Malaysian Carats swarm Sunway Pyramid for Seventeen's Mingyu (VIDEO)
Mingyu, whose full name is Kim Min-gyu, is an ambassador for the popular candy bar Snickers and was scheduled for a meet-and-greet at the mall today.
Even before the mall was open there was a long line of fans eagerly queued outside waiting to see the star according to various social media posts.

When Mingyu arrived last night, fans were also there to cheer and greet him at KLIA.
The 28-year-old posted an Instagram Story of the airport and captioned it: 'Malaysia...long time no see.'
The last time the group was in the country was seven years ago, while a previous Kuala Lumpur concert date was cancelled.
Malaysian Carats finally got a glimpse of one of their faves after a long time; let's hope they don't have to keep waiting much longer to see them.

KLUANG, July 6 — The development of the Johor–Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ) is expected to benefit not only areas surrounding Johor Baru but also be felt across all 10 districts in the state, said Johor Chief Minister Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi. He said the initiative would lead to the emergence of more satellite towns, ensuring that no district is left behind in terms of infrastructure and progress. In addition to driving economic growth, JS-SEZ would also serve as a catalyst for the tourism sector, positioning Johor as a major destination, he noted. The state government, he said, would seize the opportunity to promote attractions throughout Johor in conjunction with the upcoming Visit Johor Year. 'Bit by bit, areas surrounding JS-SEZ are beginning to experience the spillover effects of development. For example, the areas of Simpang Renggam and Renggam in Kluang are already seeing its impact. This progress will gradually expand to other districts. 'If Seremban is known as a satellite city to the Klang Valley, we expect Kluang to become one of the main satellite cities as a result of the JS–SEZ development,' he said at the launch of the Majestic Johor x Renggam Fiesta at Tunku Mahkota Ismail Youth Centre (TMIYC) Renggam today. The JS-SEZ covers major development zones such as Iskandar Malaysia, Forest City, the Pengerang Integrated Petroleum Complex, and Desaru, with a total land area of approximately 357,128 hectares. The Iskandar Malaysia region also includes strategic areas such as Johor Bahru City Centre, Iskandar Puteri, Tanjung Pelepas — Tanjung Bin, Pasir Gudang, Senai — Skudai, and Sedenak. Further commenting, Onn Hafiz said that rapid development in the transport sector would also support connections between districts and the JS-SEZ, including the Johor Bahru–Singapore Rapid Transit System (RTS) Link Project and the Gemas-Johor Bahru Double Track Electrified Project. HUNDREDS of Carats, the official fandom of South Korean boy group Seventeen, flocked to Sunway Pyramid yesterday to catch a glimpse of member Mingyu at a Snickers Malaysia pop-up event but the excitement was quickly overshadowed by backlash over crowd management and influencer access. The appearance by the K-pop star set social media abuzz, with the hashtag #SNICKERSwithMINGYU trending on X (formerly Twitter). However, many fans voiced frustration over what they described as unfair treatment of long-time queuers in favour of invited influencers. Some fans claimed they had queued from as early as midnight to secure a good spot, only to be pushed behind influencers who arrived shortly before the event. 'Give some respect to CARAT pls,' wrote user @Bling1230Tae. 'People waited from midnight with no sleep, and those who came five minutes before got in just like that. It's CRAZY.' User @bbimbimbapp added:'Imagine fans spending thousands, queueing from the parking lot, only for influencers to get the front spots.' Others criticised the event layout, saying it made it difficult to view the stage from most angles. 'Carats queued since 3am. They came late and still got to sit in front,' said @rainalee_30. 'The layout was terrible. Most of it was blocked off — you could only see from a corner if you were downstairs.' While some defended the use of influencers as a standard marketing tactic, others questioned the decision to seat them in prime spots over contest winners and fans. 'Isn't it normal to have KOLs for marketing purposes?' asked @aritaylli. 'They're paid to make content so Snickers gets publicity.' 'But still, whether you're a hardcore CARAT or just casually like K-pop, shouldn't everyone get fair access?' added @iam_ein. Others were more critical:'Let them mingle with the fans in the middle. Sarawak's ‘Little Bornean Birdie' soars to silver at Dance World Cup Finals in Spain
KUCHING, July 6 — Sarawakian talent Dion Das Louis, fondly known as the 'Little Bornean Birdie', has made the state and country proud by clinching second place at the prestigious Dance World Cup World Finals in Burgos, Spain. The nine-year-old SK Green Road pupil represented Malaysia in the Mini Solo National and Folklore category, performing an ethnic creative dance inspired by the traditional Ngajat Iban and two of Sarawak's iconic birds – the Burung Ruai (Great Argus) and the Kenyalang Hornbill. He outshone 34 other contestants from around the world, scoring an impressive 93.8 points – just 0.3 points behind the gold medallist from Germany. 'Truth be told, I was initially nervous as there were a lot of good dancers from all over the world at the competition,' he told The Borneo Post in a WhatsApp message conveyed through his mother Edina Lanying. 'But I am very happy and proud to have made it this far on the international stage and given the opportunity to compete against the 34 dancers,' he added. Dion's performance was accompanied by original music composed by local bands Sada Borneo and At Adau. His vibrant parade costume was specially designed by Sarawakian designer Gilbert Headhunter, who is based in Kuala Lumpur. 'We are incredibly proud of Dion's achievement. It was a tough one as there were a lot of amazing dancers at the competition,' said Edina. She added that she and her husband, Louis Lansam, plan to enrol Dion in more international events next year, and hope to see him represent Malaysia at global cultural festivals.
