Loretta Lynn's Lap-a-Thon Benefitting St. Jude Kids returns for 2025

The SuperMotocross League (SMX), in partnership with Pro Motocross, announced the return of the Loretta Lynn's Lap-a-Thon Benefitting St. Jude Kids for the 44th annual Monster Energy AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship. Proceeds will go to support St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. This is part of the ongoing Love Moto Stop Cancer initiative that also includes the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship, the Pro Motocross Championship, and the SMX World Championship. Known as the Loretta Lynn's Amateur National Championship because it is run on Hurricane Mills property once owned by the Country and Western singing icon, this race is the premier event in amateur racing. Over the course of the weekend, which begins Sunday, July 27, 2025, 108 motos will be run in 36 classes of competition. Each of an estimated 1,000 competitors will run in at least three motos during the week ending Saturday August 2, when the class champions will be crowned. Estimates are that more than 36,000 laps will be run, and each of them will benefit St. Jude. Every racer has the opportunity to register and begin their fundraising journey at the Ranch, where family, friends, and sponsors can contribute to the cause. 'I'm very fortunate to have had the chance to visit St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and have personally engaged with both patients and the selfless team of doctors and hospital staff. To see the work they do firsthand and to hear directly from the families receiving care is incredible and has stuck with me,' said Tim Cotter, Director of Operations, MX Sports. 'There is a community at St. Jude and we're also a community at Loretta Lynn's Ranch. One of the greatest and most rewarding opportunities is when one community can help another in need and that serves as the inspiration for the Lap-a-Thon. To rally our athletes, come together as a community, and provide support to those in need. When it comes down to it, it's kids helping kids.' Remote fans can visit the fundraising page on St. Jude's website to sign up and support the cause and athletes. For a single athlete, each $1 donation per lap will raise up to $12 to $39. If a patron wishes to sponsor an entire class, that could raise up to $504 to $1,638, so there are sponsorships to fit every budget. In its ninth year of partnership, the SMX League has raised more than $2.5M for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital through various annual fundraising campaigns including, the Love Moto Stop Cancer text-to-donate T-shirt campaign, Love Moto Stop Cancer dedicated race, the St. Jude - Supercross online auction, Ken Roczen's Kickstart for A Cause Bike Giveaway Sweepstakes, and the Rocky Mountain ATV MC Love Moto Stop Cancer Golf Tournament benefitting St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Cooper Webb Joins Short List of Three-Time Supercross Champions

2025 Season Drew Fourth Highest Supercross Attendance SMX League Registers One Billion Plus Minutes Streamed on Peacock for the First Time Ever PALA, Calif., May 23, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- The 17-Round Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship and indoor stadium season of the SMX World Championship™ series concluded on Saturday, May 10 at Rice-Eccles Stadium in Salt Lake City. Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing's Cooper Webb won the title and joined a very short list of athletes (seven) to earn three or more premier class championships. At 29, Webb becomes the oldest champion in the sport's history, besting 2-Time Champion Eli Tomac by just one week. Webb finished the season with five wins and thirteen podium appearances. Like the 450SX Class Championship, the Eastern Divisional 250SX Class Championship also came down to the final race of the season – the Dave Coombs Sr. East/West Showdown that featured both 250 divisions racing together. Red Bull KTM's Tom Vialle backed up last year's title run with a second championship over rivals Seth Hammaker and RJ Hampshire. Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing's Haiden Deegan wrapped up the Western Divisional 250SX Class Championship one week earlier in Denver, Colorado. The 2025 Monster Energy Supercross season drew the fourth highest attendance in the sport's modern era. The season started with a sold-out event at the Anaheim Opener at Angel Stadium in Anaheim, California on January 11. For the second year in a row Round 7 in Arlington, Texas at AT&T Stadium on February 22 was the most attended event of the season hosting more than 68K fans. Rounds 9 and 11 in Indianapolis, Indiana at Lucas Oil Stadium on March 8 and Seattle, Washington at Lumen Field on March 29 both recorded their second highest attendances ever for their respective markets with Indianapolis pulling an impressive 62K plus and Seattle drawing 58,463. Round 15 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania at Acrisure Stadium on April 26 was the shining star of the Northeast run as more than 58K fans attended the first race ever held at the stadium, and first time back in market since 1983. The pre-race festival FanFest also drew a notable 26K plus fans which is 8,000 more people than neighboring PPG Paints Arena would typically host for a sold-out Pittsburgh Penguins (NHL) home game. The season concluded with a near capacity crowd at Rice-Eccles Stadium in Salt Lake City. In total, 828,796 fans attended Supercross and 329,751 showed up early for the pre-race festivities known as FanFest in 2025. From a domestic viewership standpoint, the 2025 season marked several milestones as eight of the ten most-streamed races of all time on Peacock were from this season. Over 80% of races (14 of 17) saw viewership increases compared to last season on Peacock. Additionally, over 1 billion total minutes were streamed on Peacock for the first time ever. Streamed in three different languages (English, Spanish, and French), the international livestream made available through the SuperMotocross Video Pass continues to drive a global viewing audience and makes SuperMotocross one of the most accessible sports around the world. In its third year, global subscriptions to the SMX Video Pass are up 43% and 70% compared to 2024 and 2023 respectively. Compared to 2023, the SMX Video Pass saw a 28% increase in views, an 80% increase in unique viewers, and a 50% increase in minutes watched. In its second year, the Spanish Broadcast has seen year-over-year increases in total views - 85%, unique viewers - 34%, and minutes watched - 89%. Tomorrow, Saturday, May 24, the outdoor Pro Motocross season of the SMX World Championship series gets underway with the Pala Casino Fox Raceway National Presented by Fox Racing in Pala, Calif. The 11-round outdoor season will travel to 10 different states, with visits to Fox Raceway, Hangtown, Thunder Valley Motocross Park, High Point Raceway, The Wick 338, RedBud MX, Spring Creek MX Park, Washougal MX Park, Ironman Raceway, Unadilla MX, and ending at Budds Creek Motocross Park in Budds Creek, Maryland. Once the Pro Motocross season concludes, the combined points between Supercross and Pro Motocross will be tallied and the top 20 athletes in the world will be automatically seeded into the SMX World Championship Playoffs and Final. SMX World Championship Playoff 1 will take place on Saturday, September 6, at zMAX Dragway in Concord, N.C., and Playoff 2 is set for Saturday, September 13, at the Dome At America's Center in St. Louis, Mo., followed by the SMX World Championship Final on Saturday, September 20, at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in Las Vegas. BJCC executive director talks success of weekend events

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — Birmingham has been quite busy over the past few weekends. Last weekend, the BJCC hosted NCAA women's basketball Sweet 16 and Elite Eight games at Legacy Arena, Monster Jam at Protective Stadium and showings of 'Les Misérables.' The weekend before, the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship and SEC Gymnastics Championship were held in Birmingham. Alabama police officer denied immunity for shooting armed Black man in his front yard BJCC Executive Director Tad Snider said these overlapping events brought in thousands of people, many of whom he said took advantage of prepaid parking. 'It was a lot of congestion, no question, this past weekend,' Snider said. 'Especially Saturday, 40,000 people essentially in and around the area for most of the day. Of course, Friday and Sunday were a little softer because you didn't have monster trucks jammed into the basketball schedule. But no question that people seemed to receive it well, utilized it, and we're going to continue to tweak and refine that.' Snider said the new amphitheater will come with two parking decks, bringing about 1,400 spaces to the area. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
