Prince Harry And Meghan Reportedly Have 'No Plans' Ever To Move Back To The UK Despite 'Peace Talks'

Yahoo2 days ago
Prince Harry and his father, King Charles, seem to be on the path to reconciliation after their top aides were spotted holding peace talks in London.
However, despite this significant attempt to heal the family rift, it has been revealed that Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, have no plans ever to move back to the UK.
This comes after royal experts noted that Prince Harry may struggle to mend his relationship with his brother, Prince William, who is reportedly wary of the ongoing peace talks.
Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Are Never Moving Back To The UK
Following reports of a "peace summit" between Harry and King Charles' senior aides, many had hoped it would lead to the Windsor family reuniting, particular the Duke and Duchess of Sussex returning to the UK.
However, close friends of the Montecito-based royals have shared a different perspective, noting that Harry and Meghan have no intention of ever moving back, as they are "very happy" with their life in California.
"They're very happy living in and raising their family in California and, as it stands, have no plans to leave," a source said, per the Daily Mail.
Harry and Meghan made headlines in 2020 when they officially stepped back from their roles as senior royals and relocated to the US.
Ever since, the rift between the couple and the royal family has widened due to disturbing allegations made against the monarchy through interviews, a docuseries, and the duke's memoir, "Spare."
King Charles Is Reportedly Wary Of The Duke Due To His Past Actions
According to royal expert Charlotte Griffiths, Harry jeopardized peace efforts with the royal family by breaching a long-standing royal code.
Griffiths suggested that the Duke of Sussex had violated a key protocol by openly sharing private family matters in the public eye, referencing Harry's candid interview with Oprah, the Sussexes' Netflix series, and his revealing memoir.
As a result, King Charles is reportedly wary of direct conversations with his youngest son, fearing their private exchanges could become public fodder.
"I think he would be willing to meet his demands, and it is a pretty simple demand, it is 'If I talk to you, can it not leak out on Oprah Winfrey or any other program?" Griffiths said of the king's requirements.
She added, "Harry really wants reconciliation and to be able to freely speak to his father; at the moment, he cannot get through to his father, he has to go through his aides."
Moving forward, Griffiths believes, "What will definitely happen is some ground rules for communications."
"What Harry cannot do is repeat what goes on in private conversations," she noted, per the New York Post.
Prince Harry's Public Remarks On King Charles' Health Sparked Palace Backlash
During a BBC interview back in May, Harry expressed a desire to reconcile with his father and other members of the royal family.
However, he stirred controversy by suggesting the king's health might be worse than publicly acknowledged.
"I don't know how much longer my father has," Harry remarked, claiming at the time that King Charles refuses to speak directly with him.
Griffiths noted that Harry's comments caused considerable unease within Buckingham Palace.
"Harry said 'we don't know how much time my father has left' and that went down extremely badly, that's why this story is so surprising," she said. "He broke the cardinal rule, which was speculating on the king's health."
"By fueling public speculation about his father's condition, Harry crossed a line rarely breached within royal circles," Griffiths added.
Prince William 'In No Rush' For Reconciliation As King Charles Softens Toward Prince Harry
Although the Sussexes' representatives, Meredith Maines and Liam Maguire, were seen in talks with Charles's press secretary, Tobyn Andreae, the meeting notably excluded Prince William and Princess Catherine's communications team.
Royal expert Griffiths believes this partly shows William remains uninterested in repairing his fractured relationship with his estranged brother.
"William is in perfect health and is in no rush to make amends with his brother," Griffiths noted of the Prince of Wales.
While Charles likely informed William of his outreach efforts, Griffiths suggests the heir apparent would rather stay out of any peace talks.
"I think the king will have let William know this was his approach, and there would have been a certain conversation. But I don't think William will want to get involved," she noted.
Griffith further speculated that the king's recent health challenges may have softened his stance toward Harry, making him more open to reconciliation.
"I think this is driven by the king's health in the respect that the king is very circumspect at the moment and is perhaps in a more forgiving place," she added.
Invictus Games 2027: Prince Harry Reportedly Hopes For A Royal Reunion On Home Soil
With tensions between Harry and the royal family still unresolved, insiders suggest the upcoming Invictus Games in the UK could offer a rare chance for the duke to extend an olive branch.
Reports claim Harry hopes Charles and William will attend the 2027 Games in Birmingham, set for July 17, 2027.
"Invictus hopes the royal family will come along to support the wounded veterans taking part. Harry is hopeful his father will set aside their differences to attend the Invictus Games and support veterans," a source told the Daily Mail.
"The royals have always been hugely supportive of Invictus and proud of what Harry has achieved in that arena. This is one olive branch from him which might be reciprocated," they added.
While Harry remains estranged from both his father and brother, his desire for reconciliation remains. The hope is that by 2027, relations may have thawed enough for the royal family to publicly back the event, which is set up to support and uplift wounded veterans worldwide.

People Are "Pissed" After Learning This Former "Euphoria" Star Is Now Cleaning Kitchens To Make Ends Meet

Euphoria fans just received a huge reality check after seeing what it's really like being a struggling actor in Hollywood. Nika King is widely known for playing Leslie Bennett (aka Rue and Gia's mom) on the hit HBO series for the first two seasons. Related: Three years after Season 2 debuted in January 2022, it was announced that Season 3 had finally begun filming. It even included a photo of Zendaya on set for additional proof. Delays in production were due to a slew of reasons, which ranged from the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes in 2023 to alleged behind-the-scenes drama with claims of a "toxic" work environment and grueling "18-hour" workdays. During this delay, Euphoria producer Kevin Turen died in November 2023 from multiple heart issues, and Angus Cloud, who starred as the beloved Fez, tragically died of an accidental overdose at the age of 25 in July 2023. On top of all that, two cast members revealed they had no plans on returning to the show: Barbie Ferriera announced the shocking news shortly after Season 2 ended, while Storm Reid revealed she would be focusing on other things, like graduating from USC and working on projects through her production company. The delays also caused strain and stress for some of the cast members, including Nika. In March 2024, during one of her stand-up comedy shows posted on her TikTok, the actor and comedian admitted she was having trouble paying her rent because filming for Euphoria was taking so long to commence. 'People are like, 'We need Season 3.' I'm like, 'Bitch, I need Season 3. I haven't paid my rent in six months. I thought my career was on the rise after Euphoria. I thought I was good. It don't work that way. I called Taraji [P. Henson} and she was like, 'Bitch, get used to it.'' While she recently starred in the American drama film Sound of Hope: The Story of Possum Trot, we should note that filming for it began back in 2022. Fast forward to February 2025, Nika announced her "character is not coming back to the show," after she received tons of DMs and comments asking about Season 3. "Unfortunately, I'm not [returning]," she said in a video posted online. "My character is not coming back to the show, but I am forever grateful to HBO, Zendaya, and Sam Levinson for giving me the opportunity to come on set." Fans showered her with words of encouragement on her future endeavors, while also expressing sadness that they won't see her in future episodes. Related: But concern for Nika grew when she recently shared a video of her cleaning what appeared to be a restaurant kitchen. She captioned the clip, "When ppl ask me if I'm filming S3 of Euphoria?" while the caption for the post read, "A job is a job." Reactions ranged from saying how "fucked up" it is that her promising acting career led her to a non-Hollywood position, to applause for her vulnerability in sharing the realities of being a struggling actor in the industry: Related: At first glance, I had similar thoughts, but I quickly found out there was more to her post than meets the eye. After noticing she tagged an account on the post I checked the page out, and discovered Nika not only works in that kitchen, but she co-owns the establishment it's located in. The account is linked to Blue Tree Cafe, a vegan soul food restaurant run by Nika and her mother, Sharon Allen. The page was a pleasant surprise because the food looks delicious, and their playful relationship shines in their videos. And once others caught on as well, Related: But owning a restaurant is no easy feat either. Nika hopped on a popular social media trend where people show how they mask their true emotions while dealing with a crisis — and for Nika, that was the current status of the restaurant. Nika and her mother also set up a GoFundMe as a way to help the establishment from closing. I truly appreciate the transparency, even if it's done through laughter. I don't know about you, but I'm wishing Nika success in all of her passions — acting, comedy, and restaurateur. Also in Celebrity: Also in Celebrity: Also in Celebrity: Solve the daily Crossword

Menendez brother calls 'Monsters' actor from prison to celebrate Emmy nomination for portrayal

Joseph "Lyle" Menendez, one of two Beverly Hills brothers convicted of shotgunning his parents from behind in 1989, used a prison phone to call the actor who portrayed his brother on the recent Netflix show, "Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story," to congratulate him on his first-ever Emmy nomination, according to a new report. Cooper Koch, 29, played the younger Menendez, who, along with his brother, snuck up behind their parents and opened fire while they were watching TV and eating ice cream in their living room. He was reportedly on the phone with Variety discussing his recently announced nomination when Lyle beeped in from the Richard J. Donovan Correctional Facility in San Diego. "He was just like, 'Congratulations, I'm so excited for you. I saw you were at Wimbledon. I was so jealous,'" Koch told the outlet after a 10-minute hold. "I said, 'Well, I've been back in tennis lessons, so I'm getting ready to play you and beat you when you're out.'" Koch received the nod for Best Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The competition includes Colin Farrell, who played the starring role in "The Penguin" on HBO. Koch played Lyle's younger brother, Erik, a former nationally ranked junior tennis player, in the Netflix series. "I know them now. I feel like they're my friends, like my brothers," Koch told the outlet. "So it does kind of feel normal. It'll feel way better when they're out of there." The Menendez brothers, 57 and 54 years old, recently received sentence reductions from a Los Angeles judge. Koch showed up for at least one of their hearings during the ordeal. Initially serving life sentences with no chance for parole, they both have hearings coming up before the end of summer that could lead to their release. The bloody crime, in which the duo ambushed their parents in the living room of their mansion before blaming the mob and going on a spending spree, saw renewed attention in recent years, thanks in part to "Monsters" as well as a batch of true-crime documentaries that introduced the crime and evidence that their father had been sexually abusing them to a new generation. They claimed they killed their parents in self-defense, allegedly fearing for their lives after they told their father they would expose his child sex abuse. Separately from their sentence reductions, the brothers are seeking a new trial, alleging that evidence of that abuse had been suppressed from their second trial, which ended with convictions for both of them. That evidence includes claims from Roy Rosello, a former boy band star in the 1980s group, Menudo, who also alleged sex abuse at their father's hands. The brothers had used evidence of sex abuse in their first trial, which ended in a mistrial. Much of it was excluded the second time around. Their petition for a new trial is pending. They will appear before the California parole board on August 21 and 22.
