KTR has no right to question Revanth: Jagga Reddy

The TPCC leader said even if BRS MLC K Kavitha doesn't do a 'Rail Roko,' let her do a 'Flight Roko' - no issue; both Chandrababu and KCR are disciples of our Hanumanthanna (senior Congress leader V Hanumantha Rao).
Jagga Reddy claimed that a strange situation is unfolding in Telangana. 'The Opposition usually demands that the ruling party convene the Assembly to discuss issues, but here, the situation is reversed. CM Revanth is saying he'll convene the Assembly and is inviting the Opposition Leader to attend; Revanth Reddy even told KCR - 'If you attend the session, I'll call for the Assembly. Come, let's talk,' but instead of the Opposition Leader, second-bench leaders like KTR and Harish are speaking,' Jagga Reddy remarked.
According to Reddy, 'Congress is a national party; BRS is a regional party; Revanth is a CM from a national party; KCR, the former CM, from a regional one; then why are second-bench leaders jumping into the middle?; when asked to come to the Assembly, KTR is inviting people to Boat Club or Press Club instead; if debates are to happen outside, what's the point of the Assembly?'
The Congress leader said that KTR still lacked political maturity. 'Let's ask an ordinary citizen - where should MLAs debate?; if you act immaturely, Revanth will criticise your actions; and when he criticises, you just say, 'he scolded us'; even when nothing was said in the Assembly, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and Sampath were disqualified as members. That's how undemocratically you acted; is ruling with the police as your shield called governance?'Jagga Reddy questioned.

The ruling BJP in Odisha has retained Manmohan Samal as the state unit president for another term as he was the lone party leader to file his nomination Monday for election to the post. Samal, 65, is thus set to be elected unopposed as the Odisha BJP chief, which would be declared by the party's central observer Sanjay Jaiswal on Tuesday. His candidature was decided with consensus at a meeting of senior BJP leaders at the party headquarters in Bhubaneswar following which he filed his nomination. BJP insiders said Samal has been entrusted with the task of heading the Odisha party unit for another term for his 'political acumen' that helped the party win an absolute majority for the first time in the 2024 Assembly polls. The BJP won 78 of the state's 147 seats as against the BJD's 51 seats. Under his leadership, the party also swept the simultaneous 2024 Lok Sabha polls in the state, bagging 20 of the total 21 seats. 'Even though the BJP central leadership had almost decided to forge an alliance with the BJD for the 2024 elections, Samal was the only party leader who did not just oppose the alliance proposal but also convinced the leadership to fight alone,' said a senior party leader. Following his appointment as the state BJP head in March 2023 in the run-up to the Assembly polls, Samal emerged as a key party leader who could gauge public sentiments and sense a 'strong anti-incumbency mood' against the then Naveen Patnaik-led BJD government, which had been then into its fifth consecutive term since 2000. 'Samal convinced the BJP central leaders not to forge an alliance with the BJD but to contest on its own with an aggressive campaign. The central leadership had to agree with his proposal and it helped the party to dislodge the BJD government, clearing the path for the first BJP government in Odisha,' said the party leader. Samal has been active in politics since his student days in the late 1970s, when he held various positions in the RSS' students wing ABVP. BJP sources said his appointment as the state party president was also approved by the Sangh. He had served as the state BJP chief for two terms during 1999-2004 too. Considered a grassroots leader with strong organisational skills, Samal, who belongs to the Other Backward Class (OBC), was nominated by the BJP to the Rajya Sabha in April 2000. He had to quit as the MP after his election to the Odisha Assembly from the Dhamnagar Assembly constituency in Bhadrak in 2004. In the then BJD-BJP coalition government, Samal held key portfolios of revenue and food supplies and consumer welfare from 2004 to 2008. In 2009, the BJD severed its alliance with the BJP. Samal, who shifted his constituency to neighbouring Chandabali after Dhamnagar was reserved for the Scheduled Castes (SCs), could not win any election from his new seat since 2014 polls, losing to the BJD candidate even in the 2024 polls by about 1,900 votes. An affable leader, Samal is known for his connect with all party factions in the state. He is also credited in BJP circles with ensuring a 'proper coordination' between the Mohan Charan Majhi-led government and the party organisation.

Why is Congress protecting the BRS leaders: Bandi Sanjay
Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar alleged that the Congress government was protecting the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and siding with the BRS rulers involved in the loot of crores of rupees of public money in the name of Kaleshwaram project, phone tapping and Formula-E cases. 'It is a reflection of the Congress government's incompetence,' he said while speaking to the media in Venkatraopeta village in Medipalli mandal after laying foundation stones for various development works funded by the Central government in Jagtial district on Monday. Taking a dig at the BRS for its threatening tone against the media organisation, Mr. Sanjay alleged that a group of BRS leaders attacked a private Telugu news channel office over a week ago. Now, after a Telugu newspaper published an editorial against them, the BRS leaders were preparing to attack the newspaper and the channel run by the same management, he claimed citing intelligence inputs. 'If the BRS goons who attacked the TV office had been arrested and dealt with strictly, today's situation wouldn't have arisen,' he said. He said the BJP was fully ready to protect democracy and stand by the media. 'Lakhs of our party workers across Telangana will stand in support.' The Minister also alleged that the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) was demolishing the houses of the poor in the name of encroachments, but giving exemptions to Owaisi's college building in the lakebed in the old city of Hyderabad. Mr. Sanjay asked, 'The HYDRAA authorities claim they cannot demolish illegal constructions in Akbaruddin's college because 10,000 students are studying there. But why did they demolish small houses and huts built by poor people in the Musi River catchment areas, who have no source of livelihood or shelter?' The State government owes an explanation over this matter, he said.

Home Minster G. Parameshwara to hold peace committee meeting in Mangaluru on Wednesday
With Dakshina Kannada district witnessing three communal murders between April and May this year, Home Minister G. Parameshwara will chair a peace committee meeting in Mangaluru on Wednesday to thrash out ways to bring harmony in society. The meeting to be held at the Netravathi Auditorium on the zilla panchayat premises from 12 p.m. would be attended by Assembly Speaker U.T. Khader, district in-charge Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao, elected representatives from the district, leaders of political parties, representatives of different organisations, educational institutions, religious leaders and others, said an official release. The meeting was earlier scheduled for June 13, a day after the Ahmedabad air crash, amid a host of other programmes. However, the meeting was cancelled, and the Home Minister restricted his itinerary to launching the Special Action Force for Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, and Shivamogga districts to combat communalism, as well as inaugurating residential quarters for police personnel. A rag-picker from Wayanad in Kerala, Ashraf, was beaten to death by a group of people on April 27 near Kudupu within the City Police Commissionerate limits. The incident occurred when the victim reportedly made some statements that angered the players at a local cricket event. Police have arrested a majority of the accused in this case. On May 1, the double murder accused and Hindutva activist Suhas Shetty was hacked to death by a group of persons at Bajpe within the Commissionerate limits. While the police nabbed a majority of the accused, the Union Home Ministry handed over the probe to the National Investigating Agency on June 7, stating that the case related to the targeted killing of an individual in public view to create terror in the minds of people by members of an alleged unlawful association. On May 27, Abdul Rahiman from Kolthamajalu in Bantwal taluk was hacked to death by a group of persons in Ira Kodi village when he, along with Kalander Shafi, was unloading sand from his pick-up vehicle. Rahiman was the secretary of the local Masjid committee. Bantwal Rural Police, under the Dakshina Kannada district police, have arrested the accused in the case, and the investigation is in progress.
