ITV's Grantchester confirmed to be ending after 11th series

Grantchester, which follows a clergyman who helps investigate crimes in a small village, will end after its 11th series.
Filming for the final season will begin this month, with Rishi Nair reprising the role of vicar Alphy Kottaram alongside Detective Inspector Geordie Keating, played by Robson Green.
Both Nair and Green have said it was "an honour" to star in the beloved show.
We're headed back to #GrantchesterPBS for one last adventure! 🔍 It's with happy tears that we announce that Grantchester has begun production on its 11th and final season. ❤️ We're so grateful to all the loyal viewers and can't wait to bring you the final chapter of this story. pic.twitter.com/DcYtOHdiZR
Grantchester fans are still waiting for series 10 to be released, with it premiering on PBS in the U.S on Sunday, June 15.
A UK release date for Grantchester season 10 has not been revealed, but it has now been confirmed that series 11 will be its last.
Rishi Nair plays vicar Alphy Kottaram, who helps to investigate crimes in the small village of Grantchester, in Cambridgeshire, alongside Detective Inspector Geordie Keating, played by Robson Green.
Happy Valley star James Norton previously starred as the village's vicar, Sidney Chambers, from 2014 to 2019, before Tom Brittney joined as the new vicar, Will Davenport, who was later replaced by Nair's character.
It has gained many fans over the years, with one person on IMDb describing it as a "brilliantly written and acted" show.
In the final series, Alphy will learn more about his past and will continue to get to know the bishop's daughter, Meg.
Elsewhere, the chief superintendent comes to Geordie with a tempting offer that could also mean an end to his crime-solving partnership with Alphy.
The show is adapted from the Grantchester Mysteries novels by James Runcie and was developed for TV by Coulman.
Green thanked "everyone who has been part of this incredible journey", adding: "It has been an honour to share in the magic of Grantchester, and I am forever grateful for the memories, the friendships, and the love that this journey has given me. I hope I made you proud."
Nair also thanked all the cast and crew, and said "it's been the greatest honour to step into the world of Grantchester and be part of a show with so much heart".

On the show's end, writer, series creator and executive producer Daisy Coulam said: At its heart, Grantchester is a show about the power of friendship and love.
"For over a decade now, cast and crew (many who've been there since the beginning) have met each summer to film. And it's been an absolute joy.
"Thank you to James Runcie for entrusting us with his characters. Thank you to the lovely people of real Grantchester. Thank you to everyone who's been a part of the show in any way, big or small. I'll miss you terribly."
Following the news, many fans were sad to hear of the show's end.
One said: "Nooo, please, this is devastating. This was my comfort show. We need a Leonard spin-off!"
Another added: "I've been complaining that the seasons are too short, and here you are ending the series."

Mrs Browns Boys returning to the BBC after controversy

The fifth series of the comedy programme is now only weeks away and is returning despite the creator apologising for a racial slur. Teasing the new show, the corporation said: "Agnes Brown and the gang from Finglas are back! "Everyone's favourite Irish Mammy returns for a brand new fifth series featuring all your favourite characters, so get ready for more slapstick shenanigans this spring!" According to The Sun, the BBC's head of comedy, Jon Petrie, added: "Brendan has created an iconic comedy character in Agnes Brown. "Mrs. Brown's Boys is a BAFTA-winning comedy show and one of the BBC's most-watched comedies ever. I'm proud to have it in the BBC Comedy stable." Mrs Brown's Boys will return to UK telly on Friday, August 1 at 9:30pm on BBC One. BBC viewers dub Mrs Brown's Boys 'utter garbage' and 'worst thing' they have ever seen Despite this popularity, many are not so keen on the show, with one person penning: "The worst show I've ever seen. It's ghastly, and thankfully, no one I know likes it, because if they did, then I'd disown them. UTTER GARBAGE." Another said: "Quite possibly the worst thing I've ever watched in my life. "For something that is labelled as a comedy, it is incredibly unfunny. "The entire premise of this show is woefully outdated, predictable, cringe inducing, with an annoyingly overactive audience. "Of all genres, comedy is probably the most diverse in terms of its audience reception, but if 1920s-style slapstick is your jam, this will probably tick a box for you." However, with a rating of 7.1/10 on IMDb, most enjoy the programme. Recommended Reading: One person wrote: "Some of the funniest slapstick I have seen in years. The live audience and the accidentals (on-stage flubs) only serve to make what is already hilariously funny, even funnier." Another added: "Love this series. I can't stop watching it. Terrific cast, fantastic humour. I never want the show to end. So much craziness in the world today, so much to worry about, but this show takes you away from it. Brilliant, Mr. O'Carroll." A third fan said: "So glad I stumbled upon this show through a friend. It has to be the funniest show I've ever seen!"

TV fans have less than two weeks to binge on 'brilliant' free streamer

A free streaming service hailed as 'brilliant' by users will be shutting down for good in two weeks, but fans can still watch for free on Amazon Prime Video. Freevee is Amazon's free, ad-supported streaming service and gives users access to thousands of movies and TV shows without the need for a subscription. It was launched in 2019 as a FAST (free ad-supported streaming television) service under IMDb, before rebranding as Freevee in April 2022. Amazon first announced its intention to shut down Freevee in November 2024, citing plans to consolidate both its free and paid streaming offerings in one app, Prime Video. Now, Amazon has confirmed when the free streaming service will close for good. An in-app message has appeared, notifying users of the change. It says: 'Prime Video is the new exclusive home for Freevee TV shows, movies and live TV. 'The Freevee app will be accessible until August 2025. Continue watching your favorite free originals and our library of hit movies, shows, and live TV on Prime Video for free, no subscription needed.' This means that while the streaming app is disappearing, the content on it won't be. Instead, fans of Freevee can access the same shows and movies for free, with ads, at their new home on Prime Video. An Amazon representative previously told Variety: 'To deliver a simpler viewing experience for customers, we have decided to phase out Freevee branding. There will be no change to the content available for Prime members, and a vast offering of free streaming content will still be accessible for non-Prime members, including select originals from Amazon MGM Studios, a variety of licensed movies and series, and a broad library of FAST channels — all available on Prime Video.' Freevee's most popular content includes Emmy-nominated reality sitcom Jury Duty, which explored the inner workings of an American jury trial through the eyes of one juror, who doesn't realise that everyone except him is an actor. There's also Australian soap Neighbours and the Alex Rider series, which is a thriller following a teenager who finds out his late uncle was a spy, as well as Judy Justice, starring Judge Judy Sheindlin. Freevee also has Bosch: Legacy, a sequel to Prime Video's Bosch, and plenty of classic shows such as Hell's Kitchen, Mr Bean, Skins and Benidorm. For films, Freevee viewers can watch Me Before You, the 2013 re-imagining of Carrie, The Nice Guys and many more. Online, Freevee users have shared their thoughts on the app's closure, with some disappointed by the change. Reddit user Useuless said: 'This means no dedicated Freevee channel so you can only browse it's content, instead you have to wade through paid for content as well. Essentially it still exists, but now with ads and a more time consuming interface.' philosofova added: 'Will be kinda missed, I mainly liked it for the channel surfing aspect which I missed when I just wanted to watch random stuff.' And tunachilimac wrote: 'I am watching a couple things on Freevee and installed Prime because of this. The Freevee UI is much better than the Prime Video UI. It's weird they aren't keeping the better interface at least.' Others were less bothered, however, with Shap6 writing: 'I was looking through it just the other night out of curiosity, terrible content selection even by free streaming TV standards'. Lithogiraffe added: 'Go ahead. Nearly everything there is also on Tubi free'. Nevertheless, Freevee received hundreds of positive reviews during its time, with fans hailing it as 'brilliant'. On the Amazon website, reviewer Angel Eyes wrote: 'It's brilliant. It allowed me to catch up on all the episodes that I had missed. There's a lot of great content on there and the picture is amazing. The ads are very brief and not at all intrusive.' And John Chewter said: 'I am now hooked and am finding some very good Australian and New Zealand crime drama series I had never heard of and that are very good!' More Trending Another reviewer added: 'Unlike the other free movie channels, this one has only a few short ad breaks and does not bombard you with them. Use it all the time.' To find Freevee's content on Prime Video from next month, users should browse the 'free with ads' section of the Prime Video website and app. Users won't need to sign up or pay a subscription fee to access the content in this selection.
