It was alleged that the builder's accountant escaped with injuries after the goons hired at Rajan's behest opened fire.
Judge AM Patil said, "In the present case in hand, it was the duty of the prosecution to establish how the present accused is connected with the other accused and when he entered into such conspiracy. But, they failed to prove the same. It can be said that the prosecution has failed to prove the guilt of the accused."
Rajan (69) will continue to remain in jail as he is serving a life sentence for the 2011 murder of journalist J Dey. The 2004 case against Rajan and others was among the 71 cases that were transferred to CBI after he was deported from Bali in 2015. The injured victim Prakash More, was among the 23 witnesses cited by the prosecution. More revealed that in 2004, he was employed as an accountant at the premises of M/s Shelter Maker India Private Limited, an entity owned by Nandkumar Harchandani, situated at Manjarekar Wadi, Teli Galli, Andheri (East), where development activities were in progress.
He further submitted that on Sept 16, 2004, between 10.15am and 10.30am, while present on duty , a group of approximately six to seven individuals forcibly entered the office. Two members of this groupexclaimed in Hindi, "The boss told you to stop work, didn't he?"
He further deposed that upon his denial of any knowledge, one of the individuals discharged the firearm; however, he evaded the bullet. The remaining individuals present outside assaulted him.
Thereafter, he contacted Harchandani and narrated the incident.

Tripura Allies BJP And Tipra Motha Workers Clash During Mann Ki Baat Broadcast

Guwahati: In a major political development in Tripura, members of the BJP and its key ally Tipra Motha clashed on Sunday at an area where BJP supporters claimed to have assembled to listen to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's monthly radio broadcast Mann Ki Baat. The police said they have filed a case following the clash that broke out in Khowai district. Political analysts said the incident indicated the growing strain in the relationship between the two allies in Tripura. "I have no idea, but local people know who attacked first. They know the culprits as well, so they filed a police case. The police will take strong action and arrest the suspects," Triprua Chief Minister Manik Saha told reporters. According to police sources, some 30 BJP functionaries and their supporters were assembled at a house in the district's Asharambari assembly constituency to listen to Mann Ki Baat. A large group of Tipra Motha workers and supporters also reached the place. The clash broke out after that. The immediate cause is not known. Tipra Motha founder Pradyot Manikya Debburman in a recorded video posted on social media confirmed the clash happened. "We don't want any political violence in Tripura. If we the Tiprasa still keep fighting for the sake of a political flag, one day we will be left with no land. The BJP should also be careful. Many CPI(M) supporters are either in BJP or Motha and indulging in all these," he said. Eight motorcycles and two cars were damaged in the clash. A large number of police personnel have been posted in the area. Tension is still high, sources said.

Need better coordination on new threats: Amit Shah

Stressing the new security challenges that need to be tackled through "better coordination", Union home minister Amit Shah on Sunday directed the "formation of homogenous teams of central and state agencies to develop strategies, implement and monitor them." This came after two days of the National Security Strategies Conference (NSSC) that concluded late Sunday where Shah further instructed the involvement of young police officers in each state to brainstorm on national challenges and devise solutions to address them. He urged that the use of national databases like NATGRID, NIDAAN, iMoT and CBI's fugitive database be inculcated amongst young officers by including them in all training programmes, according to an official statement. Addressing the 8th NSSC, the home minister said the government has resolved numerous issues scattered across states as he emphasised that the next 5-10 years would be very important for the development and security of the country. "The minister exhorted the police and central security agencies to adopt the motto of 'Suraksha, Sajagta and Samanvay' (Security, Alertness and co-ordination)," the statement noted. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Senior Living Homes in Dharashiv May Surprise You Senior Living | Search Ads Undo
