After Her 'Overwhelming' Split From Travis Kelce, Kayla Nicole Explained Why It Might Be A Long Time Before We See Her With A New Partner

Buzz Feed04-04-2025
After her public relationship with Travis Kelce, Kayla Nicole is doing dating differently.
For a quick recap, before Travis was with Taylor Swift, he was in a five-year on-and-off relationship with Kayla, who's a media personality and sports journalist. The pair started dating in 2017 and broke up numerous times before calling it quits for good in 2022.
Last year, while appearing on the Fox reality show Special Forces: World's Toughest Test, Kayla broke down over her and Travis's painful ' public breakup,' calling it 'overwhelming.' But now, she's reflected on what she learned from the split and how it's changed her attitude towards dating going forward.
'I am like John Cena now with men,' Kayla said in response to a fan question during the April 3 episode of her Pre-Game podcast. 'You don't see me. You don't see me with a man. And you won't ever see me with a man ever again until I'm married with kids.' Kayla said that some might deem this to be 'sneaky.' However, having already experienced one public relationship, she said it's the best thing for everyone involved.
'In reality, I'm protecting me, and I'm protecting you,' she explained. 'I don't think that I ever want to publicly date another man until I am absolutely sure that they are my long-term person. I want to protect the things that mean the most to me, and sometimes when you're a little too open and you're a little too transparent, you open yourself up to a world of opinion, a world of entitlement.'
Getting honest about the public scrutiny she's faced, Kayla added: 'People want answers. People think that you owe them an explanation about every single thing in your relationship, every up and down and happy or sad moment. I want to be able to love without the pressure.'
Kayla said she is dating at the moment, and in order to keep things lowkey, she's mastered the art of private dates. 'I am out here dating and hiding,' she joked. 'I'm the queen of a private room in a back room in a corner closet. And I have no shame in it.'

During her stint on Special Forces last year, Kayla talked about the ' constant and exhausting ' scrutiny she's faced since Travis started dating the world's most famous pop star in 2023. 'It doesn't matter; I could post about the sky being blue, and people will have a response about an ex and their new situation,' she said. 'It's inadvertently affected me to the point where it makes me question my overall value as a person.'

Praising Taylor, she said: 'I really like, like, her. I think she's very talented.'

Today's Wordle #1505 Hints And Answer For Saturday, August 2nd

Looking for Friday's Wordle hints, clues and answer? You can find them here: How To Solve Today's Wordle Okay, August day #2 is here. The first Saturday of this fine month, a month named for the first Emperor of Rome: Augustus Caesar, or Octavian. And Saturday, of course, is the one day of the week (in English) named after a Roman god. Feeling godlike and imperial, let's solve today's Wordle! Wordle is a daily word puzzle game where your goal is to guess a hidden five-letter word in six tries or fewer. After each guess, the game gives feedback to help you get closer to the answer: Use these clues to narrow down your guesses. Okay, spoilers below! The answer is coming! . . . Every day I check Wordle Bot to help analyze my guessing game. You can check your Wordles with Wordle Bot right here. CRONE was a very good opening guess, leaving me with just 79 words. Unfortunately, BAITS (all new letters) only cut that down to 7. Still too many to juggle, especially since a lot of them ended in AUNT. I tried GAUNT and confirmed four of the five letters, but still had five words to choose from. I was feeling cheeky, and instead of trying to narrow that down, I foolishly guessed DAUNT. Lucky for me, it was the Wordle! The Bot and I each get 0 points for guessing in four and 0 for tying, leaving our August totals at: Erik: -4 points Wordle Bot: 2 points The word "daunt" comes from the Old French danter (modern dompter), meaning "to tame, subdue, or vanquish," which in turn comes from Latin domitare, a frequentative of domare, meaning "to tame" or "to subdue." It entered English in the 13th century with the sense of "to overcome with fear or discourage." The meaning shifted from literal taming to figurative intimidation over time. Jeannie Seely, trailblazing country singer behind hits like ‘Don't Touch Me,' dies at 85

Jeannie Seely, the soulful country music singer behind such standards like 'Don't Touch Me,' has died. She was 85. Her publicist, Don Murry Grubbs, said she died Friday after succumbing to complications from an intestinal infection. Known as 'Miss Country Soul' for her unique vocal style, Seely was a trailblazer for women in country music, celebrated for her spirited nonconformity and for a string of undeniable hits in the '60s and '70s. Her second husband, Gene Ward, died in December. In May, Seely revealed that she was in recovery after undergoing multiple back surgeries, two emergency procedures and spending 11 days in the ICU. She also suffered a bout of pneumonia. 'Rehab is pretty tough, but each day is looking brighter and last night, I saw a light at the end of the tunnel. And it was neon, so I knew it was mine!' she said in a statement at the time. 'The unsinkable Seely is working her way back.' Seely was born in July 1940, in Titusville, Pennsylvania, about two hours north of Pittsburgh and raised in nearby Townville. Her love of country music was instant; her mother sang, and her father played the banjo. When she was a child, she sang on local radio programs and performed on local television. 3 Popular country music singer Jeannie Seely has died at the age of 85, well known for her greatest hit 'Don't Touch Me.' Getty Images In her early 20s, she moved to Los Angeles to kick-start a career, taking a job Liberty and Imperial Records in Hollywood. She kept writing and recording. Nashville was next: She sang on Porter Wagoner's show; she got a deal with Monument Records. Her greatest hit would arrive soon afterward: 'Don't Touch Me,' the crossover ballad written by Hank Cochran. The song earned Seely her first and only Grammy Award, for best country & western vocal performance in the female category. 3 The song won her a Grammy award for best country & western vocal performance in the female category. Evan Agostini/Invision/AP Cochran and Seely were married in 1969 and divorced in 1979. Seely broke boundaries in her career — at a time when country music expected a kind of subservience from its women performers, Seely was a bit of a rebel, known for wearing a miniskirt on the Grand Ole Opry stage when it was still taboo. And she had a number of country hits in the '60s and '70s, including three Top 10 hits on what is now known as Billboard's hot country songs chart: 'Don't Touch Me,' 1967's 'I'll Love You More (Than You Need)' and 1973's 'Can I Sleep In Your Arms?', adapted from the folk song 'Can I Sleep In Your Barn Tonight Mister?' In the years since, Seely continued to release albums, perform, and host, regularly appearing on country music programming. Her songs are considered classics, and have been recorded by everyone from Merle Haggard, Ray Price and Connie Smith to Ernest Tubb, Grandpa Jones, and Little Jimmy Dickens. 3 Seely was most recently hosting her own show on Willie Nelson's Willie's Roadhouse SiriusXM channel, 'Sunday's with Seely.' Since 2018, she's hosted the weekly 'Sunday's with Seely' on Willie Nelson's Willie's Roadhouse SiriusXM channel. That same year, she was inducted into the Music City Walk of Fame. She appeared nearly 5,400 times at the Grand Ole Opry, which she has been a member of since 1967. Grubbs said Saturday's Grand Ole Opry show would be dedicated to Seely. She released her latest song in July 2024, a cover of Dottie West's 'Suffertime,' recorded at the world-renowned RCA Studio B. She performed it at the Opry the year before.
