The actress' shimmering black suit, part of Chanel's cruise 2026 collection, made its runway debut last April. The Villa d'Este hotel in Italy served as the backdrop for the collection's showcase, featuring designs that paid homage to the Romy Schneider wearing Gabrielle Chanel designs in his 1962 movie 'Boccaccio 70,' per Luisa Zargani's WWD review of the collection.
Highlights from the collection included 'tweed miniskirts in a beautiful wisteria hue that matched the blooms on the terrace, for example, and short taffeta dresses in a peach or pink color with flounces and ruffles — although at times the frilly effect could have been toned down a bit,' Zargani added.
The collection marked a turning point for the French luxury fashion house. Matthieu Blazy, who spent much of his formative years at Bottega Veneta, was named Chanel's creative director in December 2024. The designer's first collection for the label will be featured in October. As of last April, the designer is reportedly assembling his team.
Ahead of the fall 2025 couture show, guests from Sofia Coppola to Cruz, Keira Knightley and more kicked off Paris Couture Week with the Bal d'Été at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs on Sunday in Paris. Cruz also wore a Chanel selection from the label's spring 2025 couture collection to the fete.

Kate Middleton's $9,600 Dior debut included hidden details that nodded to Princess Diana
Kate Middleton wore Dior at a public engagement for the first time on Tuesday. The ensemble celebrated France during Emmanuel Macron's visit to the UK. It also had ties to Princess Diana. "It's Dior, darling," Kate Middleton likely thought to herself as she looked at her outfit on Tuesday. Prince William and the Princess of Wales welcomed Emmanuel Macron and his wife Brigitte Macron to the UK on Tuesday for a state visit. Kate, 43, stepped out of her fashion comfort zone for the occasion, forgoing her favorite designers, Catherine Walker and Alexander McQueen, in favor of a pink Christian Dior ensemble. Kate has never worn Dior at a public event before, and making her debut in an outfit from the French fashion house as she greeted the country's president was a savvy diplomatic move. Plus, the princess's outfit was full of hidden details that made it stand out even more. The star of Kate's outfit was a 30 Montaigne Rose Des Vents Bar Jacket from Dior's 2024 collection. The brand's Bar Jackets have been iconic since Christian Dior first designed them in 1947. Maria Grazia Chiuri created the reimagined version Kate wore on Tuesday. Chiuri became Dior's first female creative director when she took on the role in 2016, and she announced in May 2025 that she would be stepping down. Kate paired the jacket with a midi-length tulle skirt in the same shade that flared out around her calves, offering a royal spin on the balletcore trend. Although blush versions of the products aren't available on Dior's website, the jacket retails for $5,000 in three colors, while the skirt comes in white and black for $4,600. Kate kept her monochromatic look going with a bespoke hat from Jess Collett Milliner, a UK-based hat designer, and a Mulberry clutch, both of which were the same blush color as her jacket and skirt. She also added $795 Gianvito Rossi pumps to the look. Kate completed her outfit with pearl jewelry that previously belonged to other royals. Queen Elizabeth frequently wore the three-strand pearl necklace Kate sported on Tuesday, and the Princess of Wales was first spotted wearing it in September 2022 in the wake of the queen's death, as Town & Country reported. Kate paired the necklace with Princess Diana's pearl drop earrings, which she also wore to a remembrance service in 2021. Diana's earrings were a particularly appropriate accessory for her Dior ensemble, as Diana became a muse for the fashion house in the 1990s. For instance, she attended the 1996 Met Gala, which celebrated Christian Dior, in a gown custom-designed by John Galliano, fresh off her finalized divorce from then-Prince Charles. The navy slip dress made quite a statement for the royal, as it was inspired by lingerie and featured lace detailing on the neckline. Likewise, Diana was given a Dior bag in 1995 by Bernadette Chirac, the first lady of France at the time. She went on to tote several versions of the bag to royal engagements before her death. Dior renamed the bag "Lady Dior" in her honor. Kate continued Diana's legacy with her ensemble on Tuesday, stepping into her tenure as Princess of Wales even more firmly. Barbie Creates One-off Doll for Type 1 Diabetes Advocate Lila Moss
FULL REPRESENTATION: Mattel's anchor toy range Barbie has created a one-of-a-kind doll honoring Type 1 diabetes advocate Lila Moss, ahead of the worldwide release of its first dolls living with the same medical condition later this summer. Appearing in the U.K. launch campaign, the daughter of Kate Moss holds a Barbie created in her likeness featuring a circular white Continuous Glucose Monitor on her arm, a square white Insulin Pump pod attached to the top of her leg, and a device in her handbag to monitor insulin levels. More from WWD How Celebrity Beauty Brands Are Doing in 2025 Kate Moss' Beauty Brand Cosmoss Enters Liquidation Proceedings After Three Years Azazie Unveils Second Barbie Collection With 20 Bridesmaid Dresses 'I am proud to use my platform to educate around Type 1 diabetes and show that being different is cool,' said Moss, whose doll donned a sleek black ensemble inspired by the model's personal style. 'Receiving messages from people who see my patches and feel represented means everything to me. To be able to now see Barbie dolls with T1D, and to receive a Barbie doll that visibly looks like me, even wearing her patches, is both surreal and special,' she added. Upon the campaign release, Mattel U.K. also unveiled a partnership with Breakthrough T1D, a global Type 1 diabetes research and advocacy organization, donating 20,000 pounds to continue to fund T1D research, education and support. The retail version of the Type 1 diabetes Barbie doll will go on sale on Aug. 23. It wears a polka-dot top and matching skirt, and comes with an insulin pump on the arm, a continuous glucose monitor on the waist, and a device in her purse that tracks blood sugar levels. The Type 1 diabetes Barbie doll is part of the 2025 Barbie Fashionistas range, which encompasses more than 175 looks across various skin tones, eye colors, hair colors and textures, body types, and disabilities, such as a blind Barbie doll, a Black Barbie doll with Down Syndrome, a Barbie doll with hearing aids, a Barbie doll with prosthetic limbs, a Barbie doll with vitiligo and Barbie dolls in wheelchairs. Krista Berger, senior vice president of Barbie and global head of dolls, said the introduction of a Barbie doll with Type 1 diabetes marks an important step in the brand's commitment to inclusivity and representation. 'Barbie helps shape children's early perceptions of the world, and by reflecting medical conditions like T1D, we ensure more kids can see themselves in the stories they imagine and the dolls they love,' added Berger. Why Hailee Steinfeld's Round Diamond Engagement Ring and Wedding Band Go Against Current Trends
Every item on this page was chosen by an ELLE editor. We may earn commission on some of the items you choose to buy. Hailee Steinfeld stole the spotlight at Paris Couture Week—and not just because of her outfit. The newlywed actress wore her wedding band—a glitzy eternity ring—to Tamara Ralph's show, days after she was photographed wearing both it and the round diamond engagement ring her husband, Josh Allen, gave her. Steinfeld's stack has serious sparkle. 'Round diamonds have always been in style, but what I find more interesting about Hailee's stack is its scale,' Steph Mazuera, who founded her own namesake brand that creates made-to-order engagement rings, tells ELLE. 'Her wedding band is substantial enough to make a statement on its own, something I'm seeing more and more of, especially with clients who opt for larger center stones in their engagement rings. Many choose to wear just their wedding band on certain days, so designing a band that shines independently has become a more popular consideration. Hailee's rings feel both classic and current, designed with both versatility and longevity in mind.' Multiple jewelers spoke to ELLE about Steinfeld's rings. Here, everything you need to know about her wedding jewelry. Steinfeld opted for a timeless diamond shape. 'It sounds a little ironic, but choosing such a classic diamond shape makes Hailee's ring stand out when elongated shapes like oval and emerald are trending,' Lauren Boc, founder and CEO of Hera Fine Jewelry, tells ELLE. Compared to other celebrities who opt for large center stones, 'the diamond is a balanced size—it has a lot of presence on her hand and feels special, but it isn't too big,' Boc adds. 'Personally, I love that she didn't choose an enormous diamond. I think there's something very elegant about choosing something relatively understated, and it's going to be much more comfortable and practical.' Mazuera was similarly impressed with the diamond's cut. 'Hailee's round brilliant cut is a timeless and classic choice,' she says. 'Round brilliants are known for their sparkle and symmetry, with 58 precisely cut facets designed to maximize light return. Her ring is simple, elegant, and allows the quality of the stone to take center stage.' Size-wise, Boc estimates the stone is two and a half to three carats, while Mazuera thinks it is around four carats. Steinfeld's ring also features a glittery diamond pavé band—with some extra-smart touches. 'The diamond pavé band is a really nice width—it isn't too dainty and feels proportionate to the center stone,' Boc says. 'That will help support the center diamond and keep the diamonds in the band secure as well. This looks like a cathedral setting to me, which is the most durable way to elevate the diamond off the finger, so it can stack flush with a wedding band.' Mazuera agrees: 'Hailee's ring features a substantial pavé band, and I love the way it arches up to meet her center stone. This style is known as a cathedral setting. It adds both structural support and an elegant, architectural lift to the diamond. The way the shoulders curve upward creates a beautiful line, guiding the eye directly to the center stone. It's a refined way to add dimension and durability while keeping the focus on the diamond itself.' Mazuera believes Steinfeld's ring 'would likely be valued around $75,000 to $125,000 if the diamond is mined, or approximately $10,000 to $20,000 if the diamond is lab-grown,' she says. 'The value can vary widely depending on the diamond's color, clarity, and origin, but it's undoubtedly a significant piece.' Boc, meanwhile, estimates its value is roughly $50,000 to $75,000. Steinfeld added a lot more sparkle to her stack with her eternity band—enough that the ring is a statement piece fit to wear on its own (which the actress did at Paris Couture Week). 'Hailee's wedding band looks like an oval diamond eternity band,' Boc says. 'The stones are pretty large, which gives it a very luxurious look. The cathedral setting of her engagement ring allows this relatively tall band to stack flush, because the round diamond is elevated off her hand, providing clearance for the wedding band to slide underneath.' Mazuera believes the stones are 'radiant-cut diamonds in a shared-prong or u-prong setting. This style allows maximum light exposure, giving each stone a bold, brilliant presence.' She also called out the cathedral setting on Steinfeld's engagement ring, which 'lifts the center stone just enough to let the band sit flush underneath creating a striking stack.' Boc points out that it can be risky to wear both pieces—an engagement ring with a diamond pavé band and an eternity ring with more diamonds—together too often. Steinfeld wore just her wedding band in Paris, for example. 'Over the years, that diamond wedding band and diamond engagement ring are going to wear down if she stacks them together daily,' Boc notes. 'Because diamonds are much harder than metal, with the friction of normal wear, the diamonds on each band will start eating into the prongs of the other band. When our clients choose designs like this, we recommend that they solder the rings together so there's no friction, or at least keep an eye on the setting.' Steinfeld opted for an engagement ring and wedding band style that will stand the test of time. 'A round diamond engagement ring with a pavé wedding band isn't really trendy—it's very classic,' Boc says. 'I hope Hailee's choice inspires people to get the ring they love and not worry about what's popular right now. I always tell our clients at Hera that what matters is that you love your ring, whether that means something trendy, classic, or totally unique.'
