'I made Karren Brady so furious for what I did at West Ham - I didn't repeat it'
Ex-West Ham star Ravel Morrison has discussed the huge telling-off he received from Hammers ' vice-chairman Karren Brady. Morrison joined the Irons in 2012 for a three-year stint which was mostly spent out on loan.
Under Sam Allardyce, the midfielder showcased glimpses of his raw talent that had led many to label him as one of the country's most naturally gifted footballers. Now 32, Morrison's career has been a mix of brilliant individual moments and off-pitch mayhem.
Talking on the Undr The Cosh podcast, the former Derby County player recounted how he found himself in hot water with Brady for driving to training without a full UK licence.
"So, obviously, I drove to training on a provisional license, and Karren Brady went mad. She went mad. I didn't do that again," Morrison said. "Someone must have told her. Like, I had to apologise, pick up the keys, get someone to pick me up from the car."
When quizzed if he'd bought said car before getting a proper licence, Morrison said: "A provisional license. I didn't live that far from the training ground, so I thought I could just [drive to training] quick... but I didn't get away with it with Karren."
Morrison revealed the reason he hadn't taken his test is that he struggles to navigate the theory section, claiming he wasn't "the brightest". However, he said he does have a Jamaican and Mexican licence - but not an English one.
The one-time Manchester United prodigy often found himself in the limelight just as much for his extraordinary goals as well as controversial incidents off the field. Yet speaking to The Athletic in June, Morrison argued that the root cause of his issues was often simple errors such as oversleeping and missing training, challenging the more damaging rumours tied to his reputation.
"I just couldn't wake up sometimes," he said. "They were easy mistakes to make - stupid mistakes, yeah - but it's not like I was out drinking in town every weekend and having fights. It was only once in a blue moon when I would be late.
"What I've found is that if you get a reputation early on, it can stick with you through life. Or it does with me, anyway."
Morrison has struggled to settle in a career that has taken him to 15 different clubs since 2010. As well as spells in the UK with the likes of Birmingham City, Queens Park Rangers and Cardiff City, Morrison has been all over the world.
He has played in Italy with Lazio, Mexico with Atlas, and also had stints with Swedish club Ostersund, Dutch outfit ADO Den Haag and MLS side DC United. However, he does have regrets.
"If I could go back in time I would change 90% of my life," Morrison said on Rio Ferdinand's Vibe with Five podcast in 2021. "But you have to look forward, you can't think about the past too much."
Morrison departed the Hammers in 2015 after making 24 appearances and scoring five goals, but has fondly recalled his stint in east London as an "enjoyable" one. "If I had the opportunity I'd have stayed with West Ham all the way through," he said in February 2021.

But I'll stick my neck on the line right now and say Rangers will win the Premiership. My Celtic friends out there will say I'm bound to get it right one day if I keep tipping my old club! Yet this properly feels like a new era at Rangers — with fresh ideas under the American owners and Russell Martin. It's going to be tough and you can't argue with Celtic starting the season as favourites to win a fifth successive title. But right now, they are weaker than they were last season and while you could say the same about Rangers, Martin's squad is getting stronger all the time. Mikey Moore was the latest arrival on Friday. I wouldn't expect too much too soon from the Spurs kid, but it's another attacking option. With Djeidi Gassama hitting the ground running and Thelo Aasgaard arriving with a big reputation, Rangers will be strong offensively. Yes, Hamza Igamane looks to be heading out and there is uncertainty over the future of Cyriel Dessers but Martin — backed by Andrew Cavenagh and the 49ers — will not be left short if one or two do go. Rangers transfer special as Russell Martin eyes THREE wingers, Coady latest and Dowell future Across the city, Brendan Rodgers is now at the stage of the transfer window where he's making a public appeal for players. In Kieran Tierney and Benjamin Nygren, Celtic have made two top signings. But the manager wants more and you can sense a bit of concern among the fanbase. With Jota injured, Nicolas Kuhn gone and Rodgers still asking for a Kyogo Furuhashi replacement, Celtic look short in attack. The uncertainty over the manager's future won't help matters as he enters the final 12 months of his contract. Then you have the Daizen Maeda situation, with that new contract still not signed months after it was put on the table. There is no doubt the Japanese striker will be a target for English and European clubs. At 27, he is at the stage where his next deal will be the biggest of his career. It wouldn't surprise me if Celtic got a massive bid for Maeda before the window shuts and I'm not sure they would turn it down. The same goes for Rangers and Nico Raskin, another player who will be attracting major interest. Cavenagh and the Ibrox board have made it clear a strong player-trading model is at the core of their plan. 4 That might mean cashing in on Raskin this summer and while he would be a loss, Celtic would miss Maeda a whole lot more. Whatever happens, I can't see Rodgers' side running away with the title like they have in the recent past. Martin hasn't wasted time in building foundations and with a few more additions Rangers will be strong title contenders. Below the Old Firm, I don't see anyone beating Hearts to third place under Derek McInnes. With Tony Bloom and Jamestown Analytics on board, the Tynecastle club have long-term ambitions of winning the league. That won't happen this season but they could surprise a lot of people after a summer of shrewd recruitment. From Stuart Findlay to Claudio Braga, Hearts' signings have been excellent. Keeping Lawrence Shankland was also crucial. In McInnes, they also have a manager who knows Scottish football inside out and they will finish third. Hibs will be up there battling with their Edinburgh rivals and I would expect another strong season from David Gray's men as they continue to progress. Then come Aberdeen and it will be fascinating to see if Jimmy Thelin can build on the Scottish Cup win. I have been critical of the Dons' signing policy and with European football to deal with, they still look a bit short. Keeping hold of boss Stephen Robinson amid all the interest in him was a major coup and I fully expect them to have another strong season. Dundee United produced two solid European performances as they booked a Conference League tie with Rapid Vienna. Jim Goodwin clearly believes that you get better value signing players from outwith Scotland and I find that alarming. But he is doing a good job at Tannadice and you would expect them to battle St Mirren for that sixth place. Then there is a pack of four clubs who probably won't bother the top six — but should be safe of automatic relegation. Kilmarnock are among them. They have lost key players but Stuart Kettlewell is a sensible appointment and they will be fine. Falkirk have momentum after back-to-back promotions and are good to watch. They will find it much tougher, but they should have enough to steer clear of danger. The same goes for Livingston but I would have more concerns over Motherwell and the potential for them to get dragged into the play-off. As for relegation, I can't see past Dundee as things stand. I didn't agree with the sacking of Tony Docherty and they have since lost an entire team. They should have obliterated their League Cup group but instead failed to qualify. Docherty's replacement Steven Pressley is already under pressure from the Dundee fans and I fear things won't get much better for them. It all starts this weekend, with four games live on Sky Sports and all the best coverage in The Scottish Sun. As usual, there will be drama and chaos — and I can't wait for it. Celtic manager on why Russell Martin will cope with Rangers pressure
Supporters of the Glasgow giants were underwhelmed when former MK Dons, Swansea City and Southampton manager Martin was named as Philippe Clement's successor back at the start of June. But the ex-Scotland internationalist has recruited extensively this summer and his new-look side defeated Panathinaikos of Greece 3-1 on aggregate in the Champions League second qualifying round last month. The Northern Irishman, who is in his second spell in charge of his boyhood heroes, feels the loan that Martin had as a player in Govan back in 2018 will prove invaluable to his counterpart in his new role. 'I think the challenge always excites you when you come into a new season,' he said. 'I don't know Russell that well, but I've spoken to him. As a young manager and coach through his career, he's done very well. I followed him at Swansea, as a former club, and he did well there. Obviously, then it was a difficult season for them in the Premier League, but that is a tough, tough league. 'But Russell, having been up here before, knows the pressures. One of the big things about managing Celtic and Rangers is managing pressure. The football idea and the coaching are obviously very important. 'It is important to have an identity and a style, but managing and playing under pressure is what's key up here. Livingston have come straight back up after getting relegated. Again, they are experienced managers. So I think the league as a whole will be strong and competitive.'

Caley Thistle transfer news: Aberdeen's Alfie Bavidge makes loan return as ICT make hat-trick of signings
Caley Thistle go into Saturday's League One opener at Kelty Hearts boosted by the signing of three signings – two strikers and a defender. Aberdeen's Alfie Bavidge has returned to ICT on loan, this time for the entire 2025-26 campaign. And he was followed by ex-Blackburn Rovers youth player Chanka Zimba, 23, most recently with National League North side Marine, then Celtic centre-back Mitchell Robertson, 20, arrived on loan until the end of the season to complete the set. Bavidge, 19, enjoyed a fruitful loan spell at ICT last term when he scored six goals in 10 games before being ruled out with a hamstring injury in March. After impressing in the Dons academy, scoring plenty of goals throughout his young career, the striker made his first-team debut in February 2023, coming on as a substitute in a 2-1 win against Motherwell. In 2023-24, Bavidge had an impressive loan run at League One Kelty Hearts, scoring nine goals in 26 outings. After making 15 appearances and scoring two goals for Ayr United last term, he sealed a loan move to Inverness where his dad Martin played from 1999-2002. He once again reunites with his team-mate Alfie Stewart, who was also on loan from the Dons in the Highland capital last season. Inverness head coach Scott Kellacher said: 'I'm delighted to have Alfie back. 'He was superb last season. That's what we're looking for again for him to come back and produce that type of form. 'Hopefully Alfie can kick on, he's a great lad, great about the club and it is important we have that type of characters about the place.' 'We'd like to thank Stuart Duff and Aberdeen FC for their assistance with this deal.' Aberdeen boss Jimmy Thelin said: 'We've had a good look at Alfie throughout pre-season, and we believe that he will benefit further from another period of regular game time. 'We'll be monitoring his progress closely and will review the position again at the turn of the year.' And Bavidge said: 'I'm buzzing, the gaffer always said I'd be welcome back and it is always something I was going to be interested in because of how much I enjoyed the spell last season. Hopefully I can keep going where I left of and start the season well.' Zimba, whose deal is subject to international clearance, started his career at Blackburn Rovers before moving to Cardiff City. While at Cardiff, he had loan spells with Northampton Town, Newport County and Maidenhead United. He made two appearances for Marine last season. Zimba said: 'I'm delighted, it came around pretty quickly but I'm so happy to be here. 'I'm grateful to the gaffer for giving me the opportunity, showing some faith in me and now it is time work hard.' And Kellacher added: 'Chanka has settled in today and he's got to know the boys. We've worked hard behind the scenes on the deal and it was important we got a different type of striker.' Robertson is the captain of the Celtic B team and signed an extension with the Glasgow side in January this year. The centre-back has been a mainstay with Hoops' B side in recent years, first breaking into Stephen McManus' line-up during the 2021-22 campaign. Featuring as a regular in competitions including the UEFA Youth League and Premier League International Cup, he has gained a number of important experiences within the youth ranks. He also played his part in lifting the Scottish Youth Cup and Glasgow Cup. Robertson said: 'I'm excited with this move, the club has big ambitions of where they want to be. It's been a quick turnaround. I spoke to the gaffer who was great with me so I'm looking forward to getting started.' Kellacher said: 'We're over the moon to get Mitchell in, he'll be a massive addition for us. He gives us that bit of strength in depth in the centre-back position.'
