This newly revealed PowerA Nintendo Switch 2 controller could be a worthy budget Pro Controller alternative
Accessory maker PowerA has revealed its Nintendo Switch 2 line up
It includes a wired controller with Hall effect thumbsticks, plus a case and screen protector
All items are officially licensed and will be available in June
Gaming accessory brand PowerA has revealed its new line of licensed Nintendo Switch 2 accessories.
Available in June, the line includes the Advantage Wired Controller for Nintendo Switch 2, Slim Case for Nintendo Switch 2, and Screen Protector 2-Pack for Nintendo Switch 2.
The Advantage Wired Controller will be offered in three colorways: a plain Black, the Super Mario inspired Mario Time or the colorful Mushroom Kingdom. All variants feature Hall effect thumbstick modules, which should help prevent drift.
Nintendo has previously confirmed that the official Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller does not include Hall effect components, so this could be a huge advantage for PowerA. At $39.99, the PowerA offering is also much cheaper than the Nintendo one - though there is a big catch.
This is a wired-only controller, so can only be used when it's plugged in. It does, however, benefit from the addition of on-board audio controls, with multiple presets to choose from (including a Bass Boost mode) and the ability to quickly mute your microphone.
As you might expect, it comes with two remappable rear inputs. These can be adjusted on the fly without the need for any software.
The Slim Case is then a $19.99 carrying case, with a subtle dark grey aesthetic and subtle red stitching. It's got space for the Nintendo Switch 2 console in addition to up to ten physical games, plus includes a built-in play stand for tabletop mode.
Finally, the Screen Protector is, well, a screen protector. You get two in each pack plus a Nintendo Switch 2 branded cleaning cloth, which isn't a bad deal for its $12.99 asking price.
Although there will undoubtedly be generic cases and screen protectors available for slightly cheaper, I find that it's always worth paying a little more for licensed products for the added peace of mind.
The Nintendo Switch 2 is set to launch on June 5, 2025. It costs $449.99 / £395.99 on its own, or $499.99 / £429.99 for a bundle that includes a copy of Mario Kart World. Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders are live now in both the US and UK.

If Prey reignited your love for the Predator franchise, then Predator: Badlands might just be the awesome evolution you've been waiting for. Directed once again by Dan Trachtenberg, this new chapter flips the script by placing the Predator front and center as the main character. This new Predator character is Dek, and he's a misunderstood outcast who's about to carve his name into sci-fi legend. Dek isn't your average trophy-hunting Yautja. Played by Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi, he's what Trachtenberg calls 'the runt of the litter.' But don't let that fool you, Dek's got the makings of a classic lone wolf antihero. Trachtenberg says: 'He's a thing of few words, pretty blunt. He cuts straight to the point. Literally and figuratively.' If that sounds like someone who'd feel right at home wandering the wastelands with Max or swinging steel alongside Conan, that's exactly the vibe. Dek is a survivor with something to prove. Set on a remote planet in the future, Badlands follows Dek as he forms an unlikely alliance with Thia (played by Elle Fanning) on a dangerous mission to find the ultimate foe. While the details are still under wraps, we know this isn't just another hunt. It's a story of personal redemption through battle, and an attempt to shift the franchise's perspective. 'That feels like a big idea, not just within Predator, but in sci-fi generally,' Trachtenberg explains. 'In most sci-fi universes, the 'creatures' are either bad guys or sidekicks. In [Badlands] it's: 'What if you were with the creature on this crazy mission to prove itself, seeing everything through its eyes?'' It's a very cool and interesting direction for the series, and one that Trachtenberg is passionate about. Fresh off his animated anthology Predator: Killer Of Killers , the filmmaker reveals that Badlands is just one part of a larger vision. 'After Prey , I had three ideas,' he says. 'One was Killer of Killers , one was Badlands and one... I haven't done yet. So, there are other awesome ideas and time periods it'd be exciting to explore, and all that's been part of our discussion for [what's next].' An exclusive still released with this intervide shows Dek and another Yautja, mistakenly referred to as Dek's father in early reporting, though Trachtenberg clarifies it's actually his brother. And judging by the weapon he's holding, it's safe to assume family ties in the Yautja clan are less about hugs and more about honor through violence. Marvel Rivals has had a lot of fun teasing fans with the vampire hunter ever since Season 1. Blade could previously be seen in chains in the Central Park map, seemingly by Dracula's hands, months ago. And in Season 2, the developers relocated him to Wakanda's Imperial Institute of Science, where he was slightly more comfortable, napping away in a bed despite all the chaos outside. But now that Season 3's fast approaching, Blade has seemingly woken up from his long slumber. Fans spotted that his bed is now empty, his sword is gone, and worst of all, he didn't even bother to do fix his bedsheets before leaving. Awful house guest. "With Season 3 just around the corner, could this mean...?" one reporter speculated. Others noticed that he'd woken up just in time for Juneteenth, which is also a cool detail. His disappearance is definitely suspiciously timed. As if the usual Marvel Rivals leaks weren't enough, Twitch has accidentally confirmed that Phoenix and Blade are your new Season 3 heroes alongside new "sizzling summer events"

The list of Marvel Rivals' upcoming characters has been as thoroughly datamined and leaked as any other live-service title, but it seems NetEase is now contending with calls from inside the house. A post running down the big summer Twitch drops promotions has apparently just given us an accidental confirmation that Phoenix and Blade are indeed our new Marvel Rivals Season 3 heroes. "Phoenix and Blade ignite the action in Marvel Rivals Season 3: The Abyss Awaken," the Twitch blog reads. "Get ready for all-new team-ups, stunning Venomized costumes, and sizzling summer events that will turn up the heat. Don't miss out—tune in to Marvel Rivals on Twitch for exclusive drops and dive into this epic new chapter!" We'd already gotten some pretty aggressive in-game hints that Blade would become playable soon, but no official confirmation. Both Blade and Phoenix - the latter of whom some of you might know better as Jean Grey - had appeared in recent datamines, but there was no clear indication of when they might drop. Until today, that is. The idea of "sizzling summer events" immediately suggests that swimsuit costumes are on the way, which given the notoriously thirsty parts of the Marvel Rivals fanbase, are effectively guaranteed to print money. We've gotten a preview of what to expect here, too, as a new Marvel Swimsuit Special was announced earlier this year with an early look at the beach bods on the way to Marvel Rivals.
