Orlando Pirates target nets for Bafana Bafana

Orlando Pirates target Sinoxolo Kwayiba was on target as Bafana Bafana defeated Mozambique in an international friendly match in Polokwane on Tuesday evening.
Kwayiba and Ashley Cupido scored two goals in the second half to hand Hugo Broos' men another convincing win. Bafana will now focus on the FIFA World Cup qualifiers, which resume in September.
After the 2-0 win against Mozambique, Kwaniba was named Man of the Match. During his Man of the Match interview, the Bafana Bafana forward was asked about his potential move to Orlando Pirates.
'I'm happy for the performance of today, but I want to do more. Let's hope it's gonna happen,' he told SABC Sport .
'I'm hoping to play for a big team and then after going to play overseas – that's my dream and it's gonna happen.
'A team of the big-three, I won't mention any names. I won't mention anyone but I want to play for the one of three.' Kwayiba said.
According to iDiski Times , the Chippa United striker scored six times last season, but it looks more likely that he will play in black and white. Orlando Pirates already have two Bafana strikers, Evidence Makgopa and Tshegofatso Mabasa.

Photo: BackpagePix Image: BackpagePix Orlando Pirates clinched a well-deserved 2-0 victory against Granada on Saturday at the Marbella Football Centre to end their pre-season tour of Spain on a high note. The result marked a significant morale boost for the Soweto giants, who had endured a string of challenging fixtures during their training stint abroad. After four games, Pirates secured their first tour win. Granada's head coach, José Rojo Martín – a former LaLiga professional – expressed admiration for Pirates' tactics. As part of his preparation for the match, he had reviewed footage of their goalless draw against Las Palmas last Thursday. Video Player is loading. 'He was quite shocked by the dynamic of the team, the intensity, and the quantity of the players,' he noted, adding: 'He has done the research and watched the match against Las Palmas.' The match against Granada began tentatively, with both sides feeling each other out during a stop-start opening quarter. Pirates created their first real chance in the 24th minute, though Mbekezeli Mbokazi's effort drifted wide. Mbokazi, surprisingly deployed at left-back, later found himself in several attacking roles but struggled to convert his opportunities. As the first half progressed, the Buccaneers began to find their rhythm. Boitumelo Radiopane came close to breaking the deadlock, but his header lacked the power to beat Granada goalkeeper Luca Zidane. Still, Pirates showcased their attacking intent, frequently surging forward with purpose. After a nervy first half, Pirates returned with renewed determination. Goalkeeper Sipho Chaine kept them in the contest with a string of crucial saves as Granada pressed forward. Persistence eventually paid off in the 82nd minute when Patrick Maswanganyi, well positioned inside the box, calmly slotted the ball into the net to hand Pirates the lead. The goal injected fresh energy into the side, and Relebohile Mofokeng soon doubled the advantage. After slipping past the final defender, he calmly finished into an open net to secure a deserved win. The result concluded Pirates' Spanish training camp on a high, leaving them unbeaten in their final three pre-season matches. As they return to South Africa to prepare for the 2025/26 season — starting with their MTN8 title defence against Polokwane City — their performances in Spain reflect a promising synergy that supporters hope will carry into the domestic campaign.

Orlando Pirates finish Spanish pre-season tour on a high

Orlando Pirates wrapped up their Spanish pre-season tour on a high note, scoring twice in the dying minutes to secure a 2-0 win over Granada CF in a friendly encounter on Saturday evening. The victory at the Marbella Football Centre marked the Soweto giants' first win of their European training camp, following three previous matches without a victory. It also served as a morale booster ahead of the upcoming Betway Premiership 2025/26 season. Despite having faced the Andalusian outfit ahead of last season – a 1-1 draw – this encounter started tentatively, with both teams struggling to create early chances. Orlando Pirates' first real opportunity fell to left-back Mbekezeli Mbokazi in the 24th minute, but the youngster failed to convert after sustained pressure. Striker Boitumelo Radiopane followed up with a close-range header minutes later, though his effort lacked the power to trouble Granada 'keeper Luca Zidane. Mbokazi had another golden opportunity before the break, but miscued his shot after being played through by Karim Kimvuidi. Granada threatened just before half-time, but Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Sipho Chaine produced a vital save to keep the scores level. Chaine was called into action again early in the second half before being replaced by Siyabonga Dladla in the 61st minute. The Buccaneers, led by substitutes Relebohile Mofokeng, Patrick Maswanganyi, and Yanela Mbuthuma, dominated the second half. Mofokeng missed a promising chance in the 56th minute, while Granada nearly stole the lead in the 78th minute, only to be denied by the crossbar. Orland Pirates finally broke the deadlock in the 82nd minute through Maswanganyi, who calmly slotted home from inside the box after a well-worked move. The South Africans doubled their lead at the 90-minute mark when Mofokeng rounded the 'keeper and buried the ball into an empty net to seal the win. The result kept Orlando Pirates unbeaten in their last three pre-season fixtures, and ends their European stint on a positive note. They will now return to South Africa to complete preparations ahead of their MTN8 title defence, which kicks off with a home fixture against Polokwane City.
