal and external pressures. She shared, 'First, there's the performance anxiety many feel in conversation – the pressure to demonstrate competence by speaking rather than listening. Second, silence creates space for emotions and vulnerabilities to surface, which can feel threatening when we're accustomed to keeping interactions at a safe, surface level. Third, particularly in professional contexts, there's often an efficiency mindset that views silence as wasted time rather than as the fertile ground from which deeper insights emerge.' And yet, when people work to push past their discomfort, they often discover something transformative. Kasriel explained it this way:
As a practical person, I asked Kasriel what advice she would give to educators or leaders who hope to embed Deep Listening into their work with students or teams. She advised, 'Begin by modelling Deep Listening yourself rather than simply teaching it as a concept. Students and team members will learn more from experiencing being deeply heard by you than from any theoretical explanation of listening techniques.' Kasriel emphasized vulnerability and authenticity as well. She explained, 'This means demonstrating vulnerability by acknowledging when you don't have answers, showing genuine curiosity about diverse perspectives, and visibly incorporating what you hear into your thinking and decision-making. When educators and leaders consistently practice Deep Listening, it sends a powerful message that creates psychological safety and gradually shifts the culture toward more authentic communication and all that can unfold from that.'
Kasriel also encouraged embedding Deep Listening into regular routines, not merely reserving it for special occasions. She stated,
In ending our exchange, Kasriel reminded me that systems and structures often need to shift to support listening. She said, 'Directly address the systemic barriers to Deep Listening in your environment. In educational settings, this might mean examining how grading systems and participation structures can undermine attentive listening by rewarding quick responses over thoughtful consideration. In organizational contexts, examine how productivity metrics, meeting structures, and communication technologies might be inhibiting Deep Listening. Creating conditions for Deep Listening often requires challenging fundamental assumptions about efficiency, success, and knowledge creation." According to Kasriel, when naming and addressing these types of barriers, "educators and leaders can create sustainable cultures where Deep Listening becomes not just possible but natural, ultimately leading to stronger and more trusting relationships and a greater commitment to the organisation and business, gold dust for any employer.'
Engaging with Kasriel made me contemplate that listening is not just a 'soft skill' or a communication tool. It is a form of leadership. It is a way of building or restoring trust, building bridges to others, and making space for emotion. Deep Listening also helps people to feel seen and heard. In her book, Kasriel invites the reader to slow down, be present, and engage with each other with intention. And most importantly, she urges us to remember that we can transform our fragile culture through Deep Listening.

As of July 24, it trades just 1% off its peak -- and there is still upside. But if you invest $10,000 in the crypto in 2025, will you become a millionaire in 10 years? Bitcoin's growing adoption The world has now woken up to Bitcoin. Its 10-year track record is impressive. And the crypto has climbed 80% just in the past 12 months, as its incredible ascent continues. Investors appreciate its scarcity, with a hard supply cap of 21 million coins -- in stark contrast to other tokens on the market. And it's significantly better than fiat currencies, which are constantly being debased due to governments' troubling financial actions that cause spending and debt to increase. Institutions are getting in on the action. Spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) have so far been wildly successful, bringing in tens of billions of dollars of capital since January 2024. Banks can now hold the crypto on behalf of clients, getting the green light from the U.S. Office of the Comptroller of the Currency. And corporations own it on their balance sheets, a strategy that has helped drive up market valuations. The U.S. government is becoming accommodating as well. The White House created the Strategic Bitcoin Reserve. And Trump Media & Technology Group just announced a $2 billion purchase of the digital currency and related securities. These trends drastically reduce the risk of buying and holding it. Growing adoption among major market participants is definitely a bullish indicator. Beating the stock market In the past decade, the S&P 500 index has generated a total return of 261%. This translates to an annualized gain of 13.7%, which is well ahead of the long-term average of 10%. Even if the closely watched benchmark repeats its superb performance over the next decade, I think Bitcoin will do even better. Because it doesn't produce revenue, net income, or free cash flow, investors struggle to properly value it. However, it's worth comparing the digital asset to gold, which is a scarce, neutral global asset that is also viewed as a store of value. Gold has a total value of $22.6 trillion, with Bitcoin's market cap sitting at $2.4 trillion. It's extremely reasonable to expect the cryptocurrency's price to rise tenfold over the next decade; it would simply have to get to parity with gold's value today. That's not hard to believe, especially when you consider the properties that make it superior to the precious metal. Plus, the ongoing digitization of our economy, coupled with the advancement of artificial intelligence agents, might provide another boost. This would turn a $10,000 investment into $100,000 in 10 years' time. No one would argue with this wonderful outcome. However, I don't think Bitcoin will rise 100-fold by 2035, which would turn a $10,000 outlay into $1 million. This kind of monster gain is a thing of the past -- the digital token is slowly maturing. And as it increases in value, the upside from that point forward naturally declines. But those who are able to invest more cash up front and extend their time horizon to several decades, can certainly raise the probability of becoming millionaires from Bitcoin. Emulating PC games on your non-Snapdragon device just got better
Hadlee Simons / Android Authority TL;DR GameSir has announced that its GameHub app now offers much better support for MediaTek chipsets with Mali GPUs. The company also revealed that it's working with MediaTek to launch custom Mali GPU drivers. GameHub lets people play PC games on their Android phones without streaming. There are a few ways to natively play PC games on your phone without streaming, with Winlator and GameSir's GameHub app being the most popular solutions. These apps traditionally offer better support for Qualcomm Snapdragon devices, but there's good news if you've got a MediaTek-powered device. GameSir announced via its app that the latest version of GameHub offers much better support for devices with Mali GPUs. It points to devices with MediaTek Dimensity chips, specifically mentioning the Dimensity 9000 to 9400 processors. It says these devices should support DirectX9 to DirectX11 PC games 'with performance comparable to Qualcomm Adreno, and even surpassing it in some scenarios.' The GameHub team delved into some technical challenges with Mali GPUs, starting with the unsatisfactory Vulkan implementation. It pointed to issues like 'unstable' shader compilers and missing driver capabilities. So how did GameSir address these problems? For one, the team said it invested time and resources in debugging/analyzing Dimensity devices and 'optimized' resource scheduling. Furthermore, it created a 'code conversion mechanism to optimize DirectX instructions into a format executable by Mali GPUs.' The team says it also made runtime optimizations in cases where the driver functionality wasn't adequate. Weirdly enough, the GameHub team also claimed that it offers 'native support' for 32-bit PC games. That sounds rather crazy, as compatibility layers like Wine or tools like Box can incur a performance penalty and technically don't offer native support. In some major news for mobile gamers, GameSir also said it's teaming up with MediaTek to eventually offer custom GPU drivers. We plan to jointly launch custom drivers with MediaTek, specifically designed for GameFusion, to address long-standing Mali GPU issues at the chip level, further enhancing the gaming performance of Dimensity devices. There's no release timeline for these drivers, though. This is still welcome news, as one major advantage of Snapdragon devices is the prevalence of open-source Adreno drivers (dubbed Turnip). These drivers can improve emulation/gaming performance and address bugs. MediaTek isn't the only chipmaker using Mali GPUs, though. Google Pixel phones with Tensor chips use Mali GPUs too. We've asked GameSir's representatives whether some of these improvements will filter down to Pixel phones. We've also asked the representatives for more details on 'native support' for 32-bit PC games. We'll update the article when the company gets back to us. Nevertheless, we hope a few of these improvements and optimizations come to Pixel devices. However, Pixel 10 rumors suggest that Google will switch to Imagination GPUs. Can Buying $10,000 of Nvidia Stock Still Make You a Millionaire?

Achieving this goal is theoretically possible, but highly improbable. 10 stocks we like better than Nvidia › If you had invested $10,000 in Nvidia (NASDAQ: NVDA) on the day of its initial public offering in 1999 and never sold, you'd have a whopping $42.4 million today. Even if you had waited until 2015 to buy $10,000 of the stock and held on for the wild ride, your investment would be worth roughly $3.58 million now. But, as the old saying goes, hindsight is 20/20. Can buying $10,000 of Nvidia stock still make you a millionaire? What it would take Let's first address what it would take for a $10,000 investment in Nvidia to make you a millionaire. The math is simple: Since $1 million divided by $10,000 is 100, Nvidia would need to deliver a 100x gain. Most stocks aren't able to produce that kind of return, even over a lifetime. However, Nvidia has done it in less than nine years. Admittedly, it's hard to envision Nvidia doing it again. After all, the GPU maker now sports a market cap of over $4.2 trillion -- the highest valuation for any company ever. To turn $10,000 into $1 million, Nvidia's market cap would have to grow to a mind-blowing $420 trillion. To put that figure into perspective, the U.S. GDP last year was roughly $29.2 trillion. The GDP for the entire world was around $110.5 trillion. All Nvidia would have to do to make you a millionaire with a $10,000 investment is to grow to 3.8 times the economic output of every country on the planet. Easy, peasy, right? Potential scenarios It's hard to envision how Nvidia could grow 100x. However, I can come up with two potential scenarios where it could at least theoretically happen. The first scenario involves Nvidia achieving a revolutionary breakthrough that gives it a monopoly on technology that everyone wants. Maybe the company builds a teleportation device that allows people and products to be instantly transported anywhere. Perhaps a more likely goal would be to create AI superintelligence, an artificial general intelligence (AGI) system that's smarter than any human who has ever lived. Nvidia has teamed up with partners, including Turing, who are trying to develop AGI systems. The company's GEAR group (GEAR stands for "generalist embodied agent research") is trying to build foundation models, agents, and robots that might eventually achieve AGI. The second scenario requires time and consistently strong earnings growth. Nvidia's earnings jumped 31% year over year in the first quarter of 2025. Stock prices tend to track earnings growth over the long term. If we assume that Nvidia continues to grow by 31% for the next 17 or so years, its share price would increase by 100x. However, to deliver such stellar growth over such a long period, Nvidia might need a game-changing breakthrough mentioned in the first scenario. Facing long odds Is it possible that buying $10,000 of Nvidia stock right now could make you a millionaire? Sure. Is it probable? No way. The odds against Nvidia delivering a 100x gain are enormous. Of course, that's true for pretty much any other stock. However, I suspect that Nvidia could still make investors millionaires. It'll just take more money and potentially a long time. If you want $10,000 to turn into $1 million, though, you might have to find a smaller stock with tremendous growth prospects -- in other words, another Nvidia of 10 to 20 years ago.
