Tributes to wingsuit flyer, 24, who died in crash in Swiss Alps
In November, Mr Byrne featured in a BBC documentary, The Boy Who Can Fly, about his journey to becoming a champion skydiver.
His parents, Mike and Gillian, confirmed to BBC Scotland News that their son had died, and paid tribute to his 'wild energy' and 'contagious laugh'.
The Byrne family said: 'We would like to remember Liam not just for the way he left this world, but for how he lived in it.
'Liam was fearless, not necessarily because he wasn't afraid but because he refused to let fear hold him back.
'He chased life in a way that most of us only dream of and he soared.
'Skydiving and base jumping was more than just a thrill for Liam – it was freedom. It was where he felt most alive.
'Liam was more than just an adventurer. He was a son, brother, grandson, cousin and friend. He was a source of laughter and strength.
'He inspired all of us and made life better with his bold spirit and kind heart.
'We will miss Liam's wild energy and contagious laugh.
'Though he has now flown beyond our reach, he will always be with us.'
The documentary screened on November 8 showed Liam and his father, Mike, as Mr Byrne prepared for a wingsuit jump off Mannlichen mountain in Switzerland.
Speaking in the documentary, Mr Byrne, from Stonehaven, Aberdeenshire, said that 'an office job scares me far more than the fear of dying from a base jump or wingsuit flight'.
The Foreign Office has been approached for comment.

The display to mark the start of the Oasis Live '25 tour, which will start in Cardiff on Friday, July 4 and Saturday, July 5, took place late on Wednesday from 11pm to midnight on Wednesday, July 2. The show was an exclusive, one-night-only spectacle which saw drones form in the shape of the band's iconic logo over the Principality Stadium. Excitement for the gigs, which is the first time Noel and Liam will be reunited onstage together, is clear in the city. The drones, which could be seen for miles, could be seen forming the logo before returning to nearby Cardiff Arms Park. Earlier this week Noel Gallagher was spotted at Cardiff Central station - you can read more on that here - while Liam is dismissing claims that the soundchecks booming from the stadium are them. There is exclusive merch, only available in Cardiff, already for sale outside the stadium as well as a pop-up store in St David's. Soundchecks could be heard, with the song Cigarettes & Alcohol ringing from the stadium on Monday, June 30. Avid tennis fan Kate Middleton endured a cringeworthy moment at Wimbledon long before marrying Prince William, after her father's comment to British tennis star Tim Henman Sue Barker's illustrious broadcasting career with the BBC placed her at the heart of all the action for almost three decades. The 69-year-old wrote: 'During the filming of my Our Wimbledon documentary, I interviewed both the Duke of Kent and Catherine, now Princess of Wales. 'Catherine was so lovely to talk to too. 'We were all a bit on edge and then in she came and put us all at ease, even saying she was a bit nervous as she hadn't given many interviews. (I'm sure she said that to make me feel better.) 'She was a natural in front of the camera and what came across in the interview was her obvious love for the game from an early age. 'Tennis is a family passion and the Middletons came to queue and watch Wimbledon most years. She told me how mortified she was when her father once mistook Tim Henman for Pete Sampras. ''My father is not going to appreciate this, but we were walking past Tim Henman and we had just seen Sampras play. And dad said very coolly, 'Hi Pete.' I was mortified!'' Since that embarrassing encounter, Princess Kate has had plenty of opportunities to meet Henman and rectify her father's past mishap. As a regular attendee of high-profile matches, she is often seen sitting in the Royal Box. The Princess also presents the tournament's finalists with their trophies, the most recent recipient being men's singles champion Carlos Alcaraz in 2024.
