'New chapter' for Slane Castle following death of Henry Mountcharles
Henry Mountcharles died in June, having turned Slane into one of Ireland's most iconic gig venues that hosted acts such as U2, Bruce Springsteen, David Bowie, and the Rolling Stones over the decades.
His son Alex has announced a new project entitled CAIM, which is a contemporary art programme.
The inaugural exhibition will take place at Slane Castle from September 12 to 30 and organisers say it will "bridge international art, Celtic tradition, and Ireland's natural landscape".
Speaking about the new move, Alex said: "For centuries, Slane Castle has been a place of gathering for music, celebration, and connection. With CAIM, we're opening a new chapter, one where art becomes a bridge between our storied past and a sustainable future.
"This isn't just an exhibition; it's an invitation to experience the Slane Castle estate as a sanctuary for creativity and contemplation, echoing the Celtic rituals that have shaped this land and our connection to it for aeons.'
The exhibition features work by a diverse roster of international and local artists, spanning sculpture, installation, painting, and multimedia.
It will be curated by Jenn Ellis, founder of Apsara Studio in London and Matilda Liu of Meeting Point Projects.
Artists have been selected from a rigorous open call encompassing a local and international jury, as well as by invitation and through collaboration with galleries.
Elsewhere, there are plans for at least one concert at the Meath venue in 2026.
The most recent festival on the grounds was in 2023, with the 80,000 attendees enjoying a night headlined by Harry Styles.
Furthermore, the castle was revealed as the setting of The Traitors Ireland in April, with filming concluding on the Irish version of the hit series that has entertained audiences around the globe and is set to air later this year.

President Higgins leads tributes to renowned filmmaker George Morrison after his death at 102
Among Mr Morrison's best-known work was Mise Éire, a 1959 documentary on the events in Ireland leading up to, during, and immediately after the 1916 Easter Rising, extensively using original footage such as newsreels from the time. It was the first full length feature documentary released in theatres to be produced in the Irish language. 'As President of Ireland, may I express my deepest condolences on learning of the death of George Morrison. 'George Morrison is and will remain an iconic and foundational figure in Irish filmography. A filmmaker of immense craft and skill, he will rightly be remembered in particular as a great innovator in the techniques of film, using new and pioneering camera work while realising how film and music could be brought together in a way that is distinctive,' President Michael D Higgins said. 'His seminal works, including Mise Éire and Saoirse as well as his many other films including his early partnership with the Gate Theatre, comprise an outstanding body of work that has made a deep and lasting impact on Irish culture and Irish cultural memory. 'Mise Éire was created following a painstaking process through which George tracked down long lost or forgotten newsreels from the independence period in archives across Europe. This work led to the preservation of 300,000 feet of early 20th century newsreel footage which may have been lost forever without his work. 'I had the honour of bestowing the honour of Saoi of Aosdána on George Morrisson in 2017 and have also had the pleasure of meeting with him on many other occasions over the years, including when we marked his 100th birthday in Áras an Uachtaráin in 2023. 'On behalf of Sabina and myself, may I extend my deepest condolences to his family, friends and all those who have been so inspired by his work over the decades,' President Higgins said. Mr Morrison, a Co Waterford native, is predeceased by his wife Janet Morrison in 2019, and his first wife Theodora Fitzgibbon in 1991.

Love Island fans convinced show couple have secretly SPLIT after spotting tell-tale sign
The Sun previously told the real reason the couple failed to return for the final vote all over? Love Island fans convinced show couple have secretly SPLIT after spotting tell-tale sign LOVE Island fans have been left convinced that one show couple have already split as the show comes to an end. Eagle-eyed viewers think it is all over for one recently rekindled pair who were dumped from the ITV2 show just days before the final. Advertisement 4 Love Island fans think Conor and Megan have already split Credit: Shutterstock Editorial 4 Conor failed to acknowledge Megan in his thank you post after the villa Credit: Instagram Megan and Conor managed to rekindle their connection after the Irish stunner re-entered the villa for a second time this series. In a telling move, Conor failed to acknowledge or thank his villa partner Megan in his post-villa social media message. Taking to Instagram after being booted and just moments before the final, Conor wrote: "The craziest 8 weeks of my life. Thank you so much for all the support. "Hope I did all you guys proud, especially my Irish people." Advertisement Conor went on to share a series of snaps with his fellow axed Islanders but failed to post a photo with Megan. He further congratulated winners Toni and Cach in another social media snub to Megan. Viewers watching along at home were also left trying to spot them together in the audience with many claiming they could not be seen - fuelling further speculation that the pair could have secretly split over the weekend. One fan wrote online: "I havent seen Conor and Megan together all night!!" Advertisement As another added: "Anyone spotted that Conor and Megan were sat apart?!" Elsewhere, when Megan was brought up to the sofa to be interviewed by Maya, she was not joined by Conor. Love Island champs Toni and Cach reveal how they'll spend £50k winnings as they beat Shakira and Harry Fellow couples Tommy and Lucy and Ben and Andrada were featured together in the segment. Megan and Conor were dumped from the villa just days before the final after failing to be voted as one of the most compatible couples in the villa. Advertisement Following their show axe, fans noticed how Megan and Conor did also tellingly not return for the show's final vote - which resulted in the axe of Dejon and Meg. On Sunday night, 18 former Islanders returned to the villa to vote out one couple from the new bottom two, which comprised of Angel & Ty and Meg & Dejon. Fans quickly noticed the couple's absence and questioned why they did not take part despite still being in Spain and appearing on After Sun. The Sun can now reveal the real reason why Megan and Conor were absent from casting a vote with the other Islanders. Advertisement "They were dumped as part of the public vote that also decided who was in the bottom two couples - so it wouldn't have been fair to let them vote," a source told the The Sun. "The vote was only for people who had been axed in previous dumpings, not the current one." 4 Megan was not joined by Conor in her first screen interview Credit: Shutterstock Editorial 4 The pair were axed just days before the final Credit: Shutterstock Editorial
