Why Sarah Jessica Parker Doesn't Watch ‘And Just Like That...'

Cosmopolitan14-07-2025
Sarah Jessica Parker has been a staple on our TV screens for over 25 years, thanks to her beloved Sex and the City character, Carrie Bradshaw. But what you might not know is that SJP hasn't even watched her show or its spin-off.
During a recent interview on Watch What Happens Live, host Andy Cohen couldn't help but wonder if the actor tunes in to Carrie's recent mishaps on And Just Like That... She revealed that she's not a fan of watching herself on screen, but she still cares deeply about the experience that's made her a household name in pop culture.
'I don't not watch it because I'm being cavalier about my relationship,' she explained during the July 13 episode of the Bravo talk show. 'I don't watch it because I don't love watching my work. Myself. It doesn't touch on, like, how I feel about the experience or how much I care. In fact, it's because I care that I can't watch it.'
Her comments come after a May interview with E! News, where she was asked whether she'd watched either series in full. 'Oh my God, no,' she replied. 'I don't watch it, never seen it. Never seen Sex and the City, most of them.'
And apparently, neither has her family, including her husband Matthew Broderick, 22-year-old son James Wilkie, and 13-year-old twins Tabitha and Marion. As SJP explained, 'I think it's very odd for them to yet let it into their viewing queue. Even for James Wilkie, he started by coming to the premiere of And Just Like That... [and] then he started watching the show but school work got in the way.'
She went on to add, 'But it's all available for them some day if they want it, they'll get no pressure from me.'
At the end of the day, SJP wants to be known as the mother of her children. 'Mostly I want them to recall me as their parent,' she concluded. 'But maybe one day they'll find a way to watch it and be comfortable with what they see. I mean, there's nothing I do that I think is terribly shocking, but it's a very different way of seeing a parent.'

'E! News' to end this year after 3 decades

The broadcast show 'E! News' will end this year, concluding a run that began in 1991 but which was interrupted during the Covid-19 pandemic, a source close to the situation said. The person confirmed the plans to cancel the broadcast show to NBC News, after the news was previously reported Thursday by Variety and other publications. Its final tape date will be September 25. Employees were notified Thursday morning. The entertainment network will remain online. "Access Hollywood" and "Access Daily" will continue its broadcasts. The broadcast show launched in 1991 but it was canceled in 2020 during the pandemic, which caused serious disruptions not only to the economy but also to studio shows. The broadcast show was brought back in 2022. E! is owned by NBCUniversal, the parent company of NBC News, but it will move along with other brands, including MSNBC and CNBC, to Comcast spin-off Versant, Comcast has said. NBCUniversal did not immediately respond to a request for comment Thursday. Comcast on Thursday announced its first board of directors for the planned spin-off. The spin-off will have under it USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel and others, Comcast said.

'E! News' is shutting down after more than three decades

"E! News," the nightly pop culture program that helped define cable network E! Entertainment Television, is going away. The Comcast-owned network informed "E! News" staff Thursday the program will tape its final episode on Sept. 25. The channel's news operation will continue to provide coverage online where it has a robust presence. The staff was told the E! news audience prefers breaking entertainment coverage throughout the day on social media platforms instead of showing up at 11 p.m. Eastern for a live nightly show on traditional TV. About 20 jobs will be eliminated with the cancellation. The network will continue to provide live coverage of red carpet events such as the Oscars and Golden Globes. E! also carries the People's Choice Awards. Read more: The network evening news is in flux: Why an American TV institution is under pressure The "E! News" move was revealed ahead of the channel's move to Versant, the spinoff company that will include other current Comcast cable channels such as MSNBC, CNBC and Golf Channel. Comcast is putting all of its cable networks — with the exception of Bravo — into Versant to prevent the mature businesses from dragging down the company's stock price. "E! News" was launched in 1991 and was long a highly profitable business for the network as there were few TV outlets for live coverage of entertainment and pop culture. Ryan Seacrest was co-host of the program from 2006 to 2015. The program was canceled in 2020 but returned in 2022. The show is currently co-hosted by Keltie Knight and Justin Sylvester. Some of the on-air talent from the program will have the chance to move to Versant. Sign up for our Wide Shot newsletter to get the latest entertainment business news, analysis and insights. Kelly Osbourne Mourns Death of Dad Ozzy Osbourne

Originally appeared on E! Online is grieving the loss of her father . Following the Black Sabbath frontman's death on July 22 at age 76, his daughter shared a touching tribute on her Instagram Story July 24 with lyrics to his 1972 song "Changes." "I feel unhappy,' the 40-year-old wrote. 'I am so sad. I lost the best friend I ever had." Just days before Ozzy's passing, Kelly—who costarred on the MTV reality series The Osbournes with her dad as well as mom Sharon Osbourne, 72, and brother Jack Osbourne, 39, from 2002 to 2005—addressed online speculation that the heavy metal icon's health was deteriorating. 'There's this video going around on social media and it's supposed to be my dad, but it's AI,' she said in a clip posted on her Instagram Stories July 11. 'It has a voice like my dad's David Attenborough or something, and it starts out saying, 'I don't need a doctor to tell me that I'm going to die. I know I'm going to die.'' Kelly went on to condemn the creators of the viral video before plainly stating that her father was 'not dying.' For a look back at Ozzy's life, keep scrolling. More from E! What is wrong with you?' The 'Changes' singer also addressed reports that Ozzy and Sharon—who wed in 1982 and are also parents to Aimee Osbourne, 41—had agreed to a suicide pact, a rumor which stemmed from comments Sharon made to The Mirror in 2017. 'Stop making articles or posts about how you think my parents are having a suicide pact,' she said. 'That was bulls--t my mom said to get attention one time. And my dad's not dying. Stop.' During Ozzy's final Black Sabbath concert earlier this month, he and Kelly shared a special family moment as her partner Sid Wilson—with whom she shares 2-year-old son Sidney—got down on one knee and proposed backstage. But of course, the Grammy winner had to inject some of his signature humor into the heartfelt moment. 'F--k off,' he joked as Sid began to pop the question, 'you're not marrying my daughter.' In his final years, Ozzy faced a number of health complications including a battle with Parkinson's disease, which he shared publicly in 2020. Two years later, he underwent what Sharon described as a "major operation" that was "really going to determine the rest of his life." Following his death, his family said that they were filled with "more sadness than mere words can convey." "He was with his family and surrounded by love," they said in a statement to E! News. "We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time."
