Govt reviews preparations for CET
While additional chief secretary, home department, Sumita Misra on Friday reviewed the preparations of the district administration for the CET in Panchkula, other senior officials, including those from civil and police administration, reviewed arrangements in their respective districts.
Around 13.70 lakh applicants are expected to take the examination. The HSSC has also made an arrangement of around 1,000 Haryana Roadways buses for those taking exams – for shuttle service to examination centres.
The HSSC teams also made arrangements for the conduct of examination, even as the officials of district administration reviewed security arrangements in and around the exam centres.
The preparations were being made in addition to invoking the prohibitory orders within the 500-metre radius of the examination centres and setting up special police check posts at strategic locations.
Sumita Misra, while reviewing arrangements, directed the police to maintain strict vigil while being courteous to candidates and their guardians.

Extending her best wishes to all the aspirants, she urged them to arrive at exam centres well in advance.
Any candidate facing difficulties en route can approach the nearest police personnel for assistance, she said. Police have been instructed to escort stranded candidates to their exam centres without delay, Sumita added.
She also directed for the setting up of helpdesks at bus stands and other prominent locations for the convenience of candidates.
Sumita further urged students and parents not to fall for fake messages, letters, or rumours circulating on social media. "Follow only official instructions issued by the Haryana Staff Selection Commission, the police, or the district administration," she said, adding that any attempt to spread misinformation or share forged documents would result in immediate police action.
Transport arrangements for Teej (BOX)
Haryana transport minister Anil Vij on Friday announced that on Saturday and Sunday, general passengers would also be allowed to travel in the buses operating in various cities of Haryana for the common entrance test candidates. He said his suggestion was accepted by CM Nayab Singh Saini, as July 27 coincides with Teej celebrations, a widely observed cultural and religious festival in Haryana, and a large number of citizens, particularly women, travel to visit their families and temples.
He further said it was equally important to ensure smooth, uninterrupted, and safe public transportation for the general public.

This used to be one of the things that was holding up an agreement. There, we have a good deal. Indians can work in 35 sectors for two years without any office and that means you can land up there and just work from your residence with zoom and you can be functioning without going through all the difficulties of setting up a formal sector and there is an exemption for social security. This is important. A significant part of your salary, anything you earn when your people go to the UK, is cut and goes towards your long-term pension. Our fellows are going there to do IT or other work for one year, for two years, for three years, so there is no point in them paying into social security when they will get nothing out of it once they retire. You have to work a very large number of years before you can get those benefits. Earlier they resisted it and said they were not going to do it. The United States still has not allowed this, but Britain has given what the United States has not given and this is very useful. I do not know the exact rates of the deduction for different categories, but 10-15% or sometimes 20% of your salaries went in these various deductions. If that gets reduced, there is that much more these Indian professionals will be able to send home. So that is a positive thing.

‘Those who are impure can't visit mosque': Muslim body writes to Delhi CM Rekha Gupta after SP Parliament meet; seeks imam's Nadvi removal
NEW DELHI: The president of the All India Muslim Jamaat, Maulana Shahabuddin Razvi Barelvi, has written to Delhi chief minister Rekha Gupta demanding the removal of Maulana Mohibbullah Nadvi from his position as imam of a mosque in the national capital. His demand comes days after a Samajwadi Party (SP) meeting was allegedly held inside the mosque, where Nadvi serves as imam and is also the SP Member of Parliament from Rampur, Uttar Pradesh. In his letter, Barelvi said: "By holding a meeting of Samajwadi Party inside the mosque, the sanctity of the mosque has been violated, and the religious faith of the Muslims has been hurt." "No other work can be done inside the mosque except offering prayers to the God," he added. According to Barelvi, the SP meeting was attended by party chief Akhilesh Yadav , his wife and MP Dimple Yadav, MPs Dharmendra Yadav, Ziaur Rahman Barq, and other leaders. "Impure people cannot come inside the mosque. Only those people can come to the mosque who are pure," he wrote. Suvendu Adhikari urges ECI to exclude domicile certificates issued after July 25 from Bengal voter roll revision

Adhikari raised concerns about a potential voter list manipulation scheme in West Bengal.
