Karen Gillan plotting secret directing project with Mike Flanagan
The Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle star previously worked with the moviemaker on his 2013 horror Oculus and they have reteamed for upcoming Stephen King adaptation The Life of Chuck - and Karen has now revealed she's hoping to step behind the camera to direct "one of my own creations" in a joint venture with Flanagan.
She told The Hollywood Reporter: "Oh gosh, this is going to be so annoying. I can't actually talk about what it is, but I'm teaming up with Mike again on one of my own creations, which is really exciting.
"Something that I will direct for sure, perhaps act in at the same time. I don't know how I do this to myself, but here we are again.
"That will be my main focus next. I have a few other things in development that are my original ideas. It's more of a focus on original stuff right now."
Karen added that she's keen to direct more projects and she also wants to learn how to edit films.
She explained: "What I love and want to do more of is filmmaking - in the sense of creating the story, filming it, directing it, maybe being in it as well, editing it or with an editor.
"I don't know how to edit myself, but being in that part of the process is amazing. That is where I definitely see my career headed now. It feels like I'm in a little bit of a new chapter."
Karen went on to reveal she's taken inspiration from the directors she's previously worked with including Flanagan and James Gunn.
She said: "I've gotten to work with so many directors and so many brilliant ones, so I've taken all kinds of little things that I never would've known about.
"One of the best directors to work with actors that I've experienced is James Gunn. He's so good with actors. He's really respectful of the work that actors do, which really just feels nice.
"He's one of those brilliant football coaches, where he's a different coach to each actor. [That's] an exercise in psychology. Who needs what and when? How do I give it to them? He is absolutely amazing at that."

The 1999 movie remake Pierce Brosnan as a rich playboy who enjoyed the thrill of stealing art, opposite insurance investigator Rene Russo. Lily Gladstone and Sir Kenneth Branagh are among the cast of the new film, although their roles are being kept under wraps. The upcoming movie takes place in Europe, and the art of thieving remains a central theme of the film, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Drew Pearce has written the script, while Patrick McCormick and Marc Toberoff will serve as producers. Alan Trustman, who wrote the original film, has been hired as an executive producer on the upcoming movie. The romantic thriller is scheduled for release in March 2027.

Jennifer Love Hewitt felt anxious about fan reactions to her I Know What You Did Last Summer return. The 46-year-old actress has reprised the role of Julie James for the new I Know What You Did Last Summer movie, but Jennifer admits that she initially hesitant about returning to the film franchise. She told Vulture: "All of my friends had to talk me into it. Literally up until the last night before shooting, they were like, 'You know you're going tomorrow, right?'" Jennifer starred in the original I Know What You Did Last Summer movie back in 1997, but she worried about how fans would respond to her return. Asked why she felt anxious about returning to the film franchise, Jennifer replied: "What people were going to say about how much older I would seem than when I was 18. That's literally the only thing I was anxious about." The movie star recently confessed that she was sceptical about the idea of returning to the franchise. She told The Hollywood Reporter: "I was hesitant at first. I wanted to make sure that she fit into the movie in the right way and that there was a reason for her to come back besides just the '90s nostalgia moment. "I wanted her part in the movie to matter and for the audience to feel like they were proud of who she has become." Jennifer thinks the evolved version of her character "feels right". The actress explained: "She's exactly who I thought she would be and who I wanted her to be, honestly. "As weird as it sounds, it was really important for me to not see a Julie James that had healed her trauma. She needed to stay in trauma, and she would've stayed in trauma, so this version of her feels right." Despite this, Jennifer actually felt like she was playing a "new character" in the movie. She reflected: "What's beautiful about this movie is that she feels like the same person from the original movie, but she also feels like a new character in some ways because of all the time that's gone by. "But I did rewatch [I Know What You Did Last Summer]. It was my kids' first horror movie. They really wanted to watch it together, and so I watched it with them, which was a total trip. So it was really fun and exciting and interesting to go back and watch that girl on the road that night."

Julie Bowen hails 'very respectful' co-star Adam Sandler
Adam Sandler allows Julie Bowen to take charge during their kissing scenes. The 55-year-old actress has reprised the role of Virginia Venit for Happy Gilmore 2, and Julie admits that she relished reuniting with Adam for the long-awaited comedy sequel. She told Us Weekly: "I love Adam. He's a very respectful person, especially when it comes to, like, a kissing scene or something. "I always feel like I can drive that train. He's like, 'Oh, you're gonna gimme the tongue?' And I was like, 'I might! I might do it.'" Julie actually finds it "easy" to work with the comedy star. She said: "He's wonderful. I love this person. I mean, I'm not married to him. That's [his wife] Jackie. He has a beautiful family. But I love him deeply. [It's] so easy to play with him." Meanwhile, Julie previously revealed that she thought Sydney Sweeney was set to replace her in Happy Gilmore 2. The actress thought someone like Sydney, 27, was perfectly suited to replace her in the much-anticipate comedy movie. Julie told The Hollywood Reporter: "I thought, 'Well I won't be in it'. And that was OK - it was like Virginia Venit, it's been 30 years, he's got a hottie. He's got some little bitty on the side, like a cart girl. "As a matter of fact my children told me, before I was even told officially that there was a 'Happy Gilmore' sequel, my now 18-year-old said, 'Mom, I hear they're doing a sequel and he's with Sydney Sweeney as a cart girl.'" Sydney was widely linked with a role in the new 'Happy Gilmore' movie - but Julie was pleasantly surprised to be offered a part in the sequel. She said: "I went, I'm hurt and I so respect that move. Of course, why wouldn't you? So when I got the call that I was actually in it, I was like, 'Are you sure? Come on.'"
