
Active weather Friday evening, severe thunderstorm watch in effect
CTV London Meteorologist Julie Atchison says Friday evening will see some active weather around the London, Ont. region.
Friday evening will see some active weather around the London, Ont. region, and a severe thunderstorm watch is in effect.
'We have had some pop-up showers and thunderstorms in parts of the area through the late afternoon,' said CTV London Meteorologist Julie Atchison. As we head into the evening, active weather is expected … there is the potential for wind gusts 90 to 100 kilometers per hour.'
Atchison says the wave of storms may be intense, with very heavy rainfall moving across southern Ontario as the evening goes on.
'We do have that risk window heading into your Saturday, slight risk for an early morning shower, but forecast models start to strip most of that moisture away,' said Atchison. 'A mix of sun and cloud will carry us right through the afternoon … ushering in some drier conditions as we head into your Sunday.'

Friday night: Partly cloudy with 60 per cent chance of showers and risk of thunderstorms. Wind northwest 20 km/h becoming southwest 20 in the evening. Low 21.
Saturday: Cloudy with 30 per cent chance of showers. High 25.
Sunday: Sunny. High 28.
Monday: Cloudy with 60 per cent chance of showers. High 30.
Tuesday (Canada day): A mix of sun and cloud with 40 per cent chance of showers. High 27.
Wednesday: Sunny. High 28.

Severe Thunderstorm Warning issued for southern Manitoba
A Severe Thunderstorm Warning is in effect for parts of Manitoba. Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) said Portage la Prairie and St. Ambroise are under the warning. ECCC said an incoming severe thunderstorm is capable of producing very strong wind gusts of up to 90 km/hour, heavy rain, and up to nickel-sized hail. As of 9:45 p.m. Friday, the system was near Oakland, moving east at 30 km/hour. Delta Beach may also be impacted by this system.
