The PIB Fact Check has debunked a claim circulating on WhatsApp about a pan-India helpline number 104 titled "Blood on Call" for blood requirements.
According to the PIB, this claim is misleading, and the Government of India is not running any such scheme.
The viral message, shared across multiple social media platforms and messaging apps, claimed that citizens could now dial 104 to request blood, which would be delivered within hours for a specified charge.
Dismissing these claims, PIB Fact Check in a post on X said, "This claim is #misleading, GOI is not running any such scheme!! This number is used for various helpline services in some states."

PIB also attached a graphic of the viral message with a red "MISLEADING" stamp to prevent the spread of disinformation.
According to PIB Fact Check, while the number 104 may be active in some states for general health-related services, it is not associated with a central government initiative for blood supply.
Meanwhile, on July 24, the PIB debunked any claims circulating on social media regarding the sealing of the official residence of former Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, saying that the former VP has not been asked to vacate his residence immediately.
"It is being widely claimed on social media that the Vice President's official residence has been sealed and the former VP has been asked to vacate his residence immediately. These claims are Fake. Solapur corporation seals nursing home, docs accused of bribing ASHAs to refer pregnant women from civic maternity homes
Kolhapur: The Solapur Municipal Corporation discovered that a gynaecologist and his doctor wife were enticing accredited social health activists (ASHAs) to refer pregnant women, who arrived for delivery at corporation-run maternity homes, to their private nursing home. The health officials of Solapur Municipal Corporation (SMC) sealed the private nursing home on Saturday, cancelled its registration to operate, and sought a reply from the doctors concerned. The health authorities are planning to register an FIR with the police against the doctor couple and the ASHAs. The transfer of pregnant women had been going on for months. Rakhi Mane, the chief health officer, initiated the investigation and found that some ASHAs had been added to a WhatsApp group created by the gynaecologist, where records of referred women were shared. The investigation also revealed that the doctors, who had started the facility only recently, bribed the ASHAs to secure patients. Speaking to TOI, Mane said, "We have sealed the hospital and the registration has been cancelled. Once we receive the response to the notice and confirm that such malpractice was occurring, we will seek action from the Medical Council of India. First, we will approach the police to file the FIR since the malpractice has led to the cheating of pregnant women, caused economic loss to the public maternity homes, and the episode has brought disrepute to our facilities. " Speaking about the cartel of referring pregnant women, Mane added, "We have found 20 very recent cases that were referred to the private nursing home. The ASHAs used to receive Rs 300 to Rs 5,000 depending on the condition of the patient. The private nursing home operators used to bribe the ASHAs with sarees, gifts, and lunch at expensive restaurants. We started suspecting the racket after observing a dip in patient flow to our seven maternity homes some months ago, but we lacked evidence, which we have now. " Sachin Ombase, municipal commissioner, said, "I have asked the health authorities to take the required action so that such instances can be avoided." Messages and calls made to the doctor couple and the nursing home's administration got no response.

CM Mann says 200 more Aam Aadmi Clinics to be opened across Punjab
Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Sunday said his government will open 200 new Aam Aadmi Clinics in the state, taking the total number of such healthcare centres to 1,081. Earlier, Mann launched a WhatsApp chatbot for the clinics. "It is a historic day in the healthcare sector of Punjab as a total of 881 Aam Aadmi Clinics across the state have been connected to a WhatsApp chatbot," said Mann. These clinics cater to nearly 70,000 patients daily, and in today's digital age, the chatbot will be most beneficial for patients, said Mann. Mann said the initiative is expected to bring revolutionary changes in healthcare services as approximately 90 per cent of Punjabis own a smartphone, and they can now be directly reached through WhatsApp. "Patients will receive complete health-related information via WhatsApp, and doctors' prescription slips will be accessible through the chatbot," said Mann. Diagnostic test reports will also be shared, and patients will receive reminders about their next consultation dates from the doctor, he said. Regular WhatsApp updates will be provided on care for elderly people with diabetes or blood pressure, pregnant women, and newborns, Mann said, adding that it will eliminate the need for patients to physically store prescriptions or medications, as they can access the information anytime on the messaging platform. Most importantly, Mann said patients can instantly share their reports with family members or consult another doctor through WhatsApp. The chief minister said the health department will also maintain a digital database of patients, their ailments, and treatments. "Punjab will soon be launching 200 more Aam Aadmi Clinics to ensure quality healthcare services for all," he said, adding that the state government is committed to providing free medical treatment to every citizen. Punjab is also the first state in the country to implement the ' Mukhya Mantri Sehat Yojana ', which provides medical treatment of up to Rs 10 lakh per family, he further said. Targeting the previous governments, Mann said in the poll manifestos, there was no mention of the health sector, due to which people were left to fend for themselves. He said the situation had deteriorated to the point where patients suffering from serious illnesses in villages did not even want to seek treatment because the high cost made them hesitant to push their families into debt. It is the duty of governments to provide quality health services free of cost, and they are fulfilling this responsibility with dedication, said Mann. Stating that the Punjab government is making significant efforts to turn the state into a medical hub, he informed that approval has been given for the establishment of four new medical colleges in Kapurthala, Hoshiarpur, Sangrur, and Nawanshahr. He claimed that due to several "pro-people' decisions, the people's trust in government institutions is increasing. Many children have shifted from private schools to the 'Schools of Eminence', he said, adding that this year, 208 students from government schools have cleared the prestigious JEE Advanced exam, and over 800 students have successfully passed the NEET exam. Calling the Road Safety Force (RSF) a life-saving force, Mann said hundreds of lives have been saved since its inception. He said when he was a member of Parliament, data indicated that more than 5,000 lives were lost annually in road accidents in Punjab. These clinics cater to nearly 70,000 patients daily, and in today's digital age, WhatsApp Chatbot will be most beneficial for patients.' Asserting this initiative would bring 'revolutionary changes' in healthcare services, the CM said: 'Approximately 90% of Punjabis use smartphones, and now, they can be contacted directly through WhatsApp — patients will receive complete health-related information like diagnostic test reports and reminders for upcoming consultation, as well as access prescriptions. Regular WhatsApp updates will be provided on care for elderly people suffering from diabetes or blood pressure, pregnant women, and newborns… This will eliminate the need for patients to physically store and manage healthcare data. Patients will also be able to instantly share health reports with family members or consult another doctor on WhatsApp.' He said the Department of Health and Family Welfare, Punjab, will 'maintain a digital database of patients and their ailments, treatments'. On the upcoming 200 AAMCs, he said 'this will ensure every resident gets quality medical services.' Recalling that Punjab was the first state in India to implement the 'Mukhmantri Sehat Bima Yojana' — providing medical treatment of up to Rs 10 lakh per family — Mann said: 'The Punjab government is making significant efforts to develop the state in a medical hub.' The approval for the establishment of four new medical colleges in Kapurthala, Hoshiarpur, Sangrur, and Nawanshahr has already been given. Further, slamming previous governments, Mann said 'their manifestos had no mention of Punjab's healthcare sector, due to which the public were left to fend for themselves.
