Former Coronation Street star Georgia May Foote thanked fans for their kindness as she stated her 'heart is broken' in the latest update after her business burned down
Coronation Street star Georgia May Foote has revealed a devastating update on her beauty business after it tragically burned down. The former actress told her fans that the building will be demolished after she launched a fundraiser for herself and the other businesses affected.
Georgia, who played Katy Armstrong on the Corrie cobbles before leaving in 2015, took to her social media following the incident, and in her latest update, revealed the building will be torn down.
The 34-year-old thanked fans for their kindness as she stated her 'heart is broken'. She said in an emotional Instagram video: 'Guys! Thank you so much! Unfortunately, the building is now about to be demolished, my heart is broken. I want to first of all say how sorry I am to anyone who has lost even a single item in that fire.'
She continued: "I can't imagine how those who have things that can't be replaced feel. I'm so sorry. I posted my last reel as an appeal to help us all get back to work as soon as possible.
"Without us working, we can't buy stock, and without stock, we can't work. It's the hardest situation for so many of us to be in. With our whole place of work and tools gone and families to feed and bills to pay."
The soap star said she aimed to raise ten thousand pounds and, with the help of her followers, has surpassed this number. She urged people to keep donating as she pleaded, 'every penny' will be dished out to the businesses to help 'get back to where we were'.
Georgia continued on the video: 'I aimed to raise 10k not thinking for a second we would get this support! But here we are passing 10k! There are 12 of us affected by this who work in the beauty industry, and every penny will be evenly distributed to help us get back where we were."
She added: "Thank you for everything that has been donated too! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE keep donating. We have all lost thousands each, and this will help us so much. Links in bio! If you have another business that has been affected from this fire and you want me to help you with your fundraisers, please get in touch."
Georgia has experienced a varied career thus far, first starring in Grange Hill for three years before joining Coronation Street.
Following her soap exit in 2015, she put on her dancing shoes and joined Strictly Come Dancing, where she finished runner-up with her professional dance partner Giovanni Pernice.
Georgia revealed in 2023 that she was working in a salon alongside her acting job and said that while acting was her main ambition in life, her role in the beauty industry has given her some 'security'.
She said at the time: "As you may know, acting is my main career and always will be. But nails gives me that little bit of head space and security most actors need!'

'Kisses yes, Bezos No,' protesters say, as Bezos wedding bonanza divides Venice
VENICE, Italy — Hundreds of protesters marched through Venice's central streets on Saturday to say 'No' to billionaire Jeff Bezos, his bride and their much-anticipated wedding extravaganza, which reached its third and final day amid celebrity-crowded parties and the outcries of tired residents. On Friday, the world's fourth-richest man and his bride Lauren Sanchez Bezos tied the knot during a private ceremony with around 200 celebrity guests on the secluded island of San Giorgio. The wedding, however, divided Venice, with some activists protesting it as an exploitation of the city by the billionaire Bezos, while ordinary residents suffer from overtourism, high housing costs and the constant threat of climate-induced flooding. As the two newlyweds prepared for the final party on Saturday evening, hundreds of Venetians and protesters from across Italy filled Venice's tiny streets with colorful banners reading 'Kisses Yes, Bezos No' and 'No Bezos, no War.'
