Crypto prices remained range-bound on Friday, with Bitcoin trading marginally lower amid mixed signals from global markets and continued institutional inflows Bitcoin was last down 0.3% at $109,031, having touched an intraday high of $110,541 earlier in the session. Ethereum slipped 1% to $2,563. The global crypto market capitalisation also dipped 0.5% to $3.37 trillion, according to CoinMarketCap data.Major altcoins traded in the red, with XRP, Solana, Dogecoin, and Cardano shedding between 1% and 3%. Other top tokens such as Chainlink, Avalanche, Stellar, Toncoin, Shiba Inu, and Litecoin also declined up to 3%.Despite the mild pullback, analysts said market sentiment remains broadly positive, supported by institutional buying and a healthy technical setup.'Bitcoin (BTC) is hovering around $109,000, showing resilience after touching an intraday high near $110K,' said Shivam Thakral, CEO of BuyUcoin. 'Flows into spot BTC ETFs remain strong, drawing institutional capital and supporting prices. A breakout above $114K could trigger the next leg of the rally.'Edul Patel, Co-founder and CEO of Mudrex, echoed the optimism, noting that bulls continue to defend key levels.'Bitcoin is holding strong above the $109,000 mark despite brief selling pressure following U.S. payroll data,' Patel said. 'Data from The Block shows 98.9% of Bitcoin holders are currently 'in the money', reflecting strong market confidence. If Ethereum stays above $2,500, we could see a rally toward $2,700 driven by whale accumulation and institutional interest.'Adding to the upbeat outlook, Avinash Shekhar, Co-Founder and CEO of Pi42, said rising open interest and unrealised profits suggest the market is not overheated yet.'Bitcoin is trading firmly above $109,000, with the unrealised profit ratio at 80%—a healthy sign of confidence among holders. Open interest is rising again, reflecting renewed enthusiasm without signs of excessive speculation,' Shekhar said. 'Ethereum is holding within its expected range, supported by improving macro sentiment and equity market gains.'Among altcoins, Shekhar noted that XRP is showing strong upward potential with technical indicators pointing toward a possible move to $3, while Dogecoin has regained strength after breaking above its 50-day trendline. With bullish fundamentals intact, analysts believe Bitcoin may soon test the $110,000 mark again and possibly chart a path toward new all-time highs around $115,000.(Disclaimer: Recommendations, suggestions, views and opinions given by the experts are their own. VRRR auction draws robust response amid surplus liquidity in the system

Wall Street Week Ahead: Investors eye tariff deadline as US stocks rally

Live Events (You can now subscribe to our (You can now subscribe to our ETMarkets WhatsApp channel Investors will be keeping a close eye on tariff headlines out of Washington next week, as a temporary suspension of punitive import levies is set to expire. If that Wednesday deadline passes without an increase in trade tensions , it could prove positive for the markets. Negotiators from more than a dozen major U.S. trading partners are rushing to reach agreements with U.S. President Donald Trump's administration by July 9 to avoid even higher tariffs, and Trump and his team have kept up the pressure in recent Wednesday, Trump announced a deal with Vietnam that he says will impose a lower-than-promised 20% tariff on many Vietnamese exports. While the administration has teased a forthcoming deal with India, talks with Japan, the sixth-largest U.S. trading partner and closest ally in Asia, appeared to hit roadblocks. Investors have shifted from panicking about tariffs to relief buying, recently lifting the U.S. stock market back to record highs, with corporate earnings and the U.S. economy holding up better than many had expected through a period of dramatic policy S&P 500 has risen about 26% from April 8, when stocks bottomed following Trump's draconian April 2 tariff much of the rally has been driven by retail market participants and corporate share buybacks , even as institutional investors have been more the S&P 500 making new highs, equity positioning is far below February levels as investors remain underweight stocks, according to Deutsche Bank estimates."This has definitely been a junkier rally, a more speculative rally," Lisa Shalett, chief investment officer at Morgan Stanley Wealth Management."In the last week or so, it's been driven a lot more, I think, by retail than it has been by institutions. Institutional positioning is really just average," she said. While many factors are keeping investors cautious, including worries about U.S. economic growth and lofty stock market valuations, getting past the tariff deadline without a major escalation in tensions would be one less thing to worry about in the near term, analysts said."I think that there may be some threats and saber-rattling, but I don't really think that any of that now poses a major danger to the market," said Irene Tunkel, chief U.S. equities strategist, BCA investors don't expect the tariff deadline to put an end to trade tensions for good."I don't view it necessarily as a hard deadline," said Julian McManus, portfolio manager at Janus Henderson Investors."The 90-day pause itself was instituted because the markets were falling apart, and I think policymakers needed breathing room and time to try and negotiate these deals or find some kind of off ramp," he cautious approach to boosting equity exposure now is reminiscent of their behavior immediately after the pandemic market drop of March 2020, when allocations to stocks recovered more slowly than major market indexes, Deutsche Bank strategist Parag Thatte, said."It does mean that there is room for exposures to keep rising, which is a positive for equities all else equal," Thatte a roller-coaster first half, the S&P 500 is entering a historically strong period. Over the past 20 years, July has been the strongest month for the benchmark index with an average return of 2.5%, according to a Reuters analysis of LSEG data. Investors will also be keeping an eye on economic data - especially inflation numbers - and second quarter results in coming weeks for clues to the health of the U.S. economy, and the Federal Reserve interest rate outlook."We're right at the point where institutions are going to have to decide one way or the other, do they believe the rally or not," Morgan Stanley's Shalett St Week Ahead runs every Friday. Punjab's cereal dominance faces grain drain

Chandigarh: While Punjab continues to be a major contributor to India's agricultural economy — particularly in cereal production—the state is gradually losing its relative share in the national output as faster-growing states like Madhya Pradesh and Telangana catch up. At the same time, neighbouring states such as Haryana and Himachal Pradesh are registering gains by diversifying into horticulture, livestock, and other allied sectors, better aligning with the emerging national trends. According to the Statistical Report on Value of Output from Agriculture and Allied Sectors (2011–12 to 2023–24), released by the ministry of statistics and programme implementation (MoSPI), Punjab's gross value of output (GVO) from cereals in 2023–24 stood at Rs 47.1 thousand crore. This keeps Punjab among the top three cereal-producing states, along with Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. However, Punjab's share in the national cereal GVO declined from 11.97% in 2011–12 to 11.01% in 2023–24, pointing to a phase of relative stagnation. By contrast, Madhya Pradesh's cereal GVO surged from Rs 20.9 thousand crore to Rs 47.1 thousand crore over the same period—more than doubling its share and catching up with Punjab. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Trade Bitcoin & Ethereum – No Wallet Needed! IC Markets Start Now Undo Haryana, another grain-centric state, posted a cereal GVO of Rs 28.1 thousand crore in 2023–24, reflecting steady output, though without a major increase in its national share. The data highlights Punjab's continued dependence on the paddy-wheat cycle. While the state's agricultural infrastructure remains strong, its horticulture, livestock, and allied sectors are comparatively underdeveloped. Nationally, agriculture is undergoing a structural shift. The share of crops in the total agricultural GVO declined from 62.4% in 2011–12 to 54.1% in 2023–24, while the contribution of the livestock sector grew from 25.6% to 31.2%. The fisheries sector also expanded, with its share rising from 4.2% to 7.0%. Livestock GVO at the national level nearly doubled, from Rs 4.88 lakh crore in 2011–12 to Rs 9.19 lakh crore in 2023–24. Punjab, however, recorded a slower growth rate in this segment. The state's livestock GVO rose from Rs 26,660.05 crore in 2011–12 to Rs 37,983.56 crore in 2023–24, an increase of 42.47%—well below the national average of 88%. The livestock GVO includes seven product categories: milk, meat, eggs, wool and hair, dung, silkworm cocoons and honey, and increment in livestock. In Punjab, milk continues to dominate, accounting for 84.52% of the state's total livestock GVO in 2023–24, up from 82.15% in 2011–12. Meat output rose modestly to Rs 3,871.67 crore in 2023–24 from Rs 2,983.35 crore in 2011–12. Eggs and other products remain marginal in contribution. In contrast, states like Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, and Maharashtra have diversified their livestock portfolios, making significant gains from poultry, meat, and fisheries. "Punjab's agrarian growth model has reached a saturation point," said Prof Ranjit Singh Ghuman, agricultural economist. "With nearly 80% of the state's geographical area already under cultivation, there's no room left to expand outward. The real challenge now is to grow smarter—by shifting away from over-dependence on paddy and wheat and incentivising diversification into high-value crops, livestock, and agro-processing. Without this structural shift, both the ecological and economic sustainability of Punjab's agriculture remain at serious risk."
