Ranbir Kapoor Left Kishore Kumar Biopic For Ramayana, Reveals Anurag Basu: ‘Tough Choice Tha'

News182 days ago
Anurag Basu believes Ranbir Kapoor made the right decision by choosing Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana over the Kishore Kumar biopic.
Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor will next be seen in Nitesh Tiwari's epic retelling of the Ramayana. He plays Lord Ram in the highly anticipated film that will arrive in two parts—first in Diwali 2026 and the second in Diwali 2027. Ranbir Kapoor was earlier linked to Kishore Kumar biopic directed by Anurag Basu, but later reports suggested that the role had been offered to Aamir Khan instead. Now, Anurag Basu has revealed that both he and Ranbir wish to collaborate with each other, but it hasn't been possible due to scheduling conflicts and other commitments. He revealed that Ranbir was faced with a challenging decision- choosing between Kishore Kumar biopic or Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana. The actor chose the latter, and while it was a 'tough choice' for him, Anurag Basu believes he made the right choice.
In a recent interview with BBC News, Anurag Basu talked about wanting to collaborate with Ranbir Kapoor. 'Haa hopefully. Hum dono toh koshish karte hi rehte hain. Ho nahi raha hai. Woh bhi kar raha hai kaafi saari filmein. (Yes, hopefully. Both of us keep trying, but it's just not happening. He's also working on quite a few films)." He further added that Ranbir was faced with a 'tough choice', and that he chose Ramayana over Kishore Kumar biopic.
'Ranbir ke paas choice tha life mein. Aur bechare ke paas wo choice itna mushkil tha uske liye. Kishore ya Ramayana. Kaunsa Pehle shuru kare. Bohot tough choice tha uske liye. Aur usne fir Ramayana chuna. I think it was the right decision. (Ranbir had a choice to make in life, and honestly, it was a really tough one for him — Kishore Kumar or Ramayana. Which one to start first? It was a very difficult decision. In the end, he chose Ramayana, and I think it was the right call)," said Anurag Basu.
Anurag Basu and Ranbir Kapoor have worked together in the 2012 film 'Barfi' and the 2017 film 'Jagga Jasoos'.
Meanwhile, Pinkvilla reported that Anurag Basu has offered the Kishore Kumar biopic to Aamir Khan. They reportedly met four to five times so far to discuss the film, and the actor is fascinated by the vision of the director for the biopic.
When asked about Aamir Khan being considered for the film, Anurag Basu recently told Mid-Day, ''No comment. Until everything is finalised and the contract is signed, I don't think I should speak on it." He added, 'This project went through a lot of ups and downs. So, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it happens this time and I go on set with the story, which I've been trying to tell for the last decade. So, I won't jinx it by speaking about it."

Jhalee fame Pratham Kunwar on his friendship with actress Neha Khan says, 'We share a very comfortable and deep bond'

Television actor Pratham Kunwar, who currently plays the titular role of Nirvair in the show, Jhalee Ki Kahani, feels Friendship is something to nurture and celebrate. He shares about his closest friend, Neha Khan , an actress by profession and says, "Neha and I have been friends for almost a decade now. We first met at an audition back in 2014–15 — it was for a Marathi film. She was new to the city, having come from Amravati, and I had just started out in the industry. Coincidentally, we both got selected for the same film (Gurukul), and that's where our friendship began." He continues, "Since then, we've got along really well and become very close — she's almost like family to me. She knows all my secrets, and I know hers too (haha!). We share a very comfortable and deep bond. Even though she got busy with her Marathi films and shows, and I moved into TV, we've always stayed in touch. She lives close to my place, so we meet quite often and celebrate most festivals together — Ganpati, Diwali, Eid — all of them" Speaking about his ongoing show, he shared that the narrative centers around two inseparable best friends — Jhalee (played by Apeksha Malviya), who is cheerful and full of life, and Amrit (portrayed by Isha Kaloya), who is more grounded and thoughtful. The story follows their closely connected lives as both of them unexpectedly fall in love with the same man, Nirvair (played by Pratham), setting the stage for an emotional and dramatic journey. The actor highlights the comparison between love and friendship. He shared, "When there's a strong friendship between two people and a third person enters the equation in the form of love, it's natural for that love to feel a bit insecure or jealous seeing that bond. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Real-Time Conversations in 68 Languages? But I believe that's also important — because if your partner feels a little possessive or uncomfortable seeing your friendship, it means they genuinely care for you. It shows that your bond matters to them." "In fact, that's a good sign — but at the same time, love should also learn to respect and accept genuine friendships. Sometimes, love entering the equation can ruin the friendship between two people. But I feel, if that happens, then maybe that love wasn't right for you in the first place — because the one who truly loves you will understand and value your friendships too. In my show jhallee also you will see the same," he concluded. On professional front, Pratham was previously seen playing the titular role of Rishi in TV show Beti Hamari Anmol, and also appeared in shows like 'Guddan - Tumse Na Ho Paayega', 'Yeh Hai Chahatein', 'Meet: Badlegi Duniya Ki Reet', 'Rajjo' He also acted in mythological series like Mahakali - Anth Hi Aarambh Hai, Vighnaharta Ganesha and Siya Ke Ram. Kapil Sharma Reacts To Canada Cafe Attack For The First Time: ‘United We Stand Against Violence'

Last Updated: Kapil Sharma and wife Ginni reacted to the firing at their Canada café, sharing a video with officials and stating, 'United we stand against violence.' Kapil Sharma's Canada cafe, named Cap's Cafe, reopened its doors for guests recently after a horrifying firing incident happened outside the eatery by unidentified individuals. Since the firing incident happened, Kapil Sharma hasn't given any direct reaction until today, but almost a month after the reopening of the café, Kapil Sharma and his wife Ginni Chatrath have reacted to the incident with a video. Kapil Sharma, in a collab post with his wife Ginni, shared a video of officials visiting his café as they enjoy a peaceful meal days after the incident and attached it with a caption making it clear that they do not support any sort of violence. While sharing the clip, Kapil and his wife wrote, 'Thank you Mayor Brenda Locke, @surreypoliceservice and all the officials who visited @thekapscafe_ to show their love and support. United we stand against violence. We're truly grateful." As soon as Kapil shared this post, his fans started reacting and sharing happy wishes to him. Vindu Dara Singh wrote, 'Will visit soon!" 'Wow, this is so beautiful & amazing Kapil bhai!! Kabhi Canada aaoonga to yahan jarur visit karunga," a fan wrote. Meanwhile, a third fan commented, 'Indian police family eating with US police… only at Kaps Café." About the attack On July 10, the newly opened café owned by comedian Kapil Sharma and his wife, Ginni Chatrath, was attacked. Several shots were fired at Kaps Café, which had recently celebrated a soft opening and gained attention for its elegant pink-and-white decor, floral accents, and a menu featuring artisan coffee and desserts. What began as a celebration quickly turned chaotic as the establishment was vandalised. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, but the property did suffer damage. Authorities suspect that the attack was a targeted strike by the Laddi gang, associated with the banned Khalistani terrorist group Babbar Khalsa International (BKI). Laddi is wanted in India for numerous terror-related offences and is believed to be the mastermind behind several recent attacks on Hindu leaders and pro-India individuals. As per a TellyChakkar report, Kapil was reportedly questioned by the Mumbai Police after the firing incident at his café in Canada. view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Kishore Kumar AI Version Of Saiyaara Takes Internet by Storm; Fans Call It More Soulful Than Original

Last Updated: Kishore Kumar's AI-generated version of Saiyaara goes viral online. Fans call it nostalgic, soulful—some even say it's better than the original. The chart-topping title track of Saiyaara has already cemented its place as a musical phenomenon. But now, a fan-made AI-generated version featuring the legendary voice of Kishore Kumar has added a nostalgic twist to the viral wave. Set against visuals of Rimjhim Gire Sawan, the AI cover has taken social media by storm, sparking debate over creativity, ethics, and authenticity in the age of artificial intelligence. The edit juxtaposes Kishore Kumar's recreated vocals with the classic rainy Mumbai visuals of Amitabh Bachchan and Moushumi Chatterjee from the 1970s hit—creating a surreal time-travel moment for music lovers. Somebody made AI based Kishore Kumar version of Saiyaara title songGood effort with retro style rhythm arrangement.. sounds better than original.. yet not even 10% of the power, energy, vibrancy, voice, singing of what KK cud have achieved.. — Keh Ke Peheno (@coolfunnytshirt) August 2, 2025 Online, the video has stirred both admiration and skepticism. 'This is so soothing, at first I thought the Saiyaara song was rewritten," commented one user on X. Another gushed, 'The edit is really good, even better than the original." A third added bluntly, 'India literally lost real creators in music industry." But not everyone was sold. While many applauded the technical finesse, die-hard Kishore Kumar fans pushed back, calling the AI voice a pale imitation of the original. 'Only true Kishore fans will not go 'wow' on this video effort. The original song + the video is a masterpiece. None can replace them even if may seem perfect fit for some noobs," one post read. Another critic added, 'Good effort with retro-style rhythm arrangement… sounds better than original… yet not even 10% of the power, energy, vibrancy, voice, singing of what KK could have achieved." This online buzz comes on the heels of Saiyaara's historic global run. The Faheem Abdullah-sung ballad recently became the first Hindi song to top Spotify's Global Viral 50 chart, and also entered Spotify's Top 10 worldwide—a rare feat for a Bollywood track. Directed by Mohit Suri, Saiyaara stars newcomers Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda. The film has crossed ₹250 crore at the box office, and the song—composed by Tanishk Bagchi, Faheem Abdullah, and Arslan Nizami—has played a pivotal role in its cultural dominance. view comments First Published: August 03, 2025, 19:25 IST Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
