In a significant step towards deepening economic and strategic collaboration, the State of Qatar and the Republic of Kazakhstan convened the seventh session of the Qatari-Kazakh Joint Higher Committee in Astana.
The high-level meeting was co-chaired by Minister of State for Foreign Trade Affairs of the State of Qatar HE Dr Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Sayed and Deputy Minister of National Economy of Kazakhstan Arman Kassinov. Senior officials from both nations participated in the session, reflecting the strong commitment from both sides to strengthen bilateral ties.
In his opening address, Al Sayed praised the enduring and dynamic relations between Qatar and Kazakhstan. He underscored the importance of the joint higher committee as a key institutional mechanism for driving strategic cooperation and enhancing partnerships across diverse sectors.
'The Joint Committee remains a vital platform to explore new opportunities and implement initiatives that serve the mutual interests of our two nations,' he stated.
The session featured in-depth discussions on expanding cooperation in a range of priority areas. These included trade and investment, finance, agriculture, transport and logistics, higher education and scientific research, information technology and artificial intelligence, healthcare, labour, tourism, culture, regional cooperation, and pressing environmental issues such as climate change.
Both parties agreed to intensify their collaboration through practical measures aimed at boosting bilateral trade and creating a more conducive environment for the flow of goods, services, and investments. A shared commitment was expressed to leverage existing economic complementarities and establish frameworks for sustained partnership and innovation.
On the sidelines of the event, Al Sayed held a series of strategic bilateral meetings with key Kazakh officials. He met with Serik Jumangarin, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Economy; Murat Karimsakov, Chairman of the Atameken National Chamber of Entrepreneurs; and Nurlan Zhakupov, Chief Executive Officer of Samruk-Kazyna, Kazakhstan's sovereign wealth fund.
The discussions focused on unlocking investment opportunities and highlighting the incentives offered by the State of Qatar to foreign investors. Both sides examined potential areas for enhancing public-private partnerships and fostering long-term cooperation in sectors crucial to national development and economic diversification.
The seventh session of the Qatari-Kazakh Joint Higher Committee marks another milestone in the evolving partnership between the two nations. It reaffirmed a shared vision to achieve sustainable economic growth, promote regional stability, and enhance cultural and economic exchange between Qatar and Kazakhstan.

Minister of State for Foreign Affairs HE Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi headed the Qatari side, while the Bulgarian side was headed by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs HE Maria Angelieva.
