The woman survived is undergoing treatment at the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (Rims) in Ranchi. GRP personnel said the couple was travelling on the Varanasi Express on Thursday when the accused allegedly pushed his wife between Bhurkunda and Patratu railway stations.
The victim was found lying unconscious on the tracks and was later rescued by the Railway Protection Force (RPF). They admitted her a local govt hospital here, from where she has been referred to Rims.
Manohar Barla, officer in charge of the govt rail police (GRP) in Barkakana said, "A railway lineman found the injured woman in a ditch and alerted RPF in Patratu. With the help of dial 108, she was later admitted to Sadar Hospital in Ramgarh, from where she was referred to RIMS in Ranchi."
He said that the victim in her statement told them that she hails from Devaria in Uttar Pradesh and was travelling to Varanasi from Barkakana Junction with her husband. "They married a year back," Barla said quoting the woman, adding that the victim claimed that her husband tried to kill her but wanted to look like an accident. "We have contacted our counterparts to further the probe and trace the culprits," he said.

Bag of marijuana worth Rs 63,000 recovered from Puri-Ahmedabad train

According to officials, Raman Kumar Yadav, an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) with the RPF, was on duty as the sector in-charge for platforms 4 to 7 when the train arrived at platform number 6. Railway staff alerted the ASI about an unattended 'college-style bag' lying beneath three seats in a coach. A State Reserve Police (SRP) team reached the spot and conducted a check. A total of 6.3 kg of the drug, valued at approximately Rs 63,000, was found in the bag. To confirm the nature of the substance, the railway police sought assistance from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL), a team from which came to conduct an on-spot analysis that confirmed the substance. Following the seizure, a case was registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at the Kalupur Railway police station. Further investigation is underway. Odisha boys booked for making reels while lying on railway tracks
Two boys were booked for making a social media video lying on the railway tracks in Odisha's Bolangir district, officials said on Monday. The RPF filed the case after coming across the video on social media, they said. The East Coast Railway appealed to parents and teachers to counsel children against such reckless acts.
