Amber Heard makes rare appearance following disastrous Johnny Depp trial... two months after welcoming twins

Daily Mail20-07-2025
Amber Heard is stepping back into the spotlight — and this time, onto the stage.
Just two months after quietly welcoming twins, Agnes and Ocean, the actress, 39, made her return to acting with Spirit of the People at the Williamstown Theatre Festival in Massachusetts.
The star's role as Genevieve in Jeremy O. Harris' new play marks her first role since the birth of her two youngest kids in May.
It also continues her gradual reemergence in the public eye following the widely publicized defamation trial with ex-husband Johnny Depp.
That legal battle concluded with a settlement in December 2022, after a six-week courtroom spectacle that drew global attention.
Heard later appeared in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom in 2023, but has otherwise remained largely private since relocating to Spain.
In April 2021, she announced the birth of her first child, Oonagh Paige, who was born via surrogate. Heard has not publicly identified the father of her children and previously said she choose to become a mother on her 'own terms.'
On Saturday, The Rum Diary star shared a photo of herself from behind on stage, with the caption: 'What an opening weekend!'
Over the weekend, Heard made a rare public appearance in a Vogue photo shoot promoting the Williamstown Theatre Festival, photographed by Hunter Abrams and Sam Lee.
The shoot showed Heard outdoors, smiling in the woods alongside her castmates.
Spirit of the People is part of the festival's highly anticipated 2025 season and boasts a powerhouse ensemble, including Brandon Flynn, Lío Mehiel, Ato Blankson-Wood, Zachary Booth, James Cusati-Moyer, Amandla Jahava, Emma Ramos, Julian Sanchez, and Tonatiuh. The production is directed by Katina Medina Mora.
'In an interview with Jason Grissom, [Williams] once said, 'There's magic in those woods,' in regard to the verdant woods around Williamstown I've found myself in this summer,' said Harris, 36. 'He was right: There is a magic to the madness of making theater out here that has infected all of us this summer.'
'Perhaps it's the giddy 'theatre camp for adults' energy, or just the ways in which so many new theater artists — Katina [Medina Mora], Nicholas [Alexander Chavez], Whitney [Peak], Amber [Heard], and many more — have thrown themselves headfirst into this world and aren't just keeping up but pacing some of their peers,' he continued.
'I'm in awe of each of the people assembled this summer, and I hope the experience of meeting these gorgeous works of raw, ambitious art will give you something to chew on as we all dive headlong into this precarious moment in American history,' Harris concluded.
Heard had hinted at her involvement in the production on Instagram in recent weeks, offering behind-the-scenes glimpses from rehearsals.
Last month, she shared a selfie with Harris, which depicted her beaming with pride as she embraced the magic of the theater and her new role.
'In my theatre era x,' the mother-of-three captioned the post.
On July 3, the performer also uploaded a sweet snap of herself sitting cross legged on a stage flipping through a script.
'Work in progress,' she wrote beneath the photo, which received more than 92,576 likes.
Her fans expressed their excitement about her comeback in her comments section.
'So many support you and it is well-deserved. Keep on shining,' one wrote.
Another gushed: 'Amber you look so refreshed and happy, I am proud to support you <3.'
'Your smile is priceless and wonderful to see. You deserve the best!' a third commented.
More raved that they were thrilled to see her 'thriving' and comfortable enough to turn back on her comments.

Republicans propose bill to rename the Kennedy Center to the Donald J. Trump Center for the Performing Arts

Republican Representative Bob Onder has proposed a bill to rename the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C., after President Donald Trump. The proposed legislation, titled the 'Make Entertainment Great Again Act,' cites President Trump as a significant cultural icon and patron of the arts. This bill follows a separate amendment, introduced by Republican Representative Mike Simpson, to rename the Kennedy Center's Opera House after First Lady Melania Trump, which passed the House Appropriations Committee 33-25. President Trump recently replaced members of the Kennedy Center's board and became its chairman, stating his intention to ensure the institution was 'not going to be woke.' John F. Kennedy's grandson, Jack Schlossberg, has criticized these renaming efforts, suggesting President Trump is 'obsessed with being bigger than JFK.'

Julia Roberts' nepo baby niece Emma compares offseason in the Hamptons to Stephen King's The Shining

has compared offseason in the Hamptons to Stephen King's classic horror novel The Shining. The 34-year-old Scream Queens alumna — whose secret hobby was recently revealed — opened up about the years she has spent at the popular seaside town for her latest cover story for Modern Luxury. The star has often been spotted in the Hamptons, whether that be at a star-studded event or enjoying lowkey outings. Emma — who is the niece of Julia Roberts — recalled 'coming out here all the time' to visit her mom Kelly Cunningham who now lives in the Hamptons full time. 'Fifteen years ago, in the winter, it was like The Shining sometimes out here,' the actress told the outlet. 'And now it's like summer all year, which is so beautiful to see . . . I've fallen more and more in love with it as the years have gone on — especially after having my son. I see the Hamptons in a whole different light through his eyes, which is so magical.' During her summers in the Hamptons, Emma brings along a few good books to read while accompanied by her son Rhodes. She shares the four-year-old with ex, the actor Garrett Hedlund, whom she dated from 2019 until their split in 2022. Roberts is now engaged to the actor Cody John. 'I love Sagg Main Beach. It's kind of my routine in the summer — I'll take my son to camp and bring my book with me to the beach and just sit by myself for an hour,' she said. 'There's nothing like it.' Roberts sounded enthused about the people and 'community' in the Hamptons during her conversation. 'It just feels more like a community way of life out here — which, to me, is always more inspiring. It makes me want to read more, makes me want to cook more,' she admitted. Emma has been an avid reader for many years, and even launched her own book club Belletrist in 2017 with her pal Karah Preiss. Earlier this month, she made an appearance at the Avaline x Stella McCartney gathering in East Hampton. The mom-of-one dressed for the occasion in a white halter-styled minidress, as well as a pair of white shoes with chunky soles. Her reddish locks were parted in the middle, and effortlessly flowed down past her shoulders in light waves. And last month in June, Emma put on a stylish display in Montauk, which borders the Hamptons. She donned a black, sleeveless dress with a fashionable belt around the waistline while stopping by the Michael Kors x Montauk Yacht Club event. Aside from enjoying the summer weather in the Hamptons, the beauty has a number of projects up her sleeve, including the upcoming romantic comedy Marriage Material which is also starring comedian Matt Rife, per Variety. The movie is produced by BuzzFeed Studios, and the studio president Richard Alan Reid stated back in May: 'Marriage Material is a fresh, fiercely funny romantic comedy with an undeniable heart. 'Emma and Matt are a comedy duo that audiences worldwide will enjoy,' Reid continued. 'We're delighted to be partnered with Capstone Studios, and believe that with its bold humor, irresistible charm, and modern twist on love, Marriage Material is poised to become a global crowd-pleaser.' Last year, she also appeared in the 12th season of American Horror Story alongside Kim Kardashian. 'Getting to work with Kim was so much fun because we passed each other growing up in Calabasas together,' Emma told Modern Luxury. The pair are now working on the upcoming Netflix series titled Calabasas, which the two stars are executive producers on, per Deadline. 'That led us to another project we have in development, a TV show called Calabasas, based on the memoir If You Lived Here You'd Be Famous by Now,' Roberts said. 'We're turning that into a show with Netflix, so that will be really fun.' In an interview with Elle from February, Emma discussed the importance of having balancing when it comes to working in the entertainment industry. 'I think it's really important to have a life outside of work — to read things and have experiences that aren't work related. I think this actually makes the work better when you pick it back up again.' The star added, 'I really try to give my personal life as much love as my work life. 'As someone in the industry, I think it's easy to self-isolate for the sake of a job, but losing touch with the real world is where you get yourself in trouble,' she said. And while enjoying being a mom to son Rhodes — who turns five in December — Emma also talked about her self-care. 'Self-care for me is about unplugging from electronics,' she said. 'I love to do bath and bed routines with my son and then take some time for myself. That usually involves a face mask and a book.'
