BBC presenter 'flips the bird' after mistakenly believing she's not on live TV

A BBC presenter has been caught making a rude gesture towards the camera as she mocked herself for tripping over her words.
Weatherwoman Alexis Green had been reporting live from Oxford on a feature about flooding and mistakenly believed she had been taken off camera.
Of course, it's not the first time a BBC newsreader has been caught doing the same while cameras were still rolling.
In 2023, Maryam Moshiri apologised for a rude blunder after she had been jokingly counting down before cameras started rolling, and gave her middle finger when she got to 'one'.
This time, Green made the gesture towards herself after stumbling over her words during her report.
She had been saying: 'Residents here have learnt to live with flooding over the years and some say the 2007 floods were the worst they've ever experienced.'
Getting a few words mixed up, she then said: 'Now, with a warming climate, rainfall is expected to become heavier and more persistent in the future which is why people here have taken matters into their own homes… han-own, own, hands.'
'Basically, to protect their homes and their businesses,' she added, appearing to look flustered.
Thinking the camera had then cut to another clip, Green was caught on camera making gestures including appearing to give the finger.
Of course, it didn't go unnoticed by viewers, with @Brynwales writing on X: '@AlexisGreenTV we love you as much as we love live TV.'
'I saw that too,' @OliReading replied, later sharing: '@AlexisgreenTV on #BBCSouthToday was on a live broadcast but her VT cut in a second too late so we saw her reaction to her word fumble earlier.'
Sharing the clip on the platform, @Billy_runs said: '@BBCSouthToday words just didn't flow well and it showed at the end of the edit #blooper @AlexisGreenTV.'
Greggy wrote: '@AlexisGreenTV don't worry, sure no one noticed.'
Darren added: '@AlexisGreenTV A serious subject Alexis but you did make me laugh outloud!!'
When Moshiri was caught on camera making a rude gesture as the midday news bulletin began, she apologised with the whole clip later being shared.

She explained she had jokingly been counting down, culminating in pulling her middle finger for the number one as she larked around with the crew, and had not expected the moment to air.
She wrote on X: 'So someone released the full video ! It wasn't the BBC who released this and it certainly wasn't me! But in a way I think I'm glad this is out there, as it shows I WAS having a bit of a joke with the crew during the countdown. Again, so sorry it went out on air. It was meant to be a private laugh.'
As the video made its way around social media, people were in hysterics at the faux pas.
'A meme is born,' someone said, while another penned: 'I know I shouldn't laugh, but lol, what a time to be alive.'
'What a silly and unprofessional thing to do,' one viewer fumed.
Moshiri had earlier apologised on X, writing: 'Hey everyone , yesterday just before the top of the hour I was joking around a bit with the team in the gallery.
'I was pretending to count down as the director was counting me down from 10-0.. including the fingers to show the number. So from 10 fingers held up to one.
'When we got to 1 I turned finger around as a joke and did not realise that this would be caught on camera.

But fear not, the ultimate social experiment is returning to our screens this autumn for its third year on ITV, running for a total of seven weeks. This time around, the iconic eye has been filled with multiple eye like marbles rolling around. Shown to the public in an exclusive promo during Love Island's final on ITV2, the eye can be seen making its way through multicolored tubes. The broadcaster wrote: 'Eye spy with my little eye, something beginning with B…et ready — Big Brother, the original social experiment, returns!' Commenting on Instagram, several fans loved the new changes to the Big Brother eye. Five off-limit attractions in the UK offering free secret tours – including 10 Downing Street

THERE is nothing more exciting than getting to explore a place where visitors are usually not allowed. Think: Downing Street, the BBC Broadcasting House and the BT Towe 5 And as part of London 's Open House Festival, there are over 700 properties, buildings and places where the public will be welcomed to visit between September 13 and 21. Five of these are offering extremely exclusive limited tours, with a public ballet now open until August 18. According to the Open House Festival website, many of the destinations will be a "be once in a lifetime visit". Here are the five places you can enter the ballot for, as well as what dates you will be able to visit. 10 Downing Street The home of British Prime Ministers since 1735 will open its doors to the public for two sessions on September 13. Guests will get to see behind the famous black door, where some of the most important decisions in UK politics are made. Currently, 10 Downing Street is undergoing some upgrades to its facilities to ensure the historic building is preserved. BBC Broadcasting House We all know the BBC and see content from it daily, but for the Open House Festival people can go to the first ever purpose-built broadcast centre in the UK. It was built back in 1932 and features an art-deco design, including a clock tower. More recently the building was refurbished and extended to create a new broadcasting house. Inside multi-million pound upgrade for popular Scots tourist attraction The building is now home to the largest live newsroom in Europe, right at the centre of the complex. Again, to go to this spot you will need to enter the ballot, with 12, one-hour sessions on September 20. BT Tower When in the depths of London's streets, you can often catch glimpses of the BT Tower. The tower's famous revolving floor sits 158 metres above the streets of the capital. Two high speed lights will transport visitors to the revolving floor in just 30 seconds. Bizarrely, the Tower was classified as an 'official secret' until 1993 despite it being evident in the city's skyline. To see this building, you will also need to enter a ballot for one of 16 tours, each lasting 45 minutes across September 20 and 21. 5 Canada House Canada House is to the Canadian Embassy and was originally designed as two buildings. Just over 10 years ago, the building underwent a large scale revitalisation linking it to the former Sun Life Assurance of Canada building. Inside today, the building houses around 300 pieces of Canadian Art. One tour will run on September 13. London Museum Currently under construction, the public can enter a ballot to go on a tour of the Poultry Market, at the new London Museum. The London Museum is set to open in 2026, bringing new life into the historic Smithfield market buildings. And with this tour, lucky visitors will get a sneak peak ahead of its opening. Six tours will be open to the public on September 20. The museum's permanent galleries are set to open in 2026 and the 1960s Poultry Market will open in 2028. The Poultry Market will eventually house the museum's collection stores and temporary exhibition and learning spaces. 5 New locations for 2025 There are also a number of new destinations part of the festival this year including Studio AVC's offices - which are located in a 1929 shop which used to be Liberty's printing workshop and part of William Morris' Arts and Crafts legacy. Or you could head to The King's Foundation, in Hackney, which is set in a refurbished factory warehouse. And there is the London Film School as well, in a former banana warehouse. For architecture buffs, you can head inside the RIBA House of the Year from 2024. A new £100million indoor resort is also set to open in the UK with a 'next generation waterpark' and thermal spas. Plus, a much-loved UK theme park reveals new rainy day guarantee – with free return after bad weather. 5

Only Connect viewers left seriously distracted by BBC contestant's outfit - gasping 'I'm surprised the costume team allowed it!'

Only Connect viewers were left seriously distracted by one of the contestant's outfits on Monday's episode of the show. The most recent instalment of the BBC show, hosted by Victoria Coren Mitchell, saw the Metrophiles take on the Grapevines. One player, named Pam Cooke, got fans talking about her chosen attire for the programme. The IT programme manager opted for a fuchsia pink blazer, matching blouse and a stunning gold and pink jewel necklace. If that wasn't enough of the same colour, she rocked bright pink hair and a matching lip. But those watching at home flocked to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share their confusion over the outfit. One player, named Pam Cooke, got fans talking about her chosen attire for the programme (pictured) 'Surprised the costume team allowed that pink suit against that background #onlyconnect.' 'Jeez Has something gone wrong with my colour balance??' 'I find the outfits on this show to be so over the top sometimes and it's a bit distracting. They should have a wardrobe policy or something? #onlyconnect.' 'Giving me a headache - too much!' Unfortunately Pam's team didn't manage to bag the top spot. At the end of the episode Victoria told them: 'That is the end of the quiz. Looking at the final scores... the winners with 23 points are the Metrophiles. 'Very well played. 'Grapevines you finish on 19, very well played you two. 'We will of course see you later on in the series as you have another go at making your way to the next round. Many viewers rushed to X, formerly known as Twitter, to say the same thing about Pam Cooke's outfit 'Metrophiles you are already there.' It comes after Only Connect viewers fumed 'standards are slipping!' after calling out a question blunder just minutes into the BBC quiz. In a recent episode Victoria asked one of the teams: 'What is the connection between these apparently random picture clues?' A picture of British snooker player Ronnie O'Sullivan, also known as The Rocket, appeared on screen. This was swiftly followed by an image of Marvel comic book character Rocket Raccoon. The players were quick to spot the connection between the two was 'rocket', with Victoria soon confirming they were correct. She revealed the last two images they would have been shown to help them to get to the answer. These were a sketch of the early steam train Stephenson's Rocket, built nearly 200 years ago, and a photo of some rocket salad leaves. The last two images they would have been shown to help them to get to the answer included a sketch of the early steam train Stephenson's Rocket (pictured) But viewers at home were adamant the sketch did not show Stephenson's Rocket - but rather another steam locomotive. One suggested it could be Puffing Billy - the oldest train of its kind, constructed by a colliery in 1814 near Newcastle-upon-Tyne for hauling coal. Meanwhile, another was determined it was Locomotion No 1, a different early steam train built by the same engineers as Stephenson's Rocket. While Robert Stephenson and Company - also Newcastle-based - built the Rocket in 1829, Locomotion No 1 was built four years prior, in 1825.
