Real Madrid veteran confirms renewal talks are underway – ‘My dream is to retire here'
The Belgian goalkeeper revealed that talks over a contract extension are well underway and that staying at the club long-term remains his top priority.
'Renewing my contract? Negotiations are ongoing. I want to stay at Real Madrid for as long as possible. My dream is to retire with them,' Courtois said (h/t RM4 Arab), making his intentions clear.
While enjoying his off-season break, Courtois made a special appearance at the Formula 1 Belgian Grand Prix, where he was given the honour of starting the sprint race.
He also took part in the trophy presentation ceremony, handing awards to Max Verstappen, Oscar Piastri, and Lando Norris, the top three finishers of the event.
New deal already finalised
Although Courtois hinted that negotiations are still in progress, sources close to the club have confirmed that a new deal is already finalised.

His previous contract was due to expire in 2026, but the new agreement will extend it by one more year, until the summer of 2027.
The extension does not include any performance-based clauses, meaning the deal is unconditional and secure regardless of match appearances. An official announcement from the club is expected soon, with all terms now agreed.
Courtois, who is currently on holiday after playing the FIFA Club World Cup in the United States, will return to training with the rest of the squad at Valdebebas on August 4.
The team's competitive campaign begins on August 19 when they face Osasuna at the Santiago Bernabeu in their La Liga opener.
At 33, Courtois remains one of the best goalkeepers in world football, and Real Madrid's decision to tie him down for another season reflects the trust and value the club places in his experience and leadership.

Ansu Fati: already a setback at Monaco?
Europe Ansu Fati: already a setback at Monaco? One month after his arrival at AS Monaco, Ansu Fati has yet to set foot on the pitch. On loan from FC Barcelona in a bid to reignite a career hampered by injuries, the 22-year-old winger remains on the bench. And that situation could persist. Monaco head coach Adi Hütter has confirmed that the Spaniard is following a personalized program. The goal: to avoid any relapse and gradually bring him back to peak form: We need to be cautious with Ansu. He needs time to get back up to speed without risking anything. Absent from the pre-season matches, Fati could also miss the start of the campaign. It's another blow in a long series for the player once tipped by Barcelona as Messi's heir. Monaco holds a purchase option, but if this dry spell continues, a return to Catalonia seems inevitable… with no guarantees of playing time.

Report – Inter Milan To Move For Genoa Star If France Or Germany Internationals Sold
Inter Milan are ready to move for Genoa defender Koni De Winter if either Yann Bisseck or Benjamin Pavard are sold this summer. This according to today's print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews. Inter Milan are reportedly keen on Genoa defender Koni De Winter. The Belgian has impressed this season for Il Grifone. He has been one of the outstanding young defenders in Serie A. And the defense is certainly one area of the pitch where Inter will want to strengthen. However, the Corriere dello Sport report, Inter will only move for De Winter on the condition of a sale in defense. Inter To Move For De Winter If Bisseck Or Pavard Are Sold SEATTLE, WASHINGTON – JUNE 20: Benjamin Pavard of. FC. Internazionale Milano faces the media during the Training/Press Conference ahead of their FIFA Club World Cup 2025 match between FC Internazionale Milano and Urawa Red Diamonds at Virginia Mason Athletic Center on June 20, 2025 in Seattle, Washington. (Photo by) Specifically, the Corriere anticipate, the Nerazzurri would target De Winter as a reinforcement on the right side of their back three. Currently Inter have two players for that role. Yann Bisseck and Benjamin Pavard. The Corriere report that Bisseck is not a player Inter are particularly keen to sell. However, if they receive an offer of €40 million for the German international, it could sway them. Meanwhile, the Corriere anticipate, Inter would listen to offers for Benjamin Pavard. They would not mind offloading the Frenchman's €5 million net per season wages. And if either Bisseck or Pavard were to head for the exit door, the Corriere reports, Inter are ready to sign De Winter.

Liverpool drop MASSIVE hint that Alexander Isak deal is closer
Liverpool are reported to have been turned down by Newcastle in their first attempt to sign Alexander Isak. An official approach fell short of the Geordies' valuation - and Eddie Howe has been struggling to line up a successor. Those reports were swiftly followed up with claims from trusted journalists that Liverpool wouldn't be back. 🔴 Shop the LFC 2025/26 adidas home range Shop the LFC Store 🚨2025/26 LFC x adidas range🚨 LFC x adidas Shop the goalkeeper range today LFC x adidas Shop the new adidas range today! Newcastle's were emphatic in their refusal to do business and that was that. But there are some clues regarding this deal that all might not be what it seems. 🔴 Shop the LFC 2025/26 adidas away range One hint may well lie with Darwin Nunez. Al-Hilal intending to add Nunez Later on Friday it transpired from sources including Saudi insider Hamad al-Swilhy that Al-Hilal were pressing on with their attempts to sign Darwin from Liverpool. Simone Inzaghi - the Saudi Pro League giants' new manager - wants the Uruguayan frontman as his new striker. And all summer long it has appeared inevitable that Nunez could be leaving. If Liverpool were truly not intending to replace Darwin with Isak before the end of summer - then these rumours could be shut down pretty handily. But it remains the case that Nunez is likely to go. Liverpool won't leave themselves short Cast your mind back to last summer. Liverpool triggered Martin Zubimendi's release clause - but the deal fell apart when the player rejected the move. Richard Hughes was then criticised for neglecting to sign a replacement; the Reds instead went into the season with Ryan Gravenberch as their No1 pick in defensive midfield. The mantra at Anfield was that it was better to sign NO player than the WRONG player. We can safely assume that the stance remains the same. Liverpool will not buy a second choice. © IMAGO - Alexander Isak Liverpool If Isak doesn't come, why sell Nunez? They will either persist in their attempt to sign a priority target or else stick with what they've got. The indications are that Darwin will be sold - meaning a new No9 will certainly be required. And given Liverpool's previous conduct - if Isak is off the menu then they won't move for a different striker. That would mean Hugo Ekitike being Arne Slot's ONLY option in the centre-forward position next season before 'false nines' are considered.
