Amy Macdonald to perform surprise free pop up set in Glasgow to mark new album tour dates
The chart-topping Scots singer's new single Is This What You've Been Waiting For? premiered on BBC Radio 2's Scott Mills show this morning.
Amy Macdonald is to perform free pop up set at Glasgow's Princes Square, Glasgow to celebrate her new album and a UK and European tour announcement. The chart-topping Scots singer's new single Is This What You've Been Waiting For? premiered on BBC Radio 2 's Scott Mills show this morning.
It will be followed by Amy's new album of the same name which is released on July 11. Amy's tour will see her perform a massive homecoming show at Glasgow's OVO Hydro.
But this week she has lined up a surprise pop-up show at Prince's Square at 1pm on Friday.
Amy, who is one of Scotland's favourite singers is known for her uplifting songs and relatable struggles. Her five albums, to date, have sold 12 million copies with over a billion streams.
She has also performed to over 5 million people worldwide. Her sixth album is currently available to pre-order. The Hydro show will take place on December 12.
As well as the tour dates, Amy has lined up major festival sets, including the Isle of Wight and the Neighbourhood Weekender, as well as further shows in Germany and Switzerland.
Amy said: 'I feel very lucky to be in the place I am now. I've got this career, good friends, my family, and people still seem to want to hear my music, which is great. There's a realness in me, something raw – honestly I'm winging it most of the time.'
The album's title track introduces the record.
Amy added: 'This song was actually inspired by when they opened The Sphere in Las Vegas – I woke up one day and saw all of these videos of it, and I thought, this is incredible! I was totally blown away by it, and it reminded me of how gigs are experiences.
'It really inspired me and made me think about how music is for me, and gigs have always been the most important part. But streaming has created the demand for new music all of the time – it's like a constant treadmill.
'This song is my view on how people always expect more music and social media content.'
A pre-sale for tour tickets, which opens at 10am on Monday, April 28. It will remain live until the general sale opens at 10am on Wednesday, April 30th. The full list of live dates across UK, Ireland and Europe are listed below.
In addition to digital formats, 'Is This What You've Been Waiting For?' will be released on black vinyl and CD from Amy's official store, while Amazon has an exclusive signed Deluxe CD.

Who is Bob Vylan after British rap duo led 'death to the IDF' chant at Glastonbury
The punk duo has sparked global condemnation after chanting "death, death to the IDF" at Glastonbury on Saturday Glastonbury Festival has wrapped up for another year, but amid sensational performances from the likes of The 1975 and Charlie XCX, and an emotional comeback from Scots singer Lewis Capaldi, there has been a lot of controversy. Artist Bobby Vylan, star of Bob Vylan, led festival-goers at Glastonbury's West Holts Stage in chants of "Death, death to the IDF" on Saturday. BBC iPlayer initially broadcast the scenes. Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer and the UK Israeli Embassy expressed their disapproval over the chants. The performance has since been removed from BBC iPlayer and a police investigation has been launched. condemnation by politicians both domestically and internationally. The conflict in Gaza has now claimed the lives of more than 56,000 Palestinians, more than half of which are women and children, as reported by Gaza's Health Ministry, which does not differentiate between civilians and combatants. So, who actually is Bob Vylan? Bob Vylan is a punk duo consisting of singer and guitarist Bobby Vylan, the frontman, and drummer Bobbie Vylan. They have never revealed their real names to protect their privacy. They formed in Ipswich, Suffolk in 2017, where Bobby, 34, grew up, and their musical style is a mix of punk, rap, and hard rock. Bobby started making music on the PlayStation game Music 2000 and became more politically aware thanks to a woman called Del White, who ran local African-Caribbean events in his area, according to The Guardian. He met Bobbie in a London bar in 2017. Both have since quit drinking. The pals started their own record label Ghost Theatre so they could "release music we feel is missing in a way that's fair and empowering". Success quickly followed and they toured, supporting Biffy Clyro and the Offspring, and performed at the Reading and Leeds Festivals in 2021. They have released five albums - Dread (2019), We Live Here (2020), Bob Vylan Presents The Price Of Life (2022), Bob Vylan Presents The Price Of Life (Deluxe) (2023) and last year's Humble As The Sun, as well as various singles and EPs. Bob Vylan's music has won them awards including best alternative act at the MOBOs in 2022, and best album at the Kerrang Awards in the same year. Their songs confront issues including racism, homophobia, toxic masculinity, and far-right politics. Gigs often include crowd-surfing and, as was the case over the weekend, controversial chants. In 2022, while performing a rendition of Wicked and Bad at Glastonbury, Bobby sang "Let's go dig up Maggie's grave and ask her where that milk went". Last year, Bobby told The Guardian that the band want to "use their existence to rally against injustice". Bobby attended his first pro-Palestine protest at the age of 15 with a friend's mother. Bob Vylan have collaborated with artists including Amyl And The Sniffers singer Amy Taylor, Soft Play guitarist Laurie Vincent, and rock band Kid Kapichi. The band also sell their own brand of jerk sauce called 'Burn Britannia'. The duo have been outspoken on the war in Gaza and called out other acts seen as left-wing who haven't been showing the same amount of public solidarity. The band are due to perform a series of gigs in the US in October and November this year. Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! Oasis reunion tour timings as brothers unveil exactly how long they will be on stage for
The countdown is on until the Oasis reunion tour. The time has almost come for Oasis to kick off their reunion tour and the band have now officially shared the timings for their first Live 25 tour in Cardiff. The band are set to play for over two hours at Cardiff's Principality Stadium as brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher will be on stage performing together live the first time in over ten years. Doors will open at 5pm before first support act Cast play at 6pm. Verve frontman and pal of the Gallagher brothers, Richard Ashcroft will then perform on stage at 7pm, writes The Mirror. Oasis will then finally come on stage at 8.15pm this Friday it has been confirmed. A new post from the official Oasis social media pages has revealed the band will play for just over two hours before they will end the set for a 22.30pm curfew. The news of the timings was met with a mixed reaction from fans who took to social media to discuss. One wrote: "Not a long enough gig for the ticket prices," while another chimed in: "Nonsense... most artists will be somewhere between 1hr 15 and 1hr 45 for standard gigs. They'll easily play 20+ songs for a gig over 2 hrs." "Two and a quarter hours is pretty much double the time that most artists do now and tickets cost about £130 which isn't double so if anything you get more time per pound," argued another. Another fan suggested the gig would be the longest the band have ever played, having previously performed 90 minute sets. Another added: "Have you ever caught Bruce Springsteen live? It's EXHAUSTING. The best shows Stones ever did were back in '78 and they were only around 80-90 mins. Oasis in 96 was 110. The lads gonna play around 110 this time around too. All well and good." Scots fans are counting down the days until the Edinburgh shows - 39 to be exact - and last week it was announced that fans who didn't manage to get their hands on a ticket may be given another chance. More tickets are set to be released for the Edinburgh Murrayfield gigs as the council have given the green light to increase the stadium's capacity. Liam and Noel Gallagher have put their differences aside after feuding for years to take part in the Oasis reunion tour which will head to Edinburgh for three nights this August - which are completely sold out. However, many will be happy to know that last week an application to Edinburgh City Council's licensing board to increase Murrayfield's capacity from 67,130 to 69,990 was approved - much to the delight of Scots Oasis fans. Councillor Louise Young, licensing board convener, said: 'An application to increase the capacity at Murrayfield for the upcoming Oasis concerts was approved by the Licensing Board on June 23. 'This decision followed consultation with the police and public safety officers.' Earlier this week the Gallagher brothers released a statement about releasing more tickets. They penned: "As the shows are getting closer, Oasis promoters may be able to release a very limited number of additional tickets for sale once final sight lines are checked and the production is fine tuned." It continued: "These final production releases will happen over the coming day." Fans who are members of Oasismynet have been urged to keep an eye on their inboxes for updates. "If you are an Oasismynet member, keep an eye on your inbox for an email from your regular Oasismynet or Ticketmaster correspondence address," the message added. Taking to Instagram, Lewis shared a video montage of himself performing on stage with the caption: "About time I got back to work… hope to see you out there." The clip revealed a string of dates across England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland and Lewis added: "Will be my only shows in the uk, ireland or europe this year! would love to see ya there 🌸 x." Simply cannot wait xxx." Nottingham Arena also posted: "We can't wait to have you back ❤️." Lewis will be performing in Sheffield, Aberdeen, Glasgow, London, Manchester, Birmingham, Nottingham, Cardiff and Dublin from September 7 to September 29. On Friday, Lewis made a big comeback on the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury Festival. His surprise set came exactly two years after he broke down on the same stage at Worthy Farm. Lewis had ended his 2023 performance early due to repeated tics caused by Tourettes and he then went on a two-year hiatus. But as he took to the stage on June 27, 2025, Lewis was met with chants of his name from 100,000 fans. The popstar, who is from Bathgate in West Lothian, told fans the past two years had been 'difficult' but admitted he had unfinished business to resolve. Lewis said to the crowd: "Glastonbury, it's so good to be back. I'm not gonna say much up here today because if I do, I think I'll probably start crying. "But I said it's just amazing to be here with you all, and I can't thank you all enough for coming out and coming and seeing me.' Making light of his 2023 performance, he added: "Second time's a charm on this one, everybody. "It's just a short set today, but I just wanted to come and finish what I couldn't finish the first time.' Festival-goers in Somerset teared up and chanted 'Oh Lewis Capaldi' as he treated them to the surprise 35-minute set with hits like Before You Go and Hold Me While You Wait. Introducing his new song, Survive, which dropped on Thursday, Lewis said: "I released a new song. The last two years haven't been the best for me. It's been quite difficult at times. "I wanted to write a song about overcoming that stuff and getting to the other side of it. "This has been my f****** goal to get here. This song's about that." Capaldi rounded off his set with a rendition of Someone You Loved. Holding back tears, he said: "I've got one more song to play before I leave. I think we all know what song it is. "I've really missed doing this over the last two years. It's been really difficult to think this wouldn't ever happen again. "Genuinely from the bottom of my heart, it means the f****** world. "I struggled to sing this song two years ago for a different reason. Tonight, I think I'll struggle to sing it for another one. This time it's a good one.
