MPs have every right to file motions, Johari says amid no-confidence talk
However, the Titiwangsa MP said any decision on a motion is made by Parliament.
"No one can forbid it (filing a motion)," he told reporters after officiating the Shah Alam Umno division meeting here.
"If it is brought to Parliament... we will see who gets support and who does not, and Parliament will decide."
He was asked to comment on opposition leader Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin's remarks at the Pas-led rally yesterday, in which he hinted at filing a motion of no-confidence against Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
However, Perikatan Nasional chief whip Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan dismissed such a plan.
He said a vote of no-confidence was limited to members of Parliament and that the opposition might not have enough numbers to move such a vote.
Anwar said today that he was open to any motion of no-confidence brought against him in Parliament.

People's views not same as those with lust for power, says PM's aide

Umno must act on principle even if unpopular, says Zahid
Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi called for party members to take BN's failure to form the government in the past two general elections as a lesson and turning point to rebuild the party's strength. (Bernama pic) RAUB : Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said that in today's challenging political landscape, decisions made by the party are aimed at ensuring the country's stability and future, even if those decisions are unpopular. Explaining the matter when officiating the Raub Umno division delegates' meeting, he emphasised that in any struggle, not all decisions taken will be comfortable, but they must be principled. 'No matter how high our position is in the party or government, we must realise that every post is a trust that must be carried out with full responsibility,' he said. Zahid, who is also Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman and deputy prime minister, said what Umno needs most right now is unity of purpose and a strong fighting spirit, without faltering when tested.
