When Celtic will 'move forward' to sign Balikwisha

The winger has been continually linked with a move to Parkhead, although in recent days, it was said that he was in advanced talks to join a French side.
Those claims have since been refuted by Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri, who says that Celtic will move forward to sign Balikwisha, depending on whether they qualify for the Champions League.
🔴⚪️ Despite reports, Southampton FC hasn't expressed any formal interest for Michel Ange Baliwkisha.
🍀 Player's still a target for Celtic FC who's likely to move forward in case of #UCL qualification.

Balikwisha missed the majority of last season through injury, but still managed to score four goals and set up three in 17 appearances for Royal Antwerp.
With Brendan Rodgers on the lookout for a winger, or perhaps even two, before the end of the window, the 24-year-old could be an option.

This latest update comes after Celtic boss Rodgers opened up on transfers on Friday as his side prepare to kick off their Scottish Premiership campaign.
He said: "We've still got a wee bit of work to do. I think that it's a huge credit to the guys who are here and how well they've worked. But the squad will hopefully look different again come the end of the window.
"We know the work that we need to do, and it's my responsibility to convince the club that we really need them. I'm not doing that job as well as maybe what I can, but I will continue to pursue that because it's something that's important for us."

6 pundits react to Tony Bloom's Hearts statement of intent as Old Firm accusation made

The Brighton and Hove Albion owner was in situ at Tynecastle on Monday night as Derek McInnes' side beat Aberdeen 2-0 in the Premiership opener. While action on the park eventually took precedence, much of the debate came from Bloom's bold comments pre match. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad After agreeing to invest £9.86m in the Edinburgh club and gaining a 29% stake, Bloom wants to replicate success he's had at Royal Union Saint Gilloise by ending Rangers and Celtic dominance in Scotland. With his help, the Belgians have risen rapidly and won the top flight in Belgium, with Hearts title glory wanted within the next decade. He said: 'It's very difficult to be confident of winning a title or cup in any one season. I'm supremely confident that, over the next five years, Hearts will have an extremely good squad competing near the top of the league. Whether we are actually good enough to win the title, there are obviously no guarantees on that. But I will be very disappointed if, in the next 10 years, we don't win at least one league title. What excites me is bringing in really good players, watching Hearts win games, I'm addicted to winning, success, and winning titles and that's what I want to see happen here at Tynecastle.' It's caused debate over whether this is actually possible, and whether this ambition should be applauded. Here's how some Scottish football pundits have reacted. Kris Boyd (Sky Sports) 'It works everywhere else. It's snobbery from Scottish football to think it won't work because we have two huge clubs here. For him to come out and says he can turn this around very quickly, suggests to me he doesn't really see Rangers or Celtic, especially Rangers as he's totally dismissed them, as any threat to them. He will feel with the analytics he can thrown down a challenge. It's ignorance from Scottish football to think it can't be done. It's worked everywhere else.' Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad Chris Sutton (Sky Sports) 'Really, really bullish. Really bold. He has a track record of improving clubs and he feels because of the analytics, he can get on the right side of them and win, pushing the likes of Celtic. There will be a lot of scepticism.' Craig Levein (Sportsound) 'It would need certain conditions I think for Hearts to get there. I mean, it would need an almost perfect season on Hearts' part and one of the Old Firm to underperform. I think that the the fact is that the money that the two Old Firm teams have, even though Tony Bloom's putting money in here at Hearts, I still think they'll be quite a way ahead in the financial front so it's going to be tough. But I mean, if anybody can do it, I think Hearts under Derek McInnes can. I think they've got a chance. James McFadden (Sky Sports) 'If they are going to challenge for the title and realise what Tony Bloom is saying, the analytics are solely going to be the reason they close that gap. Financially I don't think they will ever be able to compete with Rangers or Celtic. I don't think they want to as they have been in trouble at different times and don't want to be again. When it was first floated, people scoffed at it. If it was an unknown coming in you'd more say let's see how this works, probably more on the side of cynicism. It's proven to work. It's not going to be an instant success but there's no doubt it works. I expect it to work here at Hearts.' Willie Miller (Sportsound) 'We can only wish him well to be perfectly honest. I think it's going to be a huge task and I think particularly when you're talking about titles. I think cup competitions are completely different absolutely as I think the cup competitions are there to be won won of games etc and anything can be done. Nobody gave Aberdeen any chance whatsoever in the Scottish Cup and they managed to turn it around on the day and lift the trophy. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad 'The only problem, well it's not the only problem, but I think when you're trying to dislodge Rangers and Celtic, I think I think Hearts in particular and Hibs and Aberdeen, these are the teams that should be trying to disrupt the Old Firm. These are the teams with the biggest funds behind them. The biggest pool of players as well, strongest pool of players too. So there is a responsibility for them to make it difficult for Rangers and Celtic. I love people with ambition of knocking the top teams and and giving them a bit of a black eye but it's going to be difficult.' Alan Rough (PLZ) 'It's a good thought to spice it up a bit but I don't think his £10m will make an effect on Rangers and Celtic even in 10 years time. I hope he is right to a certain extent as we do like a bit of challenge in the league. He will have to put in more money year on year. I'd love to know Derek McInnes' reply to that, it has put a bit of pressure on him.'

Russell Martin turns to two Rangers stars singled out as boss twists for Champions League showdown

It's another quick turnaround for the Light Blues as they look to put in a performance and result at Ibrox against Viktoria Plzen Rangers have the chance to put things right almost instantly after Russell Martin's astonishing TV blast at the weekend. ‌ The Ibrox boss called out egos in his squad following another opening day without victory for the Light Blues as they conceded last one to drop points in the season opener at Motherwell. ‌ The new manager insisted in his pre-match press conference for the visit of Plzen his filleting came from a place of love because he wants his players to do better. ‌ He insisted it wasn't an attack on any individuals and for him honesty is the best policy and it is something he will use again if it comes to it. But ultimately, the performance at the weekend was nowhere near the standard Martin has for his team and the fans made that clear at Fir Park as boos rang out from the stands as the whistle went. That could mean changes from the boss tonight and he may have already hinted at a big clue over two stars that he namechecked for praise from that encounter with Motherwell. He said: "Lyall Cameron came on and did great because he wants to run really hard for the team. 'I said to some of the guys in there that Cyriel Dessers is the only one we've had a bid for and interest in and he comes on and runs so hard, and the same on Wednesday. 'Some of them need to have a look at him and set that example. There will be people left behind if they don't want to come because they need to really understand what playing for this football club takes and means - and not just when it's having a nice time." ‌ Mikey Moore and Oliver Antman are now in the door but the Spurs youngster won't feature in this one due to a UEFA rule on his Under-18 status while the new boss is awaiting to see if he gets the green light in time over the former Go Ahead Eagles man. At his old club he's trained for over a month, had five training games and a full 90 minutes so is raring to go. He's also been on the grass already with his new colleagues so he could get a quick baptism of fire should the UEFA clearance arrive in time in what would be a major boost for Martin and his choices on the wings. Thelo Aasgaard and Hamza Igamane remain sidelined for the Light Blues and will miss out on the first-leg encounter. ‌ Findlay Curtis missed out at the weekend, but after his display and goal against Panathinaikos in Govan he could get the nod over Djeidi Gassama. He has produced twice so far in the Champions League from the bench and that kind of danger coming on late into the game as the opposition start to tire could be a priceless weapon to unleash for Martin and his staff. Kyogo out of sync at Birmingham as Chris Davies makes honest admission on ex Celtic hero

The £10million Japan striker hasn't hit the ground running and could start the season on the bench for Blues Ex-Celtic hero Kyogo could start the Championship campaign on the bench after being dropped for Birmingham's final pre-season warm-up. ‌ The Japanese striker ended his six-month nightmare at Rennes by joining the Blues in a £10million switch earlier this summer. ‌ But Kyogo hasn't hit the ground running at St Andrew's. The former Hoops goal machine was left out of the starting XI against Nottingham Forest on Saturday and his replacement, Jay Stansfield, netted the winner as Blues rounded off their summer programme with a 1-0 win. ‌ Kyogo made a 30-minute cameo in the second-half but had few opportunities and looked out of sync with his new teammates. Boss Chris Davies says the 30-year-old's clever off-the-ball runs aren't being spotted and admits more work is needed in the training ground. He said: "We analyse every minute of every game and try to highlight things, and he does make very, very good runs and a lot of them. "There are times where he's not been seen or found, but I want him to continue to run and continue to play with that energy. "You can see that he's quick. There was one where he pressed the goalkeeper and you could see his change of pace. ‌ "It is all still new for Kyogo coming into a new country, a new league and a new team, but you could see quite clearly what qualities he does have with the movement and the speed, and he's a very good finisher, although we haven't created too many chances for him in pre-season." Newly-promoted Birmingham kick off their quest for Premier League promotion in this weekend's curtain-raiser at home to Ipswich Town. And big-money signing Kyogo looks set to start the season on the bench - a far from ideal start at his new club after being frozen out at Rennes. ‌ You can get all the news you need on our dedicated Celtic pages, and sign up to our newsletters to make sure you never miss a beat throughout the season.
