Genelia Deshmukh on Sitaare Zameen Par's success: I thought people would forget me, but they have surprised me

Genelia Deshmukh's latest film Sitaare Zameen Par has won not just at the box office, but also people's hearts with its story. For her, it was even special because she starred in a full fledged role in a Hindi theatrical film after 13 years. She was last seen in Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya, post which she did direct to OTT films like It's My Life and Mister Mummy. Genelia Deshmukh(Manoj Verma/ HT) 'I didn't do much work for the last 10 years, maybe for friends, a song here and there. I did two-three films for OTT. I thought people would forget me and I didn't think I mattered. But it's refreshing to hear people say all this, that they want to see more. It's an Aamir Khan film, so of course it would have had a lot more eyeballs. I didn't think that somewhere in that takeaway, I also exist. It's been the best compliment, that people want to see more of me. As an actor and human being, if someone wants to see you a lot more, it's a very special place that not everyone gets, ' quips Genelia, as she meets up with us in the Capital. It was Aamir Khan, her co star in the film, who wanted to cast her, 'He met Riteish somewhere, and asked 'Is Genelia working nowadays?' to which Riteish said yes she is. Then Aamir asked me to meet RS Prasanna, the director. I auditioned for the role and got it. I know most actors will feel that after 20 years 'why audition?' But I think it's a great way of getting a film so I am very excited that I did it. ' Sitaare Zameen Par revolves around a group of specially abled adults, who are mentored for a basketball tournament by an arrogant coach, played by Aamir. Genelia plays the role of his headstrong, supportive wife. As for the film's success, Genelia , whose next film opposite Emraan Hashmi has just been announced, adds, 'The way the collections just went from the release day till Sunday, that's got a lot to do with the word of the mouth. I think if you make a good film, it eventually finds its audience. I am happy that the film did what it did, more so for the sitaares. I would have really wanted it to be a blockbuster for them, and I am glad it picked up. It's the first time I have been part of a film that talks about inclusion.'

‘Loved getting clicked, but left it all because…': Radhika Yadav's friend recalls tennis player's ‘controlled' life

Gurugram: Himaanshika Singh Rajput, who claimed to be the best friend of the deceased tennis player Radhika Yadav, took to Instagram alleging that her parents were extremely controlling and were sensitive to societal pressure. Himaanshika, bestfriend of Radhika Yadav says, Tennis player left hobbies due to family pressure. (Instagram/@Himaanshika) Himaanshika said she and Radhika were close for the last eight to ten years, alleged that she was suffering and felt suffocated at home as she needed to explain every activity to her parents. 'She loved getting clicked photos and recording videos but left all those hobbies due to parental pressure as they thought what society would think of them. They were extremely orthodox,' she alleged in the two and half minutes long video on her Instagram handle captioning it as 'Part-I' which has garnered more than two million views and about 3000 comments in less than 24 hours. Himaanshika also has uploaded another video which she has especially created remembering her deceased friend Radhika. She was very innocent and sweet and was playing tennis for the last 18 years,' she said. Himanshi, also a tennis player, said that she and Radhika started playing tennis together back in 2012. 'I remember that she even had to show my video calls to her parents that it was Himanshi who was calling,' she alleged. 'It because Radhika never talked to anyone as there was severe restriction at her home. Parents always accompanied her everywhere. The music video about which everyone is talking about was shot 1.5 years back and her father had dropped her to the shooting venue,' she said. Even Sonu Sisodiya, the ground coordinator where Radhika ran her academy, had also said that she was always accompanied either by her mother or by her father when she reached for training the players. 'He had stopped giving time to family and friends, wrapped his car accessory business in order to be able to travel with Radhika. Whenever we rang him, we got to know that he was accompanying Radhika in other cities for her matches,' he said, which was also corroborated by Pawan Yadav, Deepak's close friend and Sushant Lok-II RWA president. Himanshi said Radhika's academy was hardly a walking distance from her residence in Sector-57 but there was a certain time by which she had to return. Gurugram police have said that Radhika's father Deepak was taunted by villagers that he was living on her daughter's income due to which he wanted her to close the tennis academy. However, Radhika had refused to do so following which he shot her dead while she was cooking food in the kitchen on Thursday morning. As per the FIR, Deepak, in his confessional statement, told police that his 'pride' was hurt with the taunts and comments made by the villagers for living on her daughter's income and thus shot her.

'Babydoll Archi' mystery solved: Who is Pratim Bora? Man behind viral AI hoax arrested for targeting his ex-partner, Archita Phukan

As the mystery around Archita Phukan, a.k.a. 'Babydoll Archi,' an artificial intelligence (AI)-generated creation, grew, a man was arrested in Assam's Dibrugarh on Saturday evening, July 12, for creating a fake social media profile of influencer Archita Phukan and posting her morphed pictures, the police stated on Sunday, reports HT. The accused has been identified as Pratim Bora, who is a former partner of Phukan. According to the police, Bora allegedly uploaded the objectionable content to defame and harass the woman. Archita Phukan, a.k.a. 'Babydoll Archi,' gained massive attention with the 'Dame Un Grrr' reel on her Instagram page named under her. Following this, another picture was posted on the profile featuring 'Babydoll Archi' and American adult star Kendra Lust, which almost broke the internet. However, later, there were claims made by an Instagram page called 'Just Assam Things' that stated Phukan is not a real person; it is an AI creation. Since then, eyebrows have been raised on the Instagram handle. Who is Pratim Bora, Archi Phukan's ex-partner? Pratim Bora is a resident of Tinsukia who has been arrested for operating the fake profile of Archi Phukan for several weeks. The accused was arrested in his hometown following a complaint lodged by Phukan's brother, as per the police officials. The report further revealed that Phukan, who is famously known as 'Babydoll Archi,' said that her morphed images with US adult film star Kendra Lust were shared from the fake account. Moreover, she is just an Assam-based girl whose friends and acquaintances came across the morphed photos after the images had already gone viral on social media. Pratim Bora, arrested from Tinsukia, admits to sourcing images. Archi Phukan After the complaint was registered, police started their investigation, but by then Bora had gone into hiding. However, they located him anyhow by tracing his phone. "We tracked the accused using IP address data and technical evidence. He was arrested in a rented apartment in Tinsukia. His phone and laptop have been seized and sent for forensic examination,' a cybercrime officer noted. As per the officials, Bora admitted to sourcing the images from her old social media posts and using them to edit. They also stated that during the interrogation, the accused said that he created the fake account out of anger and emotional frustration following the end of his relationship with the woman. An FIR was registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
