How to Apply for Yamaha OAI Grants
MARIETTA, Ga., March 31, 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Yamaha Motor Corp., USA, reinforces its commitment to outdoor recreation and conservation by awarding more than $400,000 in grants in the second half of 2024 through its Yamaha Outdoor Access Initiative (OAI). For the first time, Yamaha OAI has partnered with Yamaha Rightwaters to extend its impact beyond land-based projects to include sustainable access to public waters.
"The collaboration between Yamaha's Outdoor Access Initiative and Yamaha Rightwaters represents an exciting evolution in our conservation efforts," said Steve Nessl, Yamaha Motorsports Marketing Manager. "By bridging our work across land and water, we can support more comprehensive projects, maximize resources and continue leading the way in responsible outdoor recreation."
In the latter half of 2024, Yamaha provided 20 grants for diverse projects, including trail maintenance, bridge construction, environmental education and wildlife protection. The first joint efforts between Yamaha OAI and Rightwaters include:
Memorial Foundation of Germanna Colonists (sponsored by Village Motorsports, Virginia): Grant funds and a golf car donation provided by Yamaha's Golf Car division will support the Siegen Forest trail system and public boat launch improvements.
Alabama Coastal Foundation (sponsored by Hall's Motorsports Mobile, Alabama): Funding will aid the 'Share the Beach' sea turtle monitoring and protection program on Dauphin Island.
Saint Louis School (sponsored by Hawaii Rides, Hawaii): A donated UMAX by Yamaha's Golf Car division will enhance the Palolo Stream Restoration Project, supporting environmental education and land stewardship.
Sault Ste. Snowmobile Association (sponsored by Chippewa Motors, Michigan): A grant will assist with bridge and trail repairs in Michigan's Upper Peninsula.

2025 Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro vs. 2024 Lexus GX 550 Overtrail: The Off-Road Battle
Trail drive Both of these vehicles have been out to Hungry Valley OHV park on separate occasions and have been through our three-pack of tests there. The GX defeated the Land Cruiser, and the 4Runner TRD Pro took on the Honda Passport TrailSport. Therefore, we already went into this challenge knowing that the Toyota has an advantage on the ziggurat of integrity, where it went a full step higher thanks to greater flexibility and a disconnecting front stabilizer bar, while both were about equal on the hill climb. So to provide a new challenge, we put together a trail drive that combined a dirt road, some sand, whoops, and a high-speed washboard section to test them out more thoroughly. The two vehicles have very different suspensions, with the TRD Pro opting for Fox shocks and the GX offering a more conventional setup, but with KDSS (Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System) up front. This system uses a hydraulic control to adjust the front stabilizer bar, so it can be tighter on the road for greater stability and loosen up off-road to allow for more articulation. At slower speeds, the GX was more comfortable and its steering felt much more precise. But on the whoops when it would bottom out, the impacts were very harsh in the Lexus. That's where the 4Runner really came alive. This is the desert-running version of the Toyota, and when the speeds crept north of 40 mph, it was much more comfortable than the Lexus. The Fox shocks have internal valves that add pressure as the shock compresses, so when it bottoms out, it doesn't feel nearly as violent, and rebound is also well controlled. Weirdly, the 4Runner was quite uncomfortable at lower speeds, and it never really settled in. (The same is true of driving it on the road.)

2026 Mitsubishi Outlander Review, Pricing, and Specs
Overview The Mitsubishi Outlander has a couple of things going for it: Namely, its interior is pretty plush for the price, and it comes with an (albeit dinky) third row—something no other 2026 compact crossover can claim. The driving experience and powertrain are nothing special, but neither are they objectionable. While it's not the quickest SUV on the market, the Outlander rides smoothly and quietly. Plus, it boasts many desirable features, from an easy-to-use and modern-looking infotainment system to standard blind-spot monitoring and rear parking sensors to optional all-wheel drive. Expert Tip: Environmentally conscious shoppers may want to look at the plug-in Outlander Hybrid, which we cover separately. What's New for 2026? Mitsubishi is likely to leave the Outlander alone for 2026, having refreshed the model just last year. During our 75-mph highway fuel-economy route—part of our extensive testing regimen—the 2025 all-wheel-drive SEL model achieved a result of 30 mpg, matching its EPA result. Interior, Comfort, and Cargo First Row: The Outlander's interior accents and surfaces are high quality, and the design looks modern. Most people will find the front seats to be comfortable for long-distance driving, as both feature generous cushioning. Cloth upholstery is standard but higher-end models feature a more premium-looking quilted-leather option. Dual-zone automatic climate control is standard. Second Row: The second-row seats are roomy for adults and seat comfort nearly matches that of the front seats. The bench seat folds flat to accommodate extra cargo, and Mitsubishi treats rear-seat riders to their own climate control vents on the back of the center console. SEL and Platinum trims offer a three-zone automatic climate control system with controls for the second row. Third Row: The third row has very limited legroom, and it's unlikely you'll be able to transport adults back there without hearing complaints. The two-seat third-row folds flat when you don't need it though, which leaves plenty of space for cargo. Cargo Capacity: In our testing, the Outlander's cargo area fit two suitcases with the third row raised, 10 carry-ons with the third row folded, and 22 bags with the second and third rows folded.
