'One thing I always admire about Maharashtra is that there are extremely cordial relations between the Treasury Benches and the Opposition at the personal level. This is something many States can learn from Maharashtra,' Radhakrishnan said at the Platinum Jubilee celebrations and National Conference of Estimates Committees of Parliament and State/UT Legislative Bodies.

Union Minister Chirag Paswan says he wants to contest upcoming assembly elections for the ‘sake of Bihar'

PATNA: Union Minister and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) chief Chirag Paswan on Sunday said that he wants to contest forthcoming assembly elections for the 'sake of Bihar' and not for himself. Addressing the 'Bahujan Bhim Sankalp Samagam' rally at Rajgir in Nalanda district, Chirag slammed the Opposition INDIA bloc, accusing them of misleading voters for their political gains. 'Be careful about the false narrative of the INDIA bloc in the coming election,' he added. Alleging that the Opposition was creating a false narrative to mislead people against the ruling NDA, LJP(RV) supremo said that before the 2024 Lok Sabha election, they (Opposition) contended that the Constitution would be under threat if Narendra Modi was elected as PM for the third consecutive term. 'The truth is before you. The Opposition is trying to play the same game this time again in assembly elections in Bihar. But they will not succeed in their gameplan as people have already understood their ulterior motive,' he told the gathering amid applause. Recalling the Emergency during the Congress regime, Chirag said that numerous people, mostly Dalits, Minorities and OBCs, had been forcibly sterilised. Others were put behind bars and harassed on the pretext of violating the government's directive, he asserted. He alleged that Congress used the people from the Minority community as a political tool and did nothing for their welfare. 'They are trying to project themselves as champions of minorities by organising a rally against the Waqf Act in Patna. But they are silent on the Turkman Gate massacre,' he asked.

Congress targets Centre over Indian defence attache's remarks on ‘loss of fighter jets' during Operation Sindoor

Citing an Indian defence attache's remarks in Indonesia that the Indian Air Force lost fighter jets to Pakistan during Operation Sindoor because of 'political constraints', the Congress on Sunday (June 29, 2025) charged the government of 'misleading' the country. The party also asked why Prime Minister Narendra Modi was 'refusing' to preside over an all-party meeting to take the Opposition into confidence, and why the demand for a special session of Parliament was rejected. Congress general secretary (Communications) Jairam Ramesh, writing on X, shared a media report that quoted Captain (Indian Navy) Shiv Kumar, speaking at a seminar in Indonesia recently, saying the Indian Air Force lost fighter jets to Pakistan on the night of May 7, 2025 during its targeting of terror-linked sites in Pakistan. 'First, the Chief of Defence Staff makes important revelations in Singapore. Then, a senior defence official follows up from Indonesia. But why is the PM refusing to preside over an all-party meeting and take the Opposition into confidence? Why has the demand for a special session of Parliament been rejected?' Mr. Ramesh asked. His party colleague and publicity head, Pawan Khera, citing the same media report, said the Modi government had 'misled the nation from the start — failing to disclose the aircraft losses during Operation Sindoor'. 'There were oblique references to losses in air combat on 6/7 May, during a briefing by the DG Air Ops (Air Marshal Awadhesh Kumar Bharti) when he said - 'we are in a combat situation and losses are a part of combat'. Then, it was left to Chief of Defence Staff, General Anil Chauhan, to make the first official admission of our attrition in the air while speaking to Bloomberg TV on the sidelines of the Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore,' Mr. Khera said on X. 'And now, in another shocking revelation by Capt. Shiv Kumar, it has emerged that the Indian Air Force lost fighter jets to Pakistan on the night of May 7, 2025, during its targeting of Pakistan's terror-linked sites, only because of the constraint given by the political leadership,' he added. Mr. Khera alleged that the latest revelations were a direct indictment of the Modi Government, particularly Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. The Congress leader claimed the government was 'scared' of Congress as it was not sure what the Opposition party could 'expose'. 'No wonder they are ducking our demand for a Special Session of Parliament like the plague,' Mr. Khera alleged.

Amit Shah-Nadda and Kharge to energise party leaders, cadres in Chhattisgarh

RAIPUR: July 7 will be a significant day in Chhattisgarh politics as the national presidents of two rival political parties will be in the State to energise their respective leaders and cadres. The Opposition Congress is organising a mega public rally in the State capital to be addressed by the party chief, Mallikarjun Kharge. He is expected to give a strong message to the party on how to get going aggressively against the ruling regime on issues of public interests. The Opposition has planned a 'Kisan-Jawan-Samvidhan' public meeting to strengthen its voice against BJP's double engine government and gear-up the party leaders and cadres. To make the upcoming rally create an expected impact, the Congress state leadership has asked the office bearers of different organisations and fronts of the party, including the MLAs, elected representatives to ensure the people of their respective areas turn up in good numbers. The party has given responsibility to its leaders to cover all districts of the state and hold discussions with the cadres right up to the grassroot level. 'The BJP government in Chhattisgarh has lost the trust of the public and it looks towards Delhi for directions and decisions for governance in the state. Now it's our responsibility to fix the accountability of the government', said Sachin Pilot, state Congress party in-charge. The alleged issues of losing public trust, deteriorating law and order, school education, farmers, misusing agencies, and silencing dissent will be the key focus of the Congress.
