Look out London and Paris, there's a new fashion week in town

Tweed, tech and a touch of trad — Paul Costelloe is set to headline the first Ireland Fashion Week, describing the event as a 'historic moment'.
Not to be confused with Dublin Independent Fashion Week which returns for its third year from September 22, Ireland Fashion Week will run from October 6 to 10 in venues in Dublin, Connemara and the midlands.
It will feature three flagship shows, two spotlight events and three mixed showcases, highlighting graduate and professional designers.
Costelloe, Sinead Keary, Aoife McNamara and Rashhiiid by Rachel Maguire are among the 54 Irish designers who will be taking part, while Thalia Heffernan will model some of their designs.
Costelloe, who turned 80 last month, reported retained earnings of €2 million to the end of August last year through his company Paul Costelloe Design Management.
Commenting on his involvement in Ireland Fashion Week, he told The Sunday Times: 'It is a historic moment when Irish fashion steps out of the shadows to be acclaimed and considered. It shouldn't compare itself to Paris or London fashion weeks but base itself on its own culture and creativity.'
The event is an initiative by Ashley McDonnell, a Galway-born digital leader in luxury and tech who is the managing director of Puig, a Spanish fashion and beauty business with subsidiaries such as Jean Paul Gaultier, Nina Ricci and Charlotte Tilbury.
McDonnell, who lives in Dublin and Paris, said she had a long wish list of designers and models that she wanted to be involved. Thankfully this is now reality. She has also invited Sidney Toledano, a former chief executive of Christian Dior Couture, as well as Jonathan William (JW) Anderson.
'In terms of designers, we also have Bold Golf, a brand that I only discovered during the application process and I'm so impressed by what they have built in a year and a half,' she said.
'For our mixed show, which is under the theme of 'Irish roots', we have ten designers that will do four looks each and are going to tell the story of Ireland through fashion.
'That one is going to be something that blows everyone away because we've got designers who basically graduated in the last year, all the way to Magee which was founded in 1866. We'll also have a couple of models coming over from Paris and London and we'll be able to give their names pretty soon.'
McDonnell, 31, said the aim of Ireland Fashion Week was to build a robust, domestic fashion industry that had 'financial accountability and could be self-sustained'.
She said: 'One thing I feel that we have struggled with in Ireland is building an actual robust industry where everyone involved is able to be financially independent and where we can pay all the other creatives that need to be involved in a successful fashion business. So that's what the idea behind all of this is.
'The beauty of Ireland Fashion Week is that it's the first one, so we're able to set the standards really high. It was never my dream to create a fashion week but ultimately I want to build the future luxury group of Ireland platform brands and help them go international. I felt that without a really strong platform at home for brands to build that foundation, brands would be limited.'
McDonnell said Ireland Fashion Week would focus on authenticity, with Irish themes built into each show.
'Somebody asked me how will it be unique, how will someone look at an image or video from the week and know that it's Ireland fashion,' she said.
'The beauty of Ireland is that I don't think we're going to struggle with that because we are really unique. We lean into our heritage with textiles, our environment and architecture.
'We are producing shows that will be running from themes of heritage and modern heritage to Irish roots, and Irish themes with sportswear and streetwear. I don't think anyone's going to have any issues in identifying Ireland Fashion Week and that that's an Irish designer.'
McDonnell believes her event could eventually compete with the likes of London and Paris.
'This is a long-term investment — we have a tech fund of €7.5 million that will be distributed across all of those designers,' she said. 'We have a production budget of €1 million for our events and shows and we are subsidising 90 to 100 per cent of the cost of these fashion shows.
'We are doing this because we see it as a strategic investment to boost the whole creative ecosystem. I hope this will also speed us up in catching up with other countries and cities that have fashion weeks around the world.'
Heffernan will host a model boot camp as part of the week, which will aim to find and nurture Irish talent.
McDonnell said: 'This was the brainchild of Thalia. She came to me and said, 'I want to be a part of this in a more authentic and valuable way. I want to be able to help spot upcoming talent but also give people the tools they need to be able to succeed.'
'We're going to be hosting a casting day which Thalia will be a part of and then we're going to host the model boot camp where models are able to learn everything from how to walk on the runway, but also how to build their modelling careers.'
McDonnell, who dreamt of a career in fashion from the age of 16, began working for Christian Dior in Paris when she was 23. 'Anyone who was with me in secondary school will probably say that they always knew I'd end up working in fashion,' she said.
'I heard about a show that was going to take place in London, showcasing illustrations from Christian Dior. I went to the exhibition and said to my mum, 'I'm going to work for Christian Dior in Paris.' She didn't say that's impossible and she didn't say it's possible either.
'I did my research and realised most people that worked in fashion at Christian Dior studied at HEC Paris [the business school]. It took me a few years but I eventually got there and sure enough, in my first week, we had a recruiter on campus from Christian Dior. Before I even graduated, I had a full-time offer to join the headquarters in Paris as a digital manager.'

Stella McCartney, 53, enjoys a rare outing with lookalike daughter Bailey, 18, as they head out for a low-key shopping trip together in Notting Hill

Stella McCartney was spotted on a rare outing with her lookalike daughter Bailey as they enjoyed a shopping trip together in Notting Hill on Saturday. The designer, 53, opted for a more laid-back look than the glamorous pieces she creates as she headed out for a spot of retail therapy. Bailey, who celebrated her 18th birthday in December, emulated her mum's relaxed sense of style in a blue striped top and grey wide-legged trousers. Meanwhile Stella was dressed in a simple white T-shirt and baggy jeans, as she and her daughter shared a sweet moment during the outing. Stella shares four children with British publisher Alasdhair Willis, who she married in 2003, sons Miller, 20, and Beckett, 17, and daughters Bailey and Reiley, 14. Despite her busy schedule, Stella had previously shared that she makes a point of dropping her children to school five days a week. In a 2019 interview with Vogue the designer, who divides her time between London and North Gloucestershire, said that as a working mother, she has to make the most of whatever time she can get in the day with her children. Opening up about the daily school run, she said: 'When you've got a job and you've got kids, it's when you get to see them, and you have to wake up super early and engage in that moment. 'Then I try and squeeze in some exercise, and then I go to work. And I try and get back for the bookending of being a mum.' Stella was fiercely guarded about her family's privacy throughout their childhood, and never shares photos of her children on social media. In a 2016 interview with Porter, Stella said she tried to give her heads a more level-headed upbringing than she had, as the daughter of Beatles legend Paul McCartney. She said: 'I lived on a farm, but I went on tour and I knew crazy famous people, like crazy. And for my children, it's not dissimilar, they go to the farm and they're in the field getting muddy and falling over, and then they come here and they're surrounded by crazy famous people. 'I worry about that. But I think I turned out okay-ish, and I hope that they will be okay.' She added that her kids also have 'a great relationship' with their grandfather, saying: 'I love seeing them with Grandpa, or Grandude as they call him. They're real proud of him and they get excited by [his music].' Paul himself had also said he has a 'pretty normal' relationship with his grandchildren, despite his huge fame. Speaking on Chris Evan's Virgin Radio Breakfast show, he said: 'You know, I love them and I love being a granddad. And we spend quite a good bit of time together. 'We don't live near each other, but we go on holiday together, like Christmas. And in the summer we'll see each other. And then sometimes me and Nancy pick them up from school. So that's nice.' Stella tied the knot with publisher Alasdhair back in August 2003 with a Mount Stuart House ceremony. She is one of Paul's five children, with the former Beatles star also sharing daughters Heather, Mary and son James, with his late wife Linda McCartney. While sharing youngest daughter Beatrice with Heather Mills. Launched in 2001, Stella's brand has attracted many high-profile fans such as Beyoncé, Amal Clooney and Taylor Swift. It sells products such as vegan leather shoulder bags for £925 and a leopard print trench coat for £1,790. McCartney has also designed Team GB's kit for the Olympic Games since 2012. But her company has not reaped a profit since it made £9m in 2017, and in March, the label said it would need further cash in 2028 amid a drastic global slowdown in demand for luxury fashion.

Emily Ratajkowski shows off her slender physique in a fitted black dress as she celebrates new Gucci campaign with intimate dinner in the Hamptons

Emily Ratajkowski drew attention to her lithe physique as she celebrated the new Gucci obsession campaign with an intimate dinner in the Hamptons on Saturday. The supermodel, 34, stunned as she slipped into a figure hugging black evening dress, complete with a daring thigh-length slash. She added inches to her frame by teaming the outfit with a pair of black shiny stilettos featuring a gold heeled detail. To accessorise, Emily embraced the theme of the night by opting for a pair trendy black Gucci sunglasses. Adding an extra hint of glamour, she carried her belongings in a beige Gucci bag featuring the brand's trademark red and green strap. Emily recently opened up about motherhood as she hit back at critics and opened up about 'decentering' men as she stopped by the Today show. The beauty — whose ex-boyfriend is expecting a child — joined hosts Jenna Bush Hager and guest co-host Willie Geist to talk about her role in the new Netflix show Too Much, which was released on the streaming site on July 10. At one point, Emily was questioned if it was true that she has been 'deprioritising' men in her life. The model was previously married to Sebastian Bear-McClard from 2018 until their divorce in 2022. The former couple - who share son Sly, four - had split amid accusations that he was a 'serial cheater.' 'Well, the kids say decentering,' Emily joked, and elaborated to the Today hosts that it was true. 'I am a single mom and I just really, I think as I've gotten older I started to really value community with other women particularly. And that's definitely a priority for me.' She added, 'I think it's one of the best parts about living in New York as I get to meet so many amazing women and queer people. And yeah, I really value community these days.' Following her split from her husband, Emily seemingly came out as bisexual in October 2022 after posting a TikTok clip. Emily recently opened up about motherhood as she hit back at critics and opened up about 'decentering' men as she stopped by the Today show The media personality reacted to a video that asked those who 'identify as bisexual' if they 'own a green velvet couch.' In the reel, the star could be seen lounging on a sofa and then panned the camera to show off her green velvet couch. The following month, she expressed to Harper's Bazaar: 'I think sexuality is on a sliding scale. 'I don't really believe in straight people.' Emily later said, 'I want to be able to have fun with how I present myself in the world without feeling like I'm a bad feminist or a good feminist. 'Duh. I don't want to be a part of your club if you don't want to have me. It's fine!'

Junior also posed for photos on the red carpet in a grey jumper and black jeans, while Jasmine rocked black camo cargo trousers and a black vest. His younger sister was recently compared to their famous mum while on holiday in Mexico. Princess posted snaps wearing a white bikini and letting her blonde tresses fall naturally curly around her shoulders. With a glowing tan and wearing a white two-piece bikini, the star looked every inch like her mum back in her early modelling days in 1995. The Sun previously revealed how Princess is set to be a millionaire now she's 18 after signing a huge deal with fashion brand PrettyLittleThing and moving into TV. The youngster, whose mum shot to fame as glamour girl Jordan at the same age, is getting her own ITV show. While Katie has undergone countless procedures over the years including veneers, filler, Botox, BBL, facelifts and boob jobs, Princess was recently forced to hit back at trolls recently who accused her of having lip filler. But Princess has insisted she will stay natural, but did not judge anyone for the choices they made for their own body. "I feel like everyone is entitled to do what they want to their body. But I personally don't look at [cosmetic surgery] and think: ''Oh, yeah, I want to do that'," she previously told The Sun. Emotional Peter Andre reveals strict rule for Princess and Junior "I think it's important, especially for the younger generation on social media, to embrace natural beauty. My sisters are 10, and I want to set an example to them that they're amazing how they are." As for her dad, Peter recently revealed navigating social media with his kids. The singer-songwriter, 52, spoke exclusively to The Sun this month where he opened up about how he keeps his kids safe on social media in an age where views and likes are at the forefront. The TV personality is also dad to Amelia, 11, Theo, eight, and 15-month-old Arabella with wife Emily Andre, said he's banned his kids from using their mobile phones at the dinner table. He admitted this proved challenging, especially with Junior and Princess boasting a combined 1.3million Instagram followers. He told us: "It's really interesting about my oldest two having been quite popular on social media. And I remember that when social media first started, we had no clue. "It just looked like a bit of fun. It was again, that kind of, that nice little imagery of this really fun thing, being on your phone and you could play games and you could do all this "And it lures you in. And now, you know, both my kids' jobs, it's about your interactions. It's about your followers. It's about brands." 4
