Young Indian batter Ayush Mhatre has been dazzling in England. After scoring a commendable century against England U-19 in the first Youth Test, the India U-19 skipper followed with a second consecutive hundred on Wednesday. The fourth day of the second Youth Test saw Mahtre anchoring India's mammoth chase of 355 with a ferocious 64-ball hundred.
Mhatre's fireworks lit up the County Ground in Chelmsford after rising star Vaibhav Suryavanshi bagged a golden duck. After a composed 102 in the last game's first innings, the Indian skipper brought up his second consecutive hundred with a strike rate over 155. His knock gave the colossal chase a much-needed push with his fiery knock, but unfortunately, he fell for 126 off Ralphie Albert's bowling. India were 217 for 3, needing 138 more to win with 7 more batters left.

India U-19 started Day 3 strongly, but left-arm spinner Ralphie Albert quickly changed the game's course. Despite Vihaan Malhotra's impressive hundred, England ended the day in a commanding position in the second Youth Test on Tuesday.
Malhotra scored an elegant 120 off just 123 balls, and together with Ayush Mhatre, who contributed a solid 80, gave India a good start. Beginning the day at 51 for 1, the pair built a 133-run partnership in just over 24 overs. At 170 for 1, India seemed poised to take a substantial lead.
However, the momentum shifted when Mhatre was dismissed. Albert then dominated, taking 6 for 53, as India collapsed from 170 for 1 to 279 all out, losing their last six wickets for just 37 runs. Harvansh Panglia tried to stabilise the innings with a 28-run knock, sharing a 61-run partnership with Malhotra, but it wasn't enough.
India conceded a 30-run first-innings lead. England batted confidently, reaching 93 for no loss by the end of the day, increasing their overall lead to 123 runs. Openers Adam Thomas (50*) and BJ Dawkins (42*) remained unbeaten at stumps, putting England in control heading into Day 4.

The series Anderson-Tendulkar trophy came to a thrilling close on Monday after Gus Atkinson's stumps were cleaned up by Mohammed Siraj. There was a lot of experience in the bowling attacks. There was experience in the batting too. There was a lot of hard-fought cricket, where you couldn't see a lot of mistakes. It was hard-fought.' While Ashwin did acknowledge this as a good series, he also mentioned it was an imperfect series. 'In this series, there were a lot of mistakes,' Ashwin added. 'But the young players have corrected their mistakes and gotten better through the series. You had somebody like KL Rahul who's not put a foot wrong in the series. Then you had somebody like a Rishabh Pant or Shubman Gill, who made errors – both got run out once – they played some poor shots and got out at the crucial moments. 'In the bowling too, Mohammed Siraj has had some down spells, Prasidh [Krishna] has had some ordinary spells. England have bowled poorly, but have fought back through Ben Stokes. So there has been a lot of imperfection. There was a lot of perfection in the 2005 Ashes, but we got to see a lot of imperfection in this series,' Ashwin added. 'And that's the beauty of it. Players corrected their vulnerabilities, and made this series like a festival for us. [For] anyone who paid money to go watch the match, no one would say they didn't have their money's worth. Twenty-five days of riveting cricket, and I could give anything to watch this series, I have not missed a moment.'
