Iranian president arrives today
Iranian President Dr Masoud Pezeshkian is scheduled to arrive here Saturday for a two-day state visit to Pakistan on August 23, 2025, at the invitation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
Dr Pezeshkian will be accompanied by a high-level delegation, including Foreign Minister of Iran Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, senior ministers, and other high-ranking officials, according to a Foreign Office press release.
During his stay, President Pezeshkian will meet with President Asif Ali Zardari, and hold delegation-level talks with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. This marks Dr Pezeshkian's first official visit to Pakistan as the President of Iran.

India also has been frustrated by Trump repeatedly taking credit for an India-Pakistan ceasefire that he announced on social media in May, which halted days of hostilities between the nuclear-armed neighbors. The unpredictability of the Trump administration creates a challenge for Delhi, said Richard Rossow, head of the India program at Washington's Center for Strategic and International Studies. "India's continued energy and defense purchases from Russia presents a larger challenge, where India does not feel it can predict how the Trump administration will approach Russia from month to month," he said.

Later in the session, PTI MNA Aamir Dogar criticized the government, saying, 'You have sentenced our members to ten years each.' He added, 'if everyone is thrown out, what kind of House is this?' and claimed that ten MNAs were 'lifted' from the House without any action from the Speaker. Speaker Ayaz Sadiq responded by asking, 'Did I not issue production orders?' Dogar claimed that Sheikh Waqas Akram's applications had been submitted to the Speaker's office. 'You subjected MNAs to political victimization,' he said. 'The PTI founder is in jail because he refused to bow down. Had he bowed, he would've been in this House,' he said. Russian strikes kill three in east Ukraine
LOZOVA: Russian strikes in eastern Ukraine killed three people, including a mechanic at a railway station, and wounded at least 12 people, authorities said Tuesday. 'Russian terrorists inflicted a massive strike on the railway infrastructure of Lozova,' the Ukrainian Railways company said in a Telegram post. Ukraine's railways have been heavily targeted by Russia's army throughout its invasion, launched in February 2022. Moscow has escalated aerial attacks even ahead of a Friday deadline by US President Donald Trump to make progress towards peace or face massive sanctions nears. The nighttime strikes in the city of Lozova in the eastern Kharkiv region left a passenger train mangled and charred, and damaged the station building with a pile of rubble on the platform. 'A duty mechanic of one of the units was killed,' Ukrainian Railways said, adding that several trains have been rerouted. President Volodymyr Zelensky said Russia had launched more than 25 Iranian-designed Shahed drones at the city, striking 'civilian infrastructure'. 'The railway was damaged, including a depot and a station,' he said on social media, adding that 10 people were wounded in the attack. Ukraine's air force said Russia fired 46 attack drones and one ballistic missile in the barrage – down from the several hundred that Moscow has the capacity to launch. Lozova Mayor Sergiy Zelensky called the strike 'the most massive attack' on the city since the beginning of the war. A separate Russian strike on Ukraine's northeast Sumy region killed two more people at an 'agricultural enterprise', authorities said. Trumps deadline looms after three rounds of peace talks in Istanbul failed to make headway on a possible ceasefire, with the two sides remaining far apart. Russia's army has escalated attacks and accelerated its advance on the ground to capture more Ukrainian territory. US envoy Steve Witkoff will visit Russia this week, where he is expected to meet President Vladimir Putin, ahead of the Friday sanctions deadline.
