On the fourth Sunday, the film made Rs 2.85 crore, and on Saturday, it picked up Rs 2.5 crore. This pattern shows that while the weekdays are slowing down, families and movie lovers are still showing up in good numbers during the weekends. More than just another sports film Directed by RS Prasanna, 'Sitaare Zameen Par' is not your usual sports drama. It beautifully mixes sports, comedy and heartfelt moments. The story follows Aamir Khan as a basketball coach who is suspended and then asked to do community service. This leads him to train a team of players with disabilities for a big tournament. 'Sitaare Zameen Par' review 'Sitaare Zameen Par' has mostly struck the right chord with reviewers. The Times of India gave it a solid 3.5-star rating. The review shared, 'The film mixes sentiment with spunk, avoiding overly preachy tones. ID (intellectual disabilities) is described through relatable lines like, 'Humaari kismat haathon pe nahi, chromosome pe likh ke aati hai (Our destiny isn't written on our palms — it's written in our chromosomes). ' While the underdog sports narrative and troubled-coach arc feel familiar, the film's heart and humour keep it engaging.' But it wasn't all glowing. The same review also pointed out a few bumps in the story. It noted, 'That said, the story does wander. Subplots involving his mother, Preeto ( Dolly Ahluwalia Tewari), and their butler Daulatji (Bijendra Kala) contribute little to the core story. A few other sequences feel stretched, and pacing suffers in parts. The climax gets overly sentimental in parts. Some scenes, like the team managing airfare and accommodation for the final match, come across as convenient and trite.'

When fashion entrepreneur Sharada Narayanan stood on stage with her counterparts from across the world, waiting with sheer anticipation and racing hearts for the announcement of Mrs Classique Globe Choice of the People, she took a moment to process that her name had been called out. 'I was in a complete shock. I don't think I reacted the way everybody usually does – the awe, the crying or hands thrown up in the air,' she recalls. While winning the title with 50 other contestants competing for it might have been a surprise for Narayanan, her mentor, Veena Jain, the winner of Mrs India Globe Classique 2017, had complete confidence. 'When we started from Bengaluru, I had a feeling that we were going to make it this year. It may have been a surprise for Sharada, but for me, I was very confident that she was going to come out with the title – her confidence and elegance made me believe so. I'm especially proud because this is the first time an Indian delegate has won such an honour,' says Jain. Achieving the highly coveted Swarovski crystal-studded crown was no easy feat with Narayanan's schedule being jam-packed with rehearsals and galas from the moment she arrived at Palm Springs on June 16 to the moment she was crowned on June 21. 'Once we went there, it was a complete grind – it's like a boot camp. We get up early in the morning and go on late into the night on some days. You go through one regiment after the other, but there were a lot of fun times in between practice and exercise too, when we got to bond with women from different countries and cultures,' says Narayanan, explaining the preparations that went into the three final rounds – national costume, swimsuit, and evening gown – as well as the Bollywood-themed welcome party, charity galas, and preliminary rounds that preceded them.

Portrait belived to be only one Gandhi sat for sells for Rs 1.7 crore (Picture credit: Bonhams) LONDON: A rare Gandhi portrait, believed to be the only oil painting Mahatma Gandhi ever sat for, sold in an online auction at Bonhams on Tuesday for £152,800 (Rs 1.7 crore.) 'Portrait of Mahatma Gandhi' by British artist Clare Leighton sold for triple its estimate of £50,000-£70,000 (Rs 57 lakh to Rs 80 lakh). It was the top lot in the Travel and Exploration online sale and the first time this portrait has been sold at auction. According to the artist's family, the portrait was on public display in 1974 when it was allegedly attacked with a knife by a Hindu right-wing activist. The catalogue entry refers to signs of restoration to tears in several places. Leighton met Gandhi when he visited London in 1931 to attend the Second Round Table Conference. At the time, Leighton was in a relationship with political journalist Henry Noel Brailsford, who was a passionate supporter of Indian Independence. It was through this connection that she was introduced to Gandhi and was one of the few artists admitted to Gandhi's office to sit with him to sketch and paint him. In November 1931, Leighton showcased her portraits in an exhibition at the Albany Galleries in London. Journalist Winifred Holtby attended the opening and wrote: 'The little man squats bare-headed, in his blanket, one finger raised, as it often is to emphasise a point, his lips parted for a word that is almost a smile… the statesman who knows just how to play on the psychology of friends and enemies alike.'
