Police say they're responding to a call for a person in crisis on the highway. They received the call shortly before 8:30 p.m. No threat to public safety, police say. The highway was initially closed in both directions at Jameson Avenue. Police say the westbound lanes remain closed at Dunn Avenue, and one eastbound lane has now reopened.

RCMP believe 3 fires that broke out within hours in The Pas are connected

Mounties in The Pas believe three fires that broke out at three different locations in under two hours are connected. Police responded to all three incidents alongside The Pas Fire Department. RCMP said the first report came in on Friday at 2:40 a.m. They arrived on Edwards Avenue to find a fully engulfed structure. Officers say the building was under construction and no one was inside. While on scene, officers were called to a vehicle fire on Larose Avenue. There, police found a vehicle fully engulfed in flames in a parking lot. The last incident was reported at 4:30 a.m. – a grass fire on Fischer Avenue. Fire crews were able to get that one under control quickly, RCMP said. Police believe all three fires are connected. They ask anyone with any information or who may have possible video surveillance to contact The Pas RCMP detachment at 204-627-6204 or Crime Stoppers. An investigation is ongoing.
