Rushworth nears return to boost Warwickshire
The veteran seamer, 38, is nearing a return for the Bears and has been named in the squad for the Division One fixture against Hampshire at Edgbaston, starting Friday.
Rushworth, who took 53 wickets in 2023 and 13 in an interrupted campaign restricted to six outings by injury last summer, has missed the start of this season with a calf strain.
With Booth expected to be out until at least the end of July, Rushworth's return will replenish the Bears' fast bowling options if he is deemed sharp enough to start against Hampshire.
"It's good to have Rushy back in the squad," Warwickshire first-team coach Ian Westwood told the club website.
"We don't know yet if he'll play but he's going well in training, he's building back up, and has been progressing nicely with our strength and conditioning team.
"The news on Boothy came as a real blow. He's had a great start to the season, looking very sharp and has been among the wickets. He's in good hands and we hope to see him back as soon as possible."
Warwickshire have had a good start to the County Championship season with two wins and three draws putting them second in the Division One table behind Nottinghamshire.

Jaylon Johnson among 4 Chicago Bears on the non-football injury list as training camp nears
Cornerback Jaylon Johnson was one of four Chicago Bears players placed on the non-football injury list Saturday afternoon, a surprise twist as the team readies for training camp. Other Bears given the NFI designation were backup quarterback Case Keenum, second-year running back Ian Wheeler and receiver Jahdae Walker, an undrafted rookie out of Texas A&M. Johnson, the team's top cornerback, was by far the most significant name on the list with no immediate clarity on the specifics of his ailment. Quarterbacks and rookies began checking in to Halas Hall on Saturday for training camp with the full team's reporting date coming Tuesday. The Bears' first practice is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Wednesday. Players with NFI status — designated as such due to an injury or illness that occurred away from official team activity — are ineligible to practice until cleared but still count against a team's 90-man roster limit. Players who remain on the NFI list after the league's final cutdown day at the end of the preseason are required to miss a minimum of four games. Johnson, who signed a four-year, $76 million extension during the 2024 offseason, was not present for the entirety of the team's mandatory minicamp last month, with Bears coach Ben Johnson acknowledging his absence as 'excused.' (Jaylon Johnson's charity golf tournament was taking place that week in California.) Ben Johnson and general manager Ryan Poles are scheduled to address the media Tuesday afternoon at Halas Hall. The team already has a short list of significant players with injuries that might affect their availability for the start of camp, including Braxton Jones (ankle), Colston Loveland (shoulder) and Luther Burden III (undisclosed). Jaylon Johnson's status will be worth monitoring as the team marches into Ben Johnson's first camp as coach with designs on becoming a playoff contender this season.

Bears place Jaylon Johnson, 3 others on NFI list to open training camp
The Chicago Bears have placed cornerback Jaylon Johnson, quarterback Case Keenum, wide receiver Jahdae Walker and running back Ian Wheeler on the Active/Non-Football Injury list to start training camp. The NFI list is used for players who are injured away from team activities. They must be removed from the list before they're allowed to practice. The Bears will hold their first training camp practice on Wednesday. Rookies, quarterbacks and injured players reported on Saturday with veterans set to report on Tuesday. It's uncertain whether Johnson, Keenum, Walker or Wheeler will be cleared in time for the first workout of the summer. Johnson has established himself as arguably the best player on the Bears' roster and one of the NFL's top cornerbacks. He's coming off his second consecutive Pro Bowl season, where he totaled career highs in tackles) and tackles for loss (7) while also forcing three turnovers in what was a forgettable and frustrating 2024 season. Bears cornerback Jaylon Johnson will begin training camp on the active/non-football injury list, the team announced. He is one of four players to get that designation, though he, backup quarterback Case Keenum, running back Ian Wheeler and wide receiver Jahdae Walker can return once they pass their physical. The Bears, who had rookies and quarterbacks report to Halas Hall on Saturday, will hold their first practice Wednesday. Johnson earned a second consecutive Pro Bowl last season when he made two interceptions, eight pass breakups and a forced fumble. Johnson's injury is undisclosed. He was present for much of the team's offseason program Wheeler is still rehabbing after tearing an ACL in the 2024 preseason, and Keenum spent last season on the Texans' injured reserve list after injuring his foot in the preseason. Walker is an undrafted rookie out of Texas A&M.
